Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander says the government can and will deal with the out-of-control crime situation in the country.

However he says, like other Ministers, he is just three weeks on the job and still settling in, getting to know what his responsibilities are and who he has to work with to get things done.

Speaking to our reporter Cindy Raghubar-Teekersingh following the tour of the Princes Town Fire Station on Monday, Minister Alexander also commented on a message sent to him, by a man who approached a relative of Finance Minister Dave Tancoo over the weekend.

00:38I don't view it as a threat from my experience, and I speak from experience on many occasions.
00:43I thought someone came and had concerns just like any other citizen, and he expressed his concern.
00:49He says he understands that citizens are worried about the state of crime, but said the government is ready and willing to give crime-fighting agencies whatever is needed.
01:10Right now as I speak, the Chantebego Police Service and its executive team, they are rolling out the anti-crime strategy and operational plan, strategic and operational plan.
01:24So what we do, we want to give them all the resources necessary to achieve the many goals that they have in those plans.
01:30Minister Alexander says with only three weeks on the job, he and other ministers are still acquainting themselves with what their responsibilities are and exactly who they have to work with to get specific tasks done.
01:50But he says, once settled in, the country will start to see results.
01:55We are ready, you know. I just need for the police officers, together with members of the Defence Force, with my colleague Mr. Sturge, and other arms or apparatus of the National Security, to come together.
02:10And we will treat this situation, and we will treat this situation, called crime-in-law.
