00:00You know, when you talk about the WNBA, one of the more intriguing stories and storylines

00:05has been the ascension and the play of Angel Reese.

00:09And Angel Reese has a big matchup today, playing at home versus the Phoenix Mercury.

00:14Phoenix Mercury right now about a 10 and a half or 11 point favorite.

00:17So it kind of gets me thinking about first, about Angel Reese and what she has done over

00:24the course of the season.

00:26So obviously here you go, minus 515 on the money line, but here's where I want to focus

00:30on is Angel.

00:329.1 points per game in the first seven games.

00:34Here's the key stat to look at is right down there to 30.9% from the floor.

00:40As someone that has coached bigs, the shooting percentage split has always been a concern

00:46of mine because as a big, you need to be shooting at least 50 or so percent from the floor.

00:52Now, obviously, assists are fine.

00:53And the rebounds per game, we know it's great.

00:57The thing about the assists that's a little tricky is the fact that number of offense rebounding

01:00touches she gets, she tends to force and put the ball back up rather than kick the ball

01:06back out where everyone is in the lane.

01:08But then something happened.

01:10It's the last four games which Angel Reese has gotten markedly better.

01:15Her points per game are up.

01:17Her rebounds are down.

01:18But look at the assists and look at the field goal for shooting percentages.

01:23She's nearly at 50% and she's nearly doubled her assists right now at 5.5.

01:29There's a couple of reasons why you have to look at why this is taking place right now with

01:34Angel Reese.

01:35Number one, and respectfully, I'm going to say this, Courtney Van Lee still got hurt.

01:41And for them, it was better for Slew to be out of the lineup because I thought from the

01:46get-go that this team was not going anywhere and it was important for them to kind of get

01:51someone going like a Haley Van Lee.

01:53Now, the game that Angel Reese had a triple-double, that was also to get the Haley Van Lee that

01:59had 16.5 rebounds and assists, shot well from the floor, and no one is talking about it.

02:04So to me, getting Van Lee and surrounding Angel Reese with better shooters makes sense.

02:11If you also think about how Chicago played last year, they played markedly better in the

02:15first half of the year.

02:16Everyone's going to talk about Teresa Weatherspoon being let go.

02:20Now, my bigger take is they traded Marina Mabry, a seasoned veteran, a guard, and a guard to

02:27get ready, shoot the ball really well from three.

02:31And her and Kennedy Carter together kind of gave more room for Angel to operate.

02:36Let's get to today's matchup versus Phoenix because now you're going to be like, all right,

02:40coach, you're all over it today.

02:42If you look at it, 12.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, minus 180 for a double-double.

02:47Ready, folks?

02:48This team, the Phoenix Mercury, are one of the best teams in regards to guarding inside.

02:55It was wide that if they would have had John Quill Jones would have played, I would have

02:58went under the prop even though she got hurt.

03:00So this over under 12.5, I'm going under 12.5 points for Angel Reese today.

03:05Maybe she could find her way to the double-double market.

03:07But, Kevin, the way that Phoenix defends inside with Satu Sabley, with Alyssa Thomas, they have

03:14enough guards to pester the perimeter.

03:16I don't think Angel Reese goes over 12.5 points today.

03:19One of the most fascinating games of the WNBA season here, coach, with Reese on the run that

03:27she is currently on.

03:28And then, Tom, Phoenix bringing back Kalia Copper.

03:32And in the props market, not really being priced, in my eyes at least, like it's her first game.

03:37Yeah, this is something we were talking about.

03:38You said it was 14.5 for her point prop.

03:40That's what I saw.

03:41So this is something, as we're coming up against a break shortly, this is something we'll get

03:44into.

03:44We also, tomorrow's game between the Fever and the Aces, one point spread, at least the

03:50last time that I saw, we could also talk about that.

03:51But we both have some action, at least I have some action, in regards to Satu Sabley.

03:57You think it maybe just created some of the value on the Satu numbers?

04:00The Copper coming back and dropping some of the props, potentially?

04:04I like, spoiler for later, some of her combined props.

04:08But also, she's coming off with some bad shooting performances.

04:10And I don't expect that to continue.

04:13I also expect a good amount of points in this game.

04:150 of 8 from 3, I believe, Satu Sabley, most recent.

04:183 of 11, whatever it was overall.

04:19I think it's going to be really interesting, Coach.

04:26But just how this Phoenix team is playing their best basketball of the season.

04:30They just won in New York during this run.

04:33I know they beat the Aces.

04:36Maybe they beat the Storm in there as well.

04:37They've been playing great ball.

04:38Now you bring Copper back.
