AccuWeather's Ariella Scalese gives us a quick look at what the weather's shaping up to be for the second weekend of October.
Transcript
00:00well if there's one thing to know for the upcoming weekend it's going to be along the
00:07mid-atlantic coast here with wind rain and erosion we've been covering that in depth and we'll
00:12continue to on AccuEther early but I do want to focus other parts of the country as we head into
00:17the weekend a lot of us for our first weekend of October it was pretty warm so maybe didn't get
00:21quite into the fall feel yet but we're going to have some cooler air moving back in the northeast
00:25it does still stay very warm across the plains even from southern plains to the northern plains
00:30and turning much cooler for the west coast as we watch this big dip in the jet stream come on shore
00:35and that's going to bring rain for the coast and even some more snow back into the Cascades the
00:40Bitterroots even into the northern part of the Sierra snow levels above 7,000 feet which could
00:45make it difficult for the passes and it started to spark my interest like when do the ski resorts
00:49open well I looked at some information here looking at Wolf Creek Ski Area in Colorado that looks to be
00:54the projected first opening of October 24th a lot of the locations in Colorado and then as we start
01:00to get into the month of November we start to see some other states jump in like Oregon and Arizona so
01:04it's going to be here before we know it the ski season meanwhile we transition precipitation types
01:10from winter weather to showers with drenching thunderstorms bringing a flash flooding risk that
01:14will still linger into the weekend across a lot of the southwest so we could see several inches of rain
01:19when we go through Saturday night and then more moisture will be following that it will be drier
01:25though into the northeast at least to start the weekend but that coastal system that we are
01:29following that will bring the return of rain as we head into Sunday for some major cities and of course
01:34the southeast is going to be getting big impacts especially along the Carolina coast and into the
01:38outer banks areas like Atlanta and New Orleans though have a pretty pleasant weekend all right speaking of
01:43fall things Halloween countdown is on we already got our Halloween candy will it make it the 23 days
01:49until Halloween we will see we'll be right back
