00:00Hello again.
00:01It was a warm and muggy end to meteorological spring for many of us, and some will see pretty
00:06sunsets like this tonight.
00:08But it's not the same for everyone.
00:10In the north and the west, we've got some showers or longer spells of rain through the
00:13course of this evening and overnight.
00:15Those showers tend to migrate their way slowly eastwards across England and Wales too, but
00:19many places in the south and the east staying largely dry.
00:23The showers, though, really start to pack in once again though as we go into the early
00:26hours for Northern Ireland, northern and western Scotland, some longer spells of rain arriving
00:30here, some heavy bursts and the odd rumble of thunder by the morning too, and those winds
00:34starting to increase once again as well.
00:38For all of us though, it will be a fresher night compared to of late, perhaps the one exception
00:42being the far south east of England where we'll hold on to something a little warmer and more
00:46humid.
00:47But it's here that we'll start on a fairly bright if not sunny note on Sunday morning.
00:51Blue skies and lots of sunshine for many parts of England and Wales.
00:55The clouds will tend to bubble up as we go through the morning and showers will certainly
00:58break out across Wales and Northern England.
01:01And after a fairly wet morning across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, by the afternoon
01:05a mixture of sunshine and heavy showers here.
01:08Some of those showers will be on the heavy side, as I say, with the chance of the odd rumble
01:12of thunder.
01:14And for all of us, it will be a more blustery day tomorrow.
01:17Those winds coming in from a westly direction, meaning it will start to feel a bit fresher than
01:21it did on Saturday, especially in the south, where we'll have lost some of that humidity.
01:26But nonetheless, temperatures still above average, highs of 22 or 23 in places, so feeling pleasantly
01:32warm in that sunshine, although quite a bit cooler out towards the north and the west.
01:36And the winds potentially touching gale force in some coastal regions.
01:41The showers will continue as we go into Sunday evening, most prevalent across the north and
01:46the west, and still a few heavy ones here and there.
01:49Starting to turn gradually dry, though, into the early hours of Monday morning, with skies
01:54clearing for many and temperatures falling perhaps into the high single figures in some
01:58rural areas.
01:59But most towns and cities in the south, at least, staying in double figures.
02:05Now for Monday, it's looking like a fine day if you have plans.
02:08A bit of cloud in the morning, but many places starting the day on a sunny note.
02:12And as we go through the day, some fair weather cloud bubbling up, just bringing one or two
02:16showers for central parts of the UK, more especially the east.
02:19But many places staying dry with long periods of sunshine and feeling pleasantly warm with high
02:25levels of UV, 21 to 22 degrees in some places.
02:29So still a little bit above average in the south.
02:32But certainly quite a big change later in the day across the north-west.
02:35The winds starting to strengthen quite rapidly across Northern Ireland and Western Scotland.
02:40And that's a sign of things to come as we go into Monday evening.
02:45This area of low pressure then is expected to deepen and bring this band of heavy rain eastwards
02:49on Monday night and into Tuesday.
02:51And as well as that, some quite unusually strong winds for the time of year.
02:54So winds gusting over 60 miles per hour for some northern and western coasts as we go into
03:00Tuesday morning.
03:01So do keep in touch with the forecast if you do have plans for Monday night and Tuesday.
03:06Or if you're off camping, for example, there could be some pretty unsettled weather on the
03:09way.
