00:00Is there someone for you that feels like the favorite for this job right now?
00:07Favorite in terms of who I think they will hire or should hire.
00:13I'll take either one.
00:14Because I think Mike Malone or Taylor Jenkins are easy answers.
00:18Right?
00:19Like, listen, Malone, because think of that opening press conference.
00:22Yeah.
00:23Right?
00:23And, oh, he's a championship coach.
00:26He knows how to deal with a star.
00:27He's done X, Y, and Z.
00:28And, again, this is, hey, maybe they do get a Tentacumpo.
00:31Maybe they do make a big move for a Tentacumpo.
00:33So he knows how to handle a star player.
00:36He's a proven coach.
00:38So it's not as if the Knicks fans would be thinking, oh, there's some uneasiness because we are taking some, you know, like an OC in the NFL, taking a random shot on this guy who's unproven.
00:48It's like this guy has done it before.
00:50He knows how to work with the pieces.
00:51Sure, it's not the same market in Denver as it is in New York, but that seems like an easy answer for him or Taylor Jenkins.
00:56I think that's where they'll ultimately end up because, again, I think the level of discomfort Knicks fans would have with an unproven coach would be too much.
01:07So I think that is fair.
01:10I think that Johnny Bryant, though, since he was someone that was kind of with the Knicks and like Knicks fans actually know who Johnny Bryant is.
01:18He got good reviews from them, good reviews from his time in Cleveland, and I think one of his selling points on Johnny Bryant is the unproven nature.
01:29What if he is amazing, right?
01:31I also think due to, again, the relationships that Tibbs certainly had with certain guys was strong.
01:38Those guys likely also have good relationships with Johnny Bryant, so maybe that can lessen the blow.
01:44I think he is the favorite for the job.
01:47I thought Michael Malone was the second.
01:49We've seen some reporting that maybe they're not as interested.
01:52The Malone selling point is very simple.
01:55He won a championship.
01:56That is the entire—
01:58Now, and when someone counters with, but they had Jokic, there's no counter to that.
02:04Right?
02:04They did.
02:05Yeah.
02:05Right?
02:06I think it's very interesting that the Knicks are trying to bring in very much so employed coaches like Jason Kidd and Eme Udoka and Chris Finch.
02:18I think it speaks very much so to your point that this is a team that who's not looking to—
02:25Firing Tom Thibodeau was a risk, yet it doesn't seem like they wanted to take a risk in the hire, right?
02:29When you hire a coach like a Malone or a Taylor Jenkins or you bring in a Jason Kidd, that's like a, oh, I can sleep comfortably at night all warm and cozy type of feel.
02:41Again, when an NFL team hires an unproven OC, it's like, listen, he's a genius offensively, but can he handle managing a game?
02:49It's a very different thing.
02:50So when you see an unproven coach, like, we can get into some of these odds that you see here, whether J. Wright, John Calipari, Rick Pitino, these names that have been floated around I think are insane.
03:01Dan Hurley would be far more interesting to me than any of those guys.
03:06But I would entertain those before I would entertain—
03:11The college guys.
03:12So first of all, J. Wright's not going to be the coach.
03:14That whole thing is a Villanova pipe dream.
03:16That's never happening.
03:17I wouldn't give Hurley the time of day, quite frankly, because I don't think he was serious about the Laker job.
03:22So to me, if I'm the Knicks, I'm not going to go through that process when he just, again, didn't take another process serious.
03:29And I believe that.
03:30I do not believe he took the Laker process serious.
03:32Solely for me.
03:33Yes.
03:33What I would say of the employed coaches, people keep talking about Jason Kidd.
03:42I think that Jason Kidd may be able to keep the Mavs job forever because of the whole Luka thing was so crazy.
03:49They might be like, listen, he stuck with us.
03:51I think Ime should be more on the board than everyone else.
03:55For people who say the Rockets have a better outlook than the Knicks, I push back on the certainty people say that with.
04:01But more so, Ime Utoka didn't want to be the Rockets coach.
04:07He wanted to be the Celtics coach.
04:09And then things happened and he had to move on.
04:12I think if Ime was allowed to, he'd be the Knicks coach immediately.
04:18A little bit of revenge.
