00:00We respectfully disagree with this outcome.

00:05The eight questions raised were not abstract or academic.

00:09They concerned serious and unresolved constitutional issues,

00:16including the protection of executive function, including the Prime Minister's Office.

00:22In accordance with the law, we will be filing an immediate appeal to the Court of Appeal today

00:27against the High Court's decision.

00:29We will also be applying for an immediate stay of trial proceedings

00:33to preserve the integrity of the appeal process

00:36and ensure that the defendant is not prematurely subjected to proceedings

00:40that may ultimately be held to be constitutionally impermissible

00:45and that may harm the functioning of his office.

00:49The constitutional questions raised go beyond the facts of this case.

00:53They touch on the limits of legal process, the dignity of high public office,

00:58and the structural safeguards embedded in our constitution.
