00:00Well, I think that certain superstar is something that has stood out to me early season.
00:06The back injury was weird.
00:08You know, people trying to, oh, you're making something.
00:11No, I'm not.
00:12She's the number one player in the league.
00:13You didn't get her on the injury report with anywhere near enough time.
00:17That's weird.
00:18All right.
00:19Now, listen, if it flared up late and okay, that's fine.
00:23But like, it should be a minus money favorite that that doesn't happen again in her career.
00:30Okay.
00:31With that said, she came out of the gate, couldn't make a three in the first two.
00:38And again, some people started talking a little, a little crazy.
00:42Pick your head up.
00:44Look at the numbers.
00:4724, four and nine.
00:51And Aja Wilson is the best player in the world.
00:57And everybody knows it.
00:59But does LeBron James have as many MVPs as he should?
01:04Does Michael Jordan have as many MVPs as he should?
01:08Both camps would say no.
01:12Aja already, by the way, would tell you she doesn't have as many MVPs as she should.
01:18Because I know how much it bothered her not winning the MVP in 2023.
01:23But Aja has won four league MVPs.
01:27Just so everybody understands, just so everybody understands, that's already the most.
01:34She's won two consecutive.
01:36So to be very clear, she is flirting with winning a third straight.
01:43She's the only one to ever win four.
01:45Meaning she, in a three-year window, would match the amount that Lisa Leslie won in her entire career.
01:52And Cheryl Swoops.
01:53And Lauren Jackson.
01:54I say that to say, Aja's the favorite and is the woman to beat.
02:03But voter fatigue, sometimes injuries happen.
02:09There's a reason it's so difficult to win MVPs at that level.
02:14It is why the Kaitlin Clark price, I know a lot of people chalk up to, oh, because it's Kaitlin?
02:23No.
02:25Look at the numbers.
02:27She's going to probably end up top five in points per game, leading the league in assists on a fever
02:34team who will have one of the better records.
02:38And look, the only other contender that I really see, and the odds are starting to shift this way, is
02:45Alicia Gray.
02:47Alyssa Thomas isn't going to be in the mix.
02:48The Mercury just aren't good enough.
02:50Nafisha Cagliar is injured and not in the mix.
02:54Stewie and the Liberty are off to a weird start.
02:57There isn't an MVP candidate on Golden State on the Chicago sky.
03:03Paige Beckers is not there yet, guys.
03:05The Dallas Wings are not there yet.
03:07Despite everybody wanting to run and tell you that Paige is way better than Clark, it's not there yet.
03:13So it's an MVP race between the standard in this sport and Aja Wilson.
03:20But if any of the things that stop the all-time greats from winning, LeBron should have won five in
03:26a row.
03:26But instead they gave one to Derrick Rose because they were mad he switched teams.
03:31Sometimes we find reasons, right?
03:35Clark and Gray are absolutely in this mix, coach, when it comes to league MVP.
03:40I agree.
03:41And I think with the Liberty, those superstars are all going to cancel each other out between Stewie, Inescu, John
03:48Quell, and Sabley.
03:49So the stats will never be there for any of them.
03:51I will say this, if Indiana is a top four seed in the WNBA by the end of the season,
03:58they're giving her the MVP for two reasons.
04:02One, because of the voter fatigue.
04:03And two, that's the best thing for the league.
04:06It's good.
04:06Thanks.
04:06Bye.
