00:00The New York Jets are entering the 2025 NFL season with a brand new look,
00:05and not just in the front office. With a fresh head coach in Aaron Glenn and a new general
00:10manager in Darren Mugey, it's easy for outsiders to assume the Jets are heading into rebuild mode.
00:16But according to star running back Brees Hall, that couldn't be further from the truth.
00:21I think people think the new coaching staff and new GM means a rebuild,
00:26Hall said via the Jets' official site. But we have a lot of really good players on the roster,
00:31so we're trying to win now. And I think a lot of people from the outside are going to take that
00:36for granted and not realize that we actually have a team. Hall, now entering his fourth season with
00:42the Jets, hasn't yet been part of a winning squad. Drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft
00:49out of Iowa State, Hall showed flashes of brilliance early in his career but has also dealt with
00:55a rotating door at quarterback and inconsistent offensive performances.
01:00That might change this year. For starters, Hall will be working with new offensive coordinator
01:06Tanner Engstrand and a fresh face under center, Justin Fields. The Jets traded for Fields this
01:12offseason and signed him to a two-year deal after veteran Aaron Rodgers left for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
01:18Rodgers had finally given the Jets some consistency in 2024,
01:22playing all 17 regular season games, but the organization ultimately opted to move in a
01:28new direction with the younger Fields. Hall seems optimistic about the change.
01:34There's definitely a different energy this year, he said.
01:38New staff, new system, new QB, but the mindset is the same. We want to win. I think we've got the
01:44guys to do it. And Hall sees himself as one of those guys.
01:48Just proving that I'm still the guy and still one of the best in the league,
01:52he said. Just trying to go out there every weekend and prove that I deserve to be out there.
01:59Despite never having hit the 1,000-yard rushing mark in a season, Hall has remained one of the
02:05more explosive and versatile backs in the NFL when healthy. In 2024, he played in all 17 games and had
02:13career highs in total yards from scrimmage, yet still fell just short of the coveted 1K mark on
02:18the ground. But he's not letting that get to him. I don't get too caught up in the stats,
02:25Hall said. Obviously I want to hit 1,000 rushing yards, every back does. But for me it's more about
02:31consistency, being available every game, and helping my team win. If we're winning and I'm contributing,
02:38I'm doing my job. That kind of mindset could pay off in a big way for the Jets this year.
02:44With Fields under center, a revamped offensive scheme, and what looks like a healthy and motivated
02:49Hall, New York might not be the rebuilding project some expect.
02:54I think people are sleeping on us, Hall said with a grin. That's fine. Let him sleep. We'll wake him up
03:01this season. The Jets are set to report to training camp on July 22nd, and expectations,
03:08at least inside the locker room, are already high. We're not treating this like year one of a rebuild,
03:14Hall emphasized. We're treating it like year one of winning.
