Blustery winds and longer spells of rain are pushing eastwards across Northern Ireland and Scotland, possibly thundery. Elsewhere generally fine and some odd isolated showers. Feeling warm in the sunshine particularly in the east and murky around the English Channel coast where it feels cooler. This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the afternoon of 31/05/2025. 00:00Hello, it's the last day of meteorological spring today, but it'll actually feel more
00:05like midsummer for some southern and eastern areas. A very different story out towards
00:09the northwest though. Got this area of low pressure dominating and that's going to bring
00:13much cooler, fresher and more showery weather in from the west. Weather fronts pushing in
00:17from the west as we go into Sunday as well. So further showers are longer spells of rain
00:21across the north of the UK and feeling much fresher for all of us by tomorrow. Out there
00:27this afternoon though, and it's fairly warm in that sunshine, particularly across more
00:30eastern and southeastern parts of the UK with temperatures in the mid-20s here. Quite murky
00:36and misty though along some English Channel coasts, so here quite cool in that low cloud.
00:41Generally fairly fine across northern parts of England, Wales and the southwest with just
00:45the odd isolated shower, but quite blustery winds and showers or longer spells of rain
00:50pushing eastwards across Northern Ireland and Scotland. Perhaps the odd rumble of thunder
00:54mixed in there as well. Some really quite intense downpours for some of us and those blustery
00:58winds will make it feel quite a bit cooler. So temperatures, well maybe 19 or 20 for a
01:03time early afternoon, but dropping down into the mid-teen Celsius as we go towards the late
01:08afternoon. Down towards the southeast though, highs of 26 or 27 degrees, so feeling very warm
01:14indeed in that sunshine and with very high levels of grass pollen in the southeast as well.
01:20Through this evening we see this cold front bringing this showery band of rain further
01:24eastwards across England and Wales. Further showers for Scotland and Northern Ireland
01:27as well. A brief lull in the winds across the north, but winds starting to pick up once
01:32again as we go through the night. Further showers, the longer spells of rain returning to Northern
01:36Ireland and Western Scotland. Otherwise, many parts of England and Wales and Eastern Scotland
01:41escaping with a largely dry night. Lengthy clear spells, and if you weren't a fan of the
01:45humidity over the last few nights, well it's good news because it generally will be quite
01:49a bit fresher out there tonight. Temperatures falling perhaps into low single figures across
01:53northern parts of Scotland, but generally it will just be the far southeast of England that holds
01:57on to something a little bit warmer. So for Sunday, generally a fine start for many parts of
02:02England and Wales. A mixture of clouds and sunny spells. Overall though, it will be a breezier day
02:07tomorrow and generally a bit cloudier too. So the cloud bubbling up through the morning, further
02:12showers and longer spells of rain pushing eastwards across Northern Ireland and Scotland. Again,
02:17the odd rumble of thunder here and there. Showers breaking out quite widely across Northern England,
02:22Wales, the Midlands and the southwest as well. But some places will stay dry, particularly across
02:27the southeast of England, holding on to some warmth here and generally a fine afternoon for some eastern
02:32and southern parts of Scotland. It will be a fresher day though, wherever you are. Still feeling
02:37pleasantly warm in the sunshine in the southeast with highs 22 or 23 degrees here, but generally quite a
02:43blustery wind. So feeling quite a bit cooler for many compared to on Saturday. Now as we go into
02:50Monday, it's looking fairly fine for most of us. A bit of a respite from the showers, some sunny spells
02:55and pleasantly warm, but it will turn wet and windy in the northwest later in the day. Of course, if you
03:01want to follow us on our social media channels, you'll never miss any updates. But that's everything
03:06from me. I'll see you again soon.
