Hot weather is headed for the Northeast this weekend and is expected to continue through next week. AccuWeather's Ariella Scalese explains just how hot it's going to be.

00:00It's just going to be hot. Look at Sunday. Everybody well into the 90s. DC 96, Philadelphia 94, 90 in both Boston and New York City.
00:09And that is really just the beginning as the heat's going to be spreading from June 23rd to the 25th here.
00:15High is 5 to 15 above the historical average. Luckily, this is a drier pattern, but it goes from the wet and cool to very hot.
00:23And for Philadelphia, this is the exclusive AccuWeather heat wave severity index here, and we will be talking about a strong heat wave from the 22nd to the 28th.
00:31You can see strong is anywhere from 13 to 22, and we'll be at 16, so kind of in the midpoint of that.

00:41Once we hit the 90s on Sunday, they just continue up until at least next Friday.
