The stars took the spotlight on day two of the Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships on Tusday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium. Darius Harding proved his dominance over the 5000 meters and Noemi Theodore stole the show in the girls 17 and over 200 meter final.
00:00The race is on for the 5,000 meters. Darius Harding, the favorite to win. He's out to prove that he's the big dog at the secondary school's track and field championships after missing out at Carifta. His opponents were no pushovers. Isaiah Alder, Shane Bassoon lurking behind him, but how long could they keep up?
00:18Harding would live up to the favorite's tag as he began to increase the gap. He would surge to the line in record time as his labor comes to an end today at 16.12 seconds, Alder behind him.
00:31Then it was over to the 200 meters for under-17 boys. Alex Cipersad, who also represented TNT at Carifta Games, was a class above the rest, winning in 21.31 seconds.
00:42Already we've seen Alex Cipersad looking to inch his nose forward. And Cipersad will bring them home into the final 100 meters. And he's pursued by Douglas. But it's going to be Alex Cipersad comfortably.
