00:00Transport for London is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a unique tribute from some of its youngest enthusiasts.
00:10As part of the celebrations, the voices of 25 children aged between 5 and 16 are being broadcast around 50 tube and rail stations across the capital.
00:22The children were selected through a competition that received hundreds of entries.
00:27TfL said their recordings, which include cheerful birthday wishes to TfL and familiar messages like Mind the Gap, have been playing regularly during the week at selected stations in London.
00:41According to TfL, the initiative is part of a year-long programme of events marking its milestone anniversary.
00:49They previously held busker competitions as well.
00:53To enter the competition, the children were asked to select their favourite mode of TfL transport, be it buses, the DLR or the London Underground or Overground,
01:03and describe it in 100 words what it meant to them by using creativity and personal insight as well.
01:11Now at a South London station, one of the winners, a tram enthusiast, shared his excitement at hearing his own voice over the public address systems.
01:23I went down to speak to him. Here is what he had to say.
01:27Because ever since I was young, I used to like going on trains and trams a lot and it was really fun actually.
01:37I have a favourite one, Victoria and Clapham, Clapham Junction.
01:41Because it's a very big station, it's very busy and there's lots of trains coming in and stuff.
01:45It's like Britain's busiest stations I believe.
01:49About, oh it's TfL's 25th anniversary and make sure you be safe and mind the gap and stuff.
01:57And remember, mind the gap and wishing you a happy birthday and stuff.
02:05It makes me feel inspired actually.
02:07It makes me feel inspired at trains.
02:09And at home, I watch some train videos as well, pretty much every day.
02:13It's really interesting, I've got a few train games that I play as well.
02:17And they're really fun.
02:19Excited slash nervous actually, just playing it out loud.
02:22Because I played it at home, but playing it in the station, people are hearing it.
02:26But it's still exciting news as well.
02:28No, I just was myself a bit.
02:31I read something.
02:32I read the script, what I was going to say.
02:34Went up to my room and be like, oh here it is.
02:37Hello, my name is Liz. I'm a super fan of trans.
02:39It's TfL's 25th anniversary today.
02:42So join me in the other transport superfans in saying a big happy birthday.
02:47I remember. Mind the gap.
02:50Great.
02:51Yeah, it's great.
02:53How do you feel listening to that?
02:55Felt normal.
02:57I felt fine now.
02:59I felt fine now.
03:02I felt fine.
03:04I felt fine now.
03:05I felt fine now.
03:06We don't know what to do.
03:07We don't know what to do.
03:08It's kind of fine.
03:09But we can't be like, you know, what to do.
03:11And then, we'll do it.
03:12I also have to be like, we can't be like, you know, not to be like, we can be like, you know, because you can do it, right?
