05:59Matthew and Elizabeth Hammond say the last time they saw their 17-year-old daughter Malaya alive,
06:05she was floating on her back down a raging creek.
06:08Just being devastated that I'm never actually going to be able to see her again.
06:15I'm so sorry.
06:19But the family's van falling into raging floodwaters.
06:22I felt myself go under and have the thought, like, oh my gosh, is this it?
06:27Malaya's body later discovered a mile away.

07:02Jacqueline, thank you.
07:03Let's get right to meteorologist Danny Beckstrom from our New York station, WABC.
07:08And, Danny, you're tracking two dangerous flash flood threats tonight.
07:13Two, yes, Martha.
07:14The first, unfortunately, Texas, where heavy rain and thunderstorms continue to track through,
07:19taking a look at the radar.
07:20Thankfully, this morning's torrential rain is moving east,
07:23but the flash flood threat lingers for at least the next few hours.
07:26The second area is in the northeast, with flood watches from Virginia to upstate New York.
07:30Scattered storms bring heavy downpours this evening, with another round developing tomorrow afternoon.

08:26Trump vowed to make 90 deals in 90 days, but instead, he's sending official letters to countries,
08:32declaring new tariff rates set to take effect on August 1st.
08:36He's backed off on deadlines before, so the key question now?
08:40Is this a negotiating tactic, or are these tariffs real?
08:43Well, these tariffs are real if the president doesn't get a deal that he thinks is good enough.
08:48The president also threatening 25 percent tariffs on Japan and South Korea,
08:5235 percent tariffs on Canada, and massive 50 percent tariffs on Brazil.
08:58And tonight, small businesses left in limbo.

09:04after Trump hit China with staggering 145 percent tariffs that he later walked back.
09:10We caught up again with Amy.
09:12She's still facing uncertainty.
09:15We're stressed out.
09:16We don't know, are we going to have to take loans out to make sure that we have the dollars that we need to fill our stores?
09:23Nearly everything in her store is made in China or comes from European vendors.
09:28Foreign countries do not pay for the cost of tariffs.
09:30Yes, I pay for it.
09:31You pay for it.
09:32My customers are going to pay for it.
09:34They're already paying for it right now.
09:36And Selena, so many people on edge.
09:38But while we have you there, what are we learning about the growing backlash
09:42over the FBI and DOJ's decision to close the Jeffrey Epstein case?

09:52even as some of his most loyal supporters are calling for her resignation.
09:56The president took to social media, saying she's doing a fantastic job.
10:00And tonight, he's watching the FIFA soccer match alongside Bondi and others in his presidential box.
10:06Martha?

10:45Oh, my God.
10:46At around 4 o'clock this afternoon, police were alerted to what they're calling a serious incident,

10:57Initial reports suggest there was a collision.
11:00Flight radar shows the plane's path.
11:02Watch as it travels down the runway.
11:04One eyewitness says he saw the plane taking off,
11:07but just three to four seconds later, it started to bang to its left, then crashed into the ground.
11:13I guess for the people at South End, this is just a really shocking moment to have seen this happen.
11:19The incident triggering a quick emergency response.
11:22Police warning people to avoid the airport until further notice.
11:25Martha, an urgent investigation is underway to try to piece together what caused this accident.
11:31Investigators will be taking a look at whether this was a mechanical failure or pilot error.
11:36The airport remains closed until further notice.
11:39Martha.
11:40Lama, thank you.
11:41India's pilots' union is blasting a preliminary report on the crash of Air India Flight 171, calling it biased.

11:59The second pilot denied moving them.
12:01The union claims the report's tone creates a presumption of pilot guilt.
12:06ABC has obtained an internal message Air India sent to its pilots, asking them to review the preliminary report and bring any questions to management.
12:16Now to President Trump teasing a major statement on Russia tomorrow.

12:43The game is about to change.
12:45I expect in the coming days you will see weapons flowing at a record level to help Ukraine defend themselves.
12:53Sources tell ABC News the U.S. and NATO are looking at sending Patriot missile systems to Ukraine,
12:58but it's not clear what would come from European allies or U.S. stockpiles.
13:02Hi, everybody.
13:04Martha asking President Zelensky just weeks ago what would happen if the U.S. did not provide more military aid
13:10and asking if it would mean Russia could win the war.
13:13More, more chance, more quick.
13:15But you know what we will have?
13:17We will have more losses, much more losses.
13:21Without help of the United States, they can give us, they can provide us, for example, missiles for a Patriot or not.
13:29Russia continued to hammer Ukraine this week, night after night from the air, with more than 3,000 drones, bombs and missiles.
13:38Trump voicing his growing frustration with Putin.
13:41I am very disappointed with President Putin.
13:44He'll talk so beautifully and then he'll bomb people at night.
13:47We don't like that.
13:48You're gambling with World War III.
13:50President Trump's once testy relationship with Ukraine's President Zelensky has warmed.

14:38Trump suffered a graze wound to his right ear and a rally attendee was killed.
14:44Today's report from Senator Rand Paul accuses the Secret Service of a complete security breakdown and limited accountability and calls for reforms to agency procedures.

16:22Tonight, Americans are really getting their first taste of the World Cup here in the U.S.
16:26Some of the world's top soccer stars are squaring off at MetLife Stadium here in New Jersey,
16:32usually home turf for the NFL's Jets and the Giants.
16:35But today, tens of thousands of fans were braving the heat,
16:39packing the stands there to watch England's Chelsea take on Paris Saint-Germain, better known as PSG.
16:44And Chelsea won this match 3-0.
16:47And as you can imagine, security was tight with President Trump and First Lady Melania in the crowd,
16:52joining the FIFA president for the national anthem.
16:55And in just over a year, this stadium will be buzzing once again,
16:58maybe with the president back in the stands when it hosts the World Cup final on July 19, 2026.
17:04Martha, the U.S. hasn't made it past the semifinals since 1930.
17:08So the question is, next year, could they go all the way?
17:10Well, we'll hope so, Marcus. Thank you so much.
17:13Now to the escaped inmate, who was all smiles heading back to jail.
17:17Law enforcement officials posed with Cedric Stevenson as they all flew from Seattle to Kentucky last week.

18:22Finally tonight, America Strong, the emotional remembrance for a man who died protecting his family.
18:32On this one-year anniversary of the assassination attempt on then-candidate Donald Trump, we remember Corey Comparator.
18:40The 50-year-old volunteer firefighter was standing on the stage behind Trump when shots rang out, shielding his wife and daughters when he was struck by a bullet.
18:52To mark the anniversary of his death, Comparator's family and community honored him with Corey's Cruise, a nearly 50-mile memorial motorcycle ride in Butler County, Pennsylvania, where the Trump rally had been held.
19:06His daughters, Allison and Kaylee, organized the event.
19:10All proceeds from the event will benefit causes close to Comparator's heart, including local first responders, his church, and a Doberman rescue organization.
19:21He would be so surprised if there's so many people who care about him. I think he'd be in total awe.
19:27And yesterday, close to 1,000 people took part in the ride.
19:31He would say that what he did that day was what any man should do for his wife and his kids.
19:38Later, Corey's widow, Helen, addressed the crowd and gave thanks.
19:43It was so beautiful. I kept thinking, my husband is staring down here just in awe.
