00:07Attorney at law Martin George is declaring his innocence ahead of his trial date,
00:12at which he will have to defend the charges of grievous sexual assault and indecent assault.
00:18Growing up with a mother and six sisters, respect for females has always been part of my ethos and my character.
00:26I am also a single father of three wonderful daughters, who are all around the same age as this person.
00:36George's public statement comes as a woman has accused him of perpetrating sexual acts against her,
00:43which are alleged to have taken place at his office.
00:46Our employment team has always been at least 80% female,
00:51with more than 30 years of my firm's existence and my interactions have always been professional, courteous and polite.
01:02However, we live in dangerous and treacherous times.
01:07And the easiest thing is for a female to make an allegation of sexual misconduct against a male,
01:13and then the man is left fighting for his life, trying to defend his name, character and integrity.
01:20George further notes he is a well-known public figure.
01:24We've seen these allegations made against all kinds of public figures internationally.
01:29Some with merit, but then again, there are some who are hopelessly unmeritorious and false,
01:36that they seem to be made simply because the person is a public figure whom you're trying to pull down.
01:42And unfortunately, we of the Afro-Diaspora have a particular penchant for pulling down our own,
01:53and this case is no different.
01:55However, George ended the press conference on a high and unexpected note.
02:01To my wonderful and beautiful fiancée, Alicia, I say to you, God did not make us to break us.
02:13He may twist us, bend us, and put us through the fire, but he did not make us to break us.
02:21And our wedding will proceed on 27th December, as promised, and we hope to see as many media people there as we have here today.
02:32And despite what people may say, Ms. Moti says she's standing by her man of six years.
02:39I support him 100 percent. I am going to stand by him throughout this, and he will come through together.
