00:00The San Lázaro Residences, a 20-story condominium-type housing project in the capital city,

00:05offers a host of amenities plus health care facilities,

00:09is move-in ready for Manila's marginalized and underprivileged.

00:14This socialized and affordable housing scheme was unveiled earlier today,

00:18led by the president and the city's local government leaders.

00:21A strict vetting procedure ensures only the truly qualified

00:25makes it into one of the 382 units which I dwell on from this Kenneth Paciente report.

00:34Lea has been working for the Manila LGU for 38 years.

00:39Despite her long service, she still has not been able to acquire her own home.

00:45To help ease the lives of people like Lea,

00:48the San Lázaro Residences High Rise in Manila was inaugurated today,

00:52led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,

00:55the project is an in-city vertical housing program of the city of Manila,

00:59covering 4,329.65 square meters.

01:04It has 20 floors, 382 residential units, and 169 parking slots.

01:09Amenities include indoor and outdoor activity spaces,

01:13a function room, swimming pool, and roof deck

01:16to ensure quality living for future residents.

01:19Part of the building is dedicated to health services

01:21with the New Manila Public Health Laboratory,

01:24located from the first to the fourth floors,

01:27while the Lanusa Health Center is situated on the first and second floors.

01:37o magbibigay ka lang ng unit.

01:40Dahil ang buhay ng tao ay hindi pa bahay lamang.

02:25193 are allotted for Manila City Health Workers,

02:29while 189 are for qualified residents

02:32and Manila government employees.

02:34Applicants must have a monthly pay

02:36of salary grade 18 or below,

02:38must not own any property in the country,

02:41verified by the Land Registration Authority,

02:43and must have a family.

02:45The president praised the city's leadership

02:47for this initiative

02:48and highlighted the importance of cooperation

02:51between national and local governments,

02:54especially in exchanging ideas

02:55on how to address the housing gap in the country.

03:24Once the beneficiaries

03:25move into the San Lazaro residences,

03:28they will contribute

03:29around 2,000 to 3,000 pesos monthly.

03:32This will go to a trust fund

03:33and return to them

03:35should they decide to leave the unit

03:36with necessary repair costs deducted.
