00:00A transport think tank has asked if Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad was focused more on
00:06meeting deadlines than on ensuring full resolution of issues related to the KLIA Terminal 1
00:11aerotrain following the latest service disruption. Afi Griswan, Chief Operating Officer of My
00:18Mobility Vision, told FMT the repeated breakdowns raised a host of questions, including whether
00:24the airport operator had measured success by completion time. The aerotrain service broke
00:29down yet again on Tuesday, which MAHB attributed to a power system malfunction, forcing passengers
00:35to walk along the tracks in the dark while carrying their luggage. Tuesday's breakdown was the
00:40second in under two weeks following an earlier disruption on October 15th. Given the spate
00:46of issues plaguing the service, Afik wondered if the decision makers thought that almost
00:50ready would be good enough. Afik warned that such disruptions will persist until the country
00:55sheds its culture of prioritizing launch over reliability and ceremony over competence.
01:02Afik welcomed MAHB's decision to appoint an independent assessor following the initial disruption but
01:07insisted that transparency was vital in getting to the root of the problem.
