00:04Before we came on the air, you and I were having a conversation that we will now bring forward and continue on air.
00:11Your thoughts on this?
00:13Well, look, Zach Wheeler, to me, going into the year was the favorite in my mind.
00:18I think I locked him in at six or seven to one going into the season.
00:21That's a pretty good number.
00:22Now, obviously, it's gone to minus 140.
00:24And Paul Skeens has moved out of that pole position spot where he's been most of the season to plus 115.
00:29And we kind of touched on this recently on the show about, you know, two or three weeks ago where we said wins don't matter the way they used to, but they still matter a little bit.
00:39And if you can't get the double digit wins, you're not winning a Cy Young.
00:42Only two guys ever got to 10 wins with a Cy Young.
00:45And they were both relievers.
00:47It was Eric Gagne back in the day with his goggles.
00:49And it was Willie Hernandez who also ironically wore glasses.
00:53So maybe he was with relievers, glasses, winning 10.
00:58I don't know if I was a reliever.

01:03But seriously, if you look at what's going on here, I don't even understand how Skeens is second, to be honest.
01:08If you look at the numbers and you really start to dive deeper here, I understand that Paul Skeens has a two ERA.
01:15Fair enough.
01:16Logan Webb has a 294 ERA and a 1.17 whip.
01:19And he's got more strikeouts than Paul Skeens, just putting that out there, and less walks than Paul Skeens.
01:24And he has thrown more innings than Paul Skeens this year.
01:28So to me, Logan Webb is the number two.
01:31And Paul Skeens at this juncture now has 20 starts and four wins, which means he's probably got 10 starts left in him.
01:38Somewhere around 10, right?
01:40Before he gets shut down.
01:41Is he going to make 32 starts for the Pirates this year?
01:43Come on.
01:43He's going to be limited in the second half to five innings.
01:46It's hard to get wins anyway with only pitching five innings because you've got to turn it over the bullpen.
01:50And then you've got to trust this Pirates offense to score when he runs.
01:53So I don't think things are going to get better miraculously for Paul Skeens.
01:56I think this is the last time to bet this award.
01:58And it's really Zach Wheeler's to lose.
02:00I think the only thing that stops Zach Wheeler from winning this is a Zach Wheeler injury, which I do not want to happen.
02:05Again, all the preseason shares I own.
02:08But I just think it's kind of false to even think that Skeens is second, where I think Webb should be the second on this board.
