02:53Tonight, Eric Young, the latest releasee at TNA Wrestling,
02:57requested his release quite some time ago.
02:59Ended up staying with the company through Slammiversary, short-term deal.
03:03He's actually refuted the reports that he was working without a contract for a long time,
03:07and TNA says he's been under contract the whole time.
03:09But he has now been officially released from TNA Wrestling.
03:12It is expected he's headed back to NXT.
03:14As a matter of fact, per Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer,
03:18he said that he will essentially be effectively a player coach.
03:21He compared him to Sean Spears, where he will compete,
03:24but he'll also be helping behind the scenes.
03:26And I think it's a great role for him.
03:28He's somebody that Triple H has always been a huge fan of.
03:30He was there for a couple times running the Sanity Faction.
03:33I think they could have done a whole lot more with.
03:35He was originally supposedly planned to be a part of the Wyatt Six,
03:39which never came to fruition.
03:40So we'll have to see what they do with him this time around.
03:42But anybody who adds Eric Young to their roster, that's a quality get.
03:48It really is.
03:48He brings so much experience.
03:49Two-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
03:52He's held many other championships throughout his illustrious career,
03:54including the NXT Tag Team Championship.
03:57So he's had some success in WWE before.
03:59So happy for him to see him get a new home and a new opportunity.
04:03Shaq Wrestling doing an interview with Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge,
04:07and the conversation shifted to his retirement plans,
04:10where he made it clear that 95% of the matches he still wants to have are out there,
04:16which is exciting.
04:17And he actually made reference to the fact that he kind of has to shift the retirement date a little
04:22bit
04:22because of injuries and other issues, filming, the Percy Jackson thing, all that kind of stuff.
04:27So at this point, not sure when he's going to retire.
04:30He wanted to retire by the time he turned 54.
04:32That's going to come and go, apparently.
04:34And he's still with us and still competing.
04:36And he's competing at a high level, putting on quality matches.
04:39So, you know, I'm not in a hurry to push him out the door, that's for sure.
04:42But definitely interesting to hear that update that he's not going to be...
04:44Originally, everybody thought he was going to go in October.
04:46And apparently that is not the case anymore.
04:48And congratulations to him on extending that career even longer
04:51after having to give it up for, you know, nine years or something like that
04:54when he had to retire earlier.
04:56Hangman Page is set to return.
04:58He has been gone since losing to MJF, that match where if he lost,
05:02he could never challenge for the AEW championship again.
05:06I always thought it was a really stupid condition.
05:08You could have, you could never challenge me for a championship again,
05:12but you should never say you should never challenge for that championship again.
05:15That's ludicrous.
05:17The reality of this is that that championship is why people want to get into wrestling.
05:21If you're an AEW superstar, you want to be world champion.
05:24It's too much to take off the table.
05:27Take it away from a particular opponent makes a lot of sense.
05:30I've seen that in several companies all throughout wrestling history.
05:33But taking away any opportunity to ever be AEW champion again,
05:36a little, little ridiculous in my opinion.
05:38But he is set to return and just in time for Beach Break,
05:42like the Dynamite episode next week, which we're going to get into a little bit
05:46as we review this week's Dynamite, because it was an absolutely crazy episode.
05:51We had all sorts of things.
05:52And look, I'm going to be out of order because I just don't care.
05:55I've won.
05:56Let me go with some of the things I enjoyed.
05:58Hirakushita winning the TBS championship at the end of the night.
06:01Fantastic.
06:02I thought that was wonderful.
06:03She's been in the company quite a while.
06:04Deserves an opportunity to run with a belt.
06:06Perfect belt to give her.
06:08She's believable.
06:09A lot of people were really into Persephone, who was really tearing it up in this match.
06:13And then were a little bit upset that Chris Statlander eliminated Persephone.
06:17And then Persephone ends up hitting Statlander with the belt,
06:19which ended up giving Sheeta the win.
06:22A lot of interesting stuff going on there.
06:23Maybe we see a three-way at Wembley.
06:25I don't know.
06:25We do have other things coming before Wembley.
06:28So we'll have to see what happens.
06:29But congratulations to Hirakushita for winning the TBS championship.
06:33Kevin Knight and Leo Rush had probably the best match of the night.
06:36Well, maybe that's not true.
06:38The world championship match was pretty solid, too.
06:39But they had a great match.
06:41I don't think Kevin Knight knows how to have a bad match.
06:43And I don't think Leo Rush does either.
06:45Knight wins the match.
06:46It looks like there's going to be a beatdown by the Don Callis family
06:48when Darby Allin comes out to make the save.
06:51He wants a TNT championship match.
06:54Kevin Knight is refusing to give him one.
06:57Don Callis basically tells him that he's a thief and that they don't do that.
07:02They don't give criminals opportunities.
07:04So obviously, that's the match we're going to get at some point.
07:07But I did enjoy this.
07:08I thought it was solid.
07:09I don't understand why Darby Allin will fight so hard to get in a world championship picture
07:12and then take a step back to the TNT title.
07:14That seems a little strange to me.
07:15But whatever.
07:16It is what it is.
07:17We had vignettes in the back with Will Ospreay after Forbidden Door with Kenny Omega and MJF.
07:24There's a lot of swirling around with Moxley offering Deathriders membership to Ospreay,
07:31which appears as though he accepted.
07:34There's a lot going on there.
07:35A lot of people at the top of the card.
07:37Not sure where it's going to go.
07:37I think over time we'll see Ospreay and Mox, obviously.
07:41And before this show, I would have said we probably will see MJF Omega.
07:44We'll get into that in a second.
07:46But a lot going on there.
07:47We did see a brawl backstage between Chris Jericho and Tommaso Ciampa.
07:52I love this.
07:53It's keeping Jericho out of the main picture, but still very relevant and giving somebody
07:57like Tommaso Ciampa an opportunity to really be a part of something meaningful with somebody
08:02who has been a legend in the business, but isn't necessarily at the top of the card anymore.
08:06But he's still contributing in a major, major way.
08:08And I love this feud.
08:10I think it's fantastic.
08:12There was an interview with Andrade in the back.
08:14He ends up getting blindsided and attacked by the Don Callis family.
08:17Everybody from, you know, Cage to, I always forget his name, Murdoch Monster.
08:26What's his name?
08:28Oh gosh, he's going to shoot me because I've been messaging the guy trying to get an interview
08:31with him too.
08:32But you know what I'm saying.
08:33The whole Don Callis family lays him out.
08:36Obviously he wants a championship opportunity.
08:38That's what he was upset with the Don Callis family for to begin with.
08:42It has not happened yet.
08:44So we'll have to wait and see when that does happen.
08:46I think that's a good match to possibly have at the last pay-per-view prior to Wembley,
08:53which, is it Redemption, I believe, or something like that.
08:56So maybe that's where they do that match.
08:58They got to do it at some point.
09:01And now let's get into some of the other serious stuff we have.
09:04Well, let's do, okay.
09:05Dumb stuff first.
09:07Ospreay and Mox taking on Lee Johnson, Blake Christian.
09:10Fine, it's a TV match.
09:12Obviously Ospreay and Mox were going to win, but it was a solid match.
09:15I love that Lee Johnson and Blake Christian get to get in there with some superstar talent.
09:19We did see Jay White cut a promo on the Dogs.
09:21Obviously that feud is going to build to something huge probably also at Wembley,
09:25especially considering everybody's background and history.
09:28So that would be a perfect place to blow that off.
09:29But let's get into what the big conversation of the night is.
09:33Starting with the World Championship match, MJF versus Mark Briscoe.
09:38This was bloody from the start.
09:40Brutal, high impact, great exchanges.
09:44The froggy bow in the ring, the froggy bow outside the ring,
09:48through a table, onto the floor, exposed concrete.
09:52All of it.
09:54The diamond ring, everything involved.
09:56Weapons, galore, chairs.
09:58I love the match.
09:59I thought it was solid.
10:00It really showcased Mark Briscoe.
10:01And I really thought it was interesting on commentary when they talked about how Mark Briscoe
10:04felt like after the loss of his brother that he was kind of a rookie as a singles wrestler
10:08because most of his career has been in tag teams.
10:10And you could just see he's done, he's come so far.
10:13He really has.
10:14What a great talent.
10:15Congrats to Mark Briscoe on a phenomenal match.
10:17MJF does come out the winner, which, you know, it was shocking to see him kick out
10:23from the finisher and then get the win and everything in such short order.
10:26But, you know, that's what we needed because you knew they weren't going to put Mark Briscoe
10:30in the main event at Wembley.
10:31That being said, Kenny Omega comes out when he continues to beat down after the match.
10:35Omega makes it clear he wants an opportunity.
10:38He gets rejected by MJF, who then says Big Hebrew has a great idea.
10:43And the great idea is that he'll face him next week on Dynamite at Beach Blast or whatever
10:48they're calling it, on the same condition that Adam Hangman Page did.
10:53If he loses, he can never challenge for the AEW World Championship again.
10:57Again, I think this is a stupid, stupid stipulation.
11:01You could never challenge as long as I'm champion makes sense to me.
11:04Never challenging again, period, does not make a drop of sense to me.
11:08Absolutely terrible.
11:09It hamstrings your booking.
11:10If you ever have an issue with somebody getting injured and you had to plug, say,
11:14Hangman Page in for some reason or if Kenny were to lose, Kenny into something, it can't
11:18be for a title because you already, you know, crapped a bet on that if you don't give him
11:23the championship win.
11:24So he had all night to make up his mind.
11:26He did consult with the Young Bucks, told him he needs to do this alone.
11:29And then at the end of the night, he did make it official.
11:31He will challenge for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship next week on Dynamite.
11:36Look, it was a solid show top to bottom.
11:38I saw people who weren't happy with the show, too predictable, TV, this, that, and the other.
11:42Look, you got to see every major star for the most part in the company who's not injured,
11:46who's active.
11:47You got to see meaningful storylines, championship matches, quality wrestling.
11:52You got to see some of the young guys get in there with some of the established superstars.
11:56This was a great show top to bottom.
11:58I really enjoyed it.
11:59Kudos to Tony Khan.
12:00He's been doing a great job lately, you know.
12:02There was a Mercedes-Money interview at some point.
12:05Like, just everybody was a part of this show.
12:07It was great.
12:08I think AEW's putting out some really great television.
12:11And I'm looking forward to seeing more of that in the near future.
