00:01Rafizi Ramli appears set to follow through with his decision to resign as

00:05economy minister despite Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressing hope that he

00:10and another minister who recently quit the cabinet would reconsider their

00:14decisions. In the post on X, Rafizi reflected on his last day at the

00:19ministry thanking his team of policy officers for their efforts in

00:23implementing economic initiatives. He said he went into his office for the

00:28last time yesterday and again today to settle final matters including clearing

00:33out his workspace. He said he had persuaded some members on his team to

00:38leave their previous careers to serve in his office and they were crucial in

00:42turning his ideas into executable plans. He added that they will now return to

00:47their respective fields. Rafizi and Natural Resources and Environmental

00:52Sustainability Minister Nik Naswi Nik Ahmad submitted their resignation letters on

00:57May 28th. However, Anwar said yesterday that while he had received the leave

01:02applications and resignation letters from the duo, he had only approved their

01:06applications to go on the east.
