00:00It may well be one shining achievement that ultimately defines his legacy on the country's economy when he steps down from power in 2028,

00:09an ambitious and costly infrastructure project that will facilitate the daily commute of hundreds of thousands

00:15and significantly ease the woes of motorists on the road.

00:19And today he went to a project site in the megacity to see the status of construction that Arclayzel Pardelia sums up in this report.

00:26President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally inspected the ongoing construction of the Metro Manila subway project.

00:37It is the country's first ever underground railway system and the largest infrastructure of its kind in the Philippines.

00:47Once completed, the subway will significantly reduce time from Valenzuela to Parañaque City

00:54in the southern part of Metro Manila.

00:57After the tunnel boring machine was lowered to Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City last January,

01:03construction has made visible progress.

01:06The tunnel structure for the Camp Aguinaldo station, which will connect to the Ortega station, is already in place.

01:29The tunnel will pass under Barangay White Plains, Corinthian Properties, and the Meralco Compound.

01:36The Marcos administration is targeting to complete the segment from Ortigas to Valenzuela by 2028.

01:57Once fully operational, the Metro Manila Subway is expected to benefit over half a million passengers daily,

02:07offering faster, more reliable, and convenient transportation.

02:12The subway will span 33 kilometers with 17 stations at a depot from East Valenzuela Station to Bicuren Station in Paranaque,

02:21including a branch line to Naya Terminal 3 in Pasay City.
