Despite being diagnosed with terminal cancer, Lesley Anne Baker made it her mission to see lifesaving defibrillators installed in every village in Washington.

00:00Okay then Christine, how would Leslie feel knowing the day that her mission's been
00:04accomplished and we now have a defibrillator in every village in Washington?
00:07Leslie would be absolutely buzzing, she fought so hard with her own health
00:11but she tried always to get help into the villages with the defibs.
00:16She always said, Ma'am I'm going to get one into Bellows for you because I live nearby
00:21which always makes us laugh but yes she would be absolutely buzzing
00:27and I am so proud of her, absolutely immensely proud.
00:32Okay then Nev, you've been heavily involved in Leslie's Legacy Walks and
00:36getting these defibrillators installed, just how vital pieces of equipment are there?
00:42These community defibrillators are massive, very important, obviously if someone has a car
00:50to arrest and stop breathing every second counts so basically we need to establish that person
00:57and stop breathing, ring for an ambulance straight away and then start immediate CPR.
01:03Once, while that's happening we need to be looking at getting a defibrillator because we don't know
01:08how long the ambulance is going to be before it gets there so basically we need that defibrillator
01:14as soon as we can, possibly can, so it's important that everyone knows where the community defibrillators are
01:22and health and the ambulance give them a code how to get into them and then get them to wherever it
01:28needs to be and it's all so it's important that people know where their nearest defibrillators are
01:35so we can get to them as soon as we can and that person has got a much better chance of survival
01:42the sooner the defibrillator gets there.
