Transcript
00:00Well, the Kong Dong to the FIFA World Cup is on, and today the official match ball was unveiled,
00:05complete with a name that celebrates the tournament's three host nations, Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
00:12And with travel concerns making headlines, the U.S. State Department has stepped up,
00:16increasing staffing at embassies worldwide to help fans secure their visas in time for the tournament.
00:23Well, a hologram show here in New York featuring Lionel Messi in a few seconds
00:27that helped launch the official ball for next year's Men's World Cup.
00:31It's called Trionda, that's Spanish for three waves, which reflects the three host nations,
00:37namely the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
00:40The draw for the first ever 48-team World Cup is coming up.
00:43It takes place in Washington, D.C. on December the 5th.
00:48It comes after tickets for the tournament, which is being hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico,
00:53went on sale on Wednesday.
00:54Fans coming from countries not enrolled in the United States visa waiver program
00:59will need to schedule in-person interviews and go through enhanced security screenings.
01:05The application process, which is also set to be longer and more costly,
01:10comes amid worries over the Trump administration's crackdown on migration to the U.S.
01:15Look up great again.
01:18Well, the English Premier League weaves its way into the mix where Bondsmouth is making an early statement
01:24as a top contender.
01:25You heard that correctly.
01:27The Cherries were stunned in the 70th minute when Fulham went ahead.
01:33But Antoine Semenyo quickly turned the game on his head, doing this and that and that.
01:40Brilliant equalizer.
01:43Well, the comeback continued when Justin Clivewood unleashed a stunning strike
01:47to put Bondsmouth ahead 2-1, looking at his father there.
01:51And in added on time, Semenyo completed his brace, capping a sensational 3-1 win
01:56and putting the Cherries on the top, or the cherry on the top for the Cherries.
02:02See what I did there?
02:03Well, things haven't gone the way of Liverpool recently.
02:06However, their manager, Arne Slott, is staying confident in his players
02:10while defending his record signing Alexander Isak after his through start.
02:15Well, manager Arne Slott facing some unusual scrutiny.
02:19The English Premier League champions have lost their last two games.
02:22They are still top of the table heading in to Saturday's match at Chelsea.
02:26Slott says his record signer, Alexander Isak there, is still working towards full fitness.
02:31That is what we inherited from the situation of him not being with the team in Newcastle.
02:41And we knew this before, so it's not an excuse.
02:44He already scored a goal.
02:46He gets fitter and fitter, but the main thing, he needs to adjust to his teammates
02:50and the teammates need to adjust to him.
02:52And the more you play together, the better things will work.
02:54Oh, Angie has to go.
02:58That's the call from Forrest fans who want former Tottenham manager Angie Postacoglu
03:03fired as he is gone winless and sticking over.
03:06And Roma, well, they've created an unwanted feat
03:09as they had three penalty kicks in a row missed.
03:13A 3-2 Europa League defeat to Midtjylland spelled the first time in 100 years
03:19that a Forrest manager has failed to win any of his first six games.
03:23Postacoglu took over last month after the surprise sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo.
03:29The side haven't won since the opening day of the season.
03:32And bizarre scenes in Roma's match against Lille
03:37as Lille goalkeeper Berkay Osser saved three penalties in a row.
03:42The home side's first spot kick had to be retaken for encroachment.
03:46The next effort had to be retaken because of Osser leaving his line.
03:51But the third time, there were no violations.
03:54Osser's efforts helping Lille hang on for a 1-0 win.
03:58A Martin Palermo moment.
04:01Well, the Women's Cricket World Cup comes into focus
04:04and four-time winners England opened their campaign
04:06with an emphatic 10-wicket win over South Africa.
04:09The Proteus were skittled out for only 69 runs.
04:13That's right, only 69 runs.
04:15With Lindsay Smith grabbing three wickets for only seven runs.
04:19England then steamrolled their way to 73 without losing a wicket
04:22to win with over almost 35 overs to spare.
04:25England's choice to bat first could not have been a better decision
04:30against South Africa.
04:31After losing their skipper Laura Volva to Lindsay Smith,
04:34the spinner would add another.
04:36And she would strike a third in a frugal opening spell
04:39as the Proteus were quickly 19 for four.
04:41This is a phenomenal start.
04:43In fact, England had effectively won this match in the first power play
04:47with half of the South African batting order in the stands.
04:51That looks out.
04:52Sinola Jaffa was the only batter to get into double figures
04:56with a top score of 22.
04:58Go to the boundary.
04:59But England were ruthless and economical.
05:02South Africa could only survive 20.4 overs of the 50.
05:07As they folded for their third lowest ODI total.
05:11Charlie Dean finished.
05:12In contrast, England were in cruise control in their run chase.
05:16She loves that length.
05:17Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones' mission was to wipe out the target
05:21as quickly as possible.
05:22Amy Jones, some aggression.
05:25Even then, the Proteus didn't take the few chances on offer.
05:28Came slower than she thought.
05:30She stuck her hand out and it was still on the way.
05:34And the pair made good on their fortune
05:35as they powered home to 73 in only 14.1 overs.
05:40A comfortable win for England.
05:41England getting off to a fantastic start, winning by 10 wickets
05:44while significantly boosting their net run rate.
05:48Terrence Clark, TV6 Sport.
05:50Got to hold on to your catches.
05:52All right, buckle up as we shift gears.
05:54And it was a tough day for Lando Norris in practice.
05:58Well, that's for the Singapore Grand Prix.
06:00The McLaren driver finished fifth after a collision,
06:03leaving him with work to do ahead of qualifying.
06:06His teammate Oscar Piastri, however, had a much brighter session,
06:09topping the timesheets as the fastest driver in practice.
06:13The McLaren driver here colliding with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in the pit lane.
06:18Norris' car needed a new front wing, but he was able to rejoin the action.
06:22His teammate Oscar Piastri recorded the quickest lap in this session.
06:25Piastri just ahead of Norris in the overall championship standings
06:29with Red Bull's Max Verstappen in third.
06:33I say Ferrari had the right of way.
06:35Well, the new NBA season is almost here and preseason action is already on the way.
06:40And the New York Knicks got things started with a win in Abu Dhabi.
06:44And for fans of the splash, there's even more excitement as the Curry brothers will team up
06:49for the first time in Golden State.
06:51As Steph Curry's brother, Seth, joins the Warriors.
06:54More Curry, more chaos on the court.
06:58The New York Knicks beat the Philadelphia 76ers in an NBA preseason game in Abu Dhabi.
07:03Knicks stars Jalen Brunson and Carl Anthony Towns got on the scoreboard to lead New York to a 99-84 victory.
07:10Well, Seth Curry has signed a deal to join older brother and two-time MVP Steph at the Golden State Warriors
07:19for the upcoming NBA season.
07:21The signing marks the first time the siblings will share the court as teammates in a regular season.
07:26Yeah, everybody's excited about it.
07:29The whole family is thinking, instead of watching multiple games, it should be just easier to watch one game,
07:36which is easier on everybody.
07:38Everybody's excited about it, except maybe my dad, who didn't want to see me leave Charlotte.
07:42That's it.
07:43Oh, is it Seth Curry?
07:46Oh, Curry's Seth.
07:47Well, we'll find out later on.
07:49Unity is key, though, as tennis legend Novak Djokovic is urging players to come together
07:54if they want to tackle the congested tennis calendar.
07:58Well, the call comes amidst growing concerns from players over the physical and mental demands of the packed schedule.
08:05His comments come after fellow Grand Slam champion Iga Svienta called the congested calendar crazy.
08:10The Polish star has already played 70 matches this year.
08:14Djokovic is set to play in the first round of the Shanghai Masters on Friday,
08:18one of seven Masters tournaments that have been extended from seven days to 12.
08:25As part of the ATP's One Vision strategy to increase commercial opportunities,
08:30seven of the nine Masters tournaments have been extended from seven days to 12.
08:35Tennis' governing bodies say it's up to the players to manage their own schedules.
08:39Starting last year, it became mandatory for top women's players to participate in all four Grand Slams,
08:4710 WTA 1,000 events, and six 500-level tournaments.
08:52Djokovic is a co-founder of the Professional Tennis Players Association
08:56and filed a lawsuit earlier this year against tennis' governing bodies alleging disregard for player welfare.
09:04There are people who just don't want to change things in our sport, you know,
09:08for the better in terms of when it comes to the players' welfare.
09:12You know, because everybody works in their own interest, and that's logical, I guess, business sense.
09:22In the end, as a player and as someone that has been playing on the highest level for more than 20 years,
09:28I can say that the players are not united enough.
09:31South Africa made merry against debutants New Caledonia at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Chile.
09:49They won the clash 5-0 and surely saved the best for last,
09:53starting with some neat knocking and ending with a firecracker of a shot.
09:56That was brilliant football from the young Bafana Bafana,
10:05topped off with a superb finish from Lazola Macu to earn tonight's TV6 play-off today.
10:11What an excellent finish.
10:15What an excellent finish. Top of top finish, if you ask me.
10:18All right, that is it for sports for the team.
10:21I'm James Saunders. Do have yourself a wonderful weekend.
