More than 15 individuals were detained following raids on a migrant smuggling syndicate in Kuala Selangor on Tuesday (Nov 11).

Immigration director general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the operation was based on intelligence and public tip offs.

00:16The anti-trafficking in persons, anti-smuggling of migrants, anti-money laundering divisions
00:22and the intelligence and special operations division conducted the raids on Tuesday.
00:27Enforcement personnel stormed premises concealed behind a grocery store and eatery, which served
00:32as a transit point for migrants destined for Indonesia via illegal routes.
00:38The location was equipped with living quarters, bathrooms and a kitchen.
00:42Nine Indonesian migrants, seven men and two women aged 20 to 45 were detained, along with
00:49two male transporters from Nepal and Indonesia.
00:52A vehicle used by the syndicate was seized.
00:55A follow-up operation at a nearby double-story terrace house resulted in six additional
01:01arrests — three Indonesian men and three women aged 22 to 40.
01:06Initial investigations revealed the migrants were housed at both premises before being smuggled
01:11out through illegal sea routes off Kuala Silango.
