00:00I got to ask you about Sophie Cunningham. You know, she's standing on a conservative platform right now. Is that
00:06in the best interest of her brand to be doing that? Because, again, there's so many other topics on the
00:14other side with liberals. Is this good for her brand, for her to be doing this? Because you know she's
00:21going to be ostracized by many people, especially in the media, for her position, for her conservatism.
00:26I mean, she's standing up for many platforms right now. She's almost the voice of common sense. I don't believe
00:33dudes should be in women's sports either. I mean, I'm a believer in protecting women's rights and women's sports, okay?
00:39Title IX, all of that. I mean, is she doing the right thing, though, for her brand?
00:46I'll say this right now, and I want people to understand what I'm about to say. For her brand, socially,
00:52yes. Why? People are talking about her. She's constantly in the news.
00:59And she was the one that stepped up this last week and said, we need a bold commissioner. So, yeah,
01:07is it helping her brand? But she also stood on business where a lot of WNBA players are not in
01:13saying that there needs to be a change at the top of the leadership ticket of the WNBA.
01:18You know me, Big Sills. There's certain things I don't talk about. Religion, politics, that's my kind of thing. But
01:25if you're talking about for Sophie Cunningham, for her social brand, and for her chance for sponsorship, listen, you may
01:33be pissing off half the country, but you got the other half on your side, too.
01:37And at least socially for her, she's going to do pretty well. As long as she ready, folks, continues. I
01:44know people want to knock her when she doesn't play well. As long as Indiana keeps playing well, and she's
01:49a valuable contributor to the team, it will still help her socially in regards to her content and her own
01:54brand.
01:56Is there a person, next year, when her contract, Kathy Engelbert's contract runs out, because it runs out next year,
02:03is there a person that you'd like to see maybe get an opportunity to run the WNBA?
02:10I will say this. Whether that person is, I want to give you my counsel. You got to go to
02:16the bedrocks of this sport, the people that built the foundation.
02:19Go get Cynthia Cooper. Go get Sue Bird. Go get Diana Tarazi. Go get Lisa Leslie. Go get the pillars
02:28that built up the sport and say, how do we do this?
02:31How do we bridge the gap? Because what's amazing about the WNBA is those players, even though they get mad
02:37at Caitlin Clark, they are supportive of the league and what it does.
02:42Go to them and say, who leads us? And maybe you go to Tarazi or you go to Sue Bird
02:47and say,
02:47we need you to be a spokesman for this league. We'll give you a VP role as a commissioner to
02:53let you be the face of the league in regards to communication out to the public.
