03:28if she failed to comply with his order bloody Camilla well she's got herself in big trouble
03:32this time Bobby calls her listens to a show nearly every morning be worthwhile if we kept
03:43an ear out for tomorrow yeah I bet she has plenty to say to always does I was watching
03:57that I've got to talk to you why maybe it's time for a change let bygones be bygones start again

06:03please don't die Oh Maureen McGuire that new woman wants to see you oh tell her she'll have
06:18to wait until tomorrow oh is something wrong just the continuing saga now Patrick is talking
06:26about moving away it looks like he might get that job in Aubrey and God knows we could do
06:31with the money probably come down for weekends or what oh nothing has been decided yet he doesn't
06:37want to go either and the kids don't want to have to change school and make new friends what do you
06:42want of course I don't want to go but the only way we can keep the house here is if I keep the
06:49job as governor I think you're fairly safe and say she's not coming back yes I know that but I
06:54would be happier if she made the resignation official besides we don't really know what
07:00plans the new department head has well we can make an educated guess the appointments been made
07:06it's Erica Davidson really Erica that's a step in the right direction at least she understands
07:14the problems we face here yeah what does that mean oh nothing it's just that she's got this
07:22fixation that she's the only person that really understands Wentworth the doubt of anybody does
07:28yeah
07:33what's happened mr. Manning Park is assaulted keen goodness she admits doing it and it's quite
07:39serious is keen badly hurt she's with sister Kelly sure Kevin what have you got to say for yourself
07:47well I didn't mean to hit it that hard then why did you attack her come on you must have had a
07:57reason why oh well leave me no choice take it a solitary
08:12there's nothing else you could do we can't chance any of the other women getting hurt
08:17if she goes off again if only she could control that violent temper I don't know I think we're
08:23gonna have to find an alternative for Parker you sure you'd be alright mr. D you can count on it
08:33I want to thank you again for your help Street fighting do much saving my life may not be much
08:41to you but means a lot to me now we'll keep all this to ourselves when we what's happening what
08:49do you mean nothing I just saw mr. Manning they're dragging Cass off to the pound Oh
08:54straight he must have sprung her with red I'll look you'll fix it why don't you you tell the
08:58gun what really happened yes of course I think you'd better tell me what's been going on don't
09:10you
09:40and he sure knows how to bite looks like Sonia's getting nervous cuz she's freaked out every night
10:10just had a call from Myra Desmond oh good well it's not really Wally asked if she'd give a hand
10:17at Driscoll she's just said she was sorry she didn't want to get involved Dan I was relying
10:22on her and she didn't sound to use yourself on the phone either quite emotional maybe something's
10:26wrong with it look do you mind if I give her a ring come on
10:40okay I just came to tell you there's nothing to worry about I'm going to tell the governor
10:47what really happened oh jeez mr. Dobson you can't do that don't find out about your ticker
10:53I can't leave you in here for something that wasn't your fault I don't make no difference
10:57I ain't got nothing else to do now don't you tell him nothing I have to but thanks Cass
11:06well what did the department have to say haven't got anyone to take it on yet they reckon they've
11:22tried absolutely everybody I've told you Myra look for God's sake give me a break I mean if
11:31it wasn't for you and the PRG there wouldn't be a Driscoll house oh Jude I'd help if I could now
11:39you know that I know look Myra it's not just that is it I mean you've got problems what's going on
11:46it's personal Judah I don't want to talk about it okay I understand I just want you to know we've
11:56been thinking about you thanks love oh hell I can't let an old mate down look I'm not gonna
12:03promise anything Jude but I'll make down to Driscoll house and see what the situation is
12:08okay that's great thanks very much your blood's worth bottling mate okay I'll let you know how
12:16it goes okay thanks again Myra isn't the time you learn to say no I tried you realize I will
12:30have to make a report for the department well that's understood mrs. Bell I'm sorry am I
12:35interrupting no come in miss Ferguson we finished Stanley thank you for telling me the truth you
12:41might like to go and let Parker out of solitary now yes yes miss Ferguson it's Stevens governor
12:52I'm a little concerned about her attitude her attitude to what me she seems to think that I
12:59mean to harm her in some way I wonder what gave her that idea I admit that my attitude in the
13:05past could have something to do with it yes I'd say it's on the cards I would be a lot happier if
13:10she weren't given the chance to lay any unfounded charges it's Ferguson what exactly do you want
13:15from me just your approval governor to avoid being alone with her when I'm on duty I don't see that
13:21my approval will make any difference all right you have it thank you governor now that's two
13:29of you going to affect the new roster oh yes Stanley Dobson he has a fairly serious heart
13:35condition I'm gonna have to keep him away from possible trouble spots and the department didn't
13:41warn us well the department didn't know no doubt when they do they'll just shuffle him off to
13:47somewhere nice and easy poor old bugger nice way to end your career isn't it it's round on the scrap
13:56heap and where might you be going with you I'll be all right love besides I want you to be here
14:19when Kay gets home well she won't be home to light mum she never is yeah no so I'm coming with you
14:25right okay if that's what you want lucky for you I'm gonna shift change eh you could probably use
14:30some muscle over there yes god knows what state that place will be in no worse than the one you're
14:34in I'll bet enough of your cheek young man come on mum I'm watching you fall apart what do you
14:42want me to do give up my work of course not you wouldn't know what to do with yourself we'll be
14:49right yep so let's go and nail this turkey eh oh gee thanks mr. Thompson I you didn't have to do
15:05it but I would have been all right oh the truth had to come out sometime well you reckon they're
15:11gonna do you now just have to wait and see I'll have to tell my wife that's for sure before she
15:16funds it from the department you let me for breakfast before she bit of a dragon sometimes
15:20she tries to be but it doesn't work it is one of the gentlest people in the world we've been
15:25together 34 years now and I can't remember a harsh word geez that's real nice mr. so how come you
15:34never told her about your ticket I don't like it I worry yeah she will now but yeah she'll start
15:41spoiling me right now that'll be good she's I'm gonna miss you mr. Thompson wait a minute I haven't
15:46gone yet tell you what before I go how about we get stuck into that garden yeah that God needs
15:52get stuck into just like we've got time well you reckon they'll send you to finish up I don't know
16:00some desk job doesn't matter much it's just a mild concussion the doctor thinks you should stay
16:09here overnight though so we can keep an eye on I suppose you're not too groggy to see where all
16:16of this has got you you'll be charged over the assault on officer Dobson stupid old bugger
16:21didn't drop dead you'll also be going before the visiting justice I hope he sees what a
16:27vicious callous brat you are I think justice can get stuffed and so can you mr. Manning as soon
16:39as keen as well enough see she goes to solitary no bloody way I cooked tea last night bugger you
16:51did it's your turn tonight well you can cook it yourself I'm going out for a hamburger just as
16:55well you can't boil water without burning anyway I'm a bloody side better cook than you are what
17:00do you want I mean Hoover shut up like no one's going out for a hamburger no one's gonna wait
17:08here until this pigsty has been cleaned up anything you're pushing around sister you now
17:15my name's Myra Desmond and anyone who doesn't do what I tell him to do can get themselves out the
17:20front door now are you taking over driscoll looks like I might have to hey yeah who's the kid does
17:33he come in the package do you good old driscoll doesn't change
17:50still my music pixie we should run a sweep on how many days you stays on the loose that's a
17:56good idea why don't you set it up yeah I reckon if she was coming back at all she'd be back by
18:01well I'll bet you if a cop finds her he ends up marrying her rather than turning her in hey why
18:08don't you run a sweep on how long bucket mouth stays in here before someone pays her fine I don't
18:13think she'd take jail instead of paying a fine yeah she's just a sort of smart-ass big Eddie
18:17reckon she was doing us a favor coming in here how do you know she's a big Eddie if you've never
18:22met her because I listen to the Camilla Wells show nearly every day and I'm not missing it tomorrow
18:26that's for sure
18:38ready to trade with you mrs. Morris good miss Ferguson take Stephens to the hospital to pick
18:43up Keane's tray will you but would you mind saying to it please mrs. Morris the governor's
18:48agreed that I shouldn't be alone with Stephens right come on
18:51how's the patient now her head's pretty hard she'll survive
19:06had enough one of that muck when do you think you'll be back up on deck as if you care just
19:17need someone to cover you it's not just that don't con me I know you're on your own for a
19:22bit longer well I made it straight for the pound for me all right it's true I do need you for my
19:28back I only wish I could get out of here if I don't Ferguson's gonna get me for sure well I've
19:35got 50,000 good little reasons for getting out of here and I'm gonna do it but before I go I'm
19:43gonna get old Dobson and I'm gonna fix him good at this time I'm gonna really finish the job
19:51two urgent calls to phone the department ring my bank manager it's a lovely start to the day
20:08morning and what brings you out here so early same as you work I tried to contact you last
20:17night to let you know I've decided not to resign and as from now I'm officially on duty
20:22how does your doctor feel about that oh he approves 100% makes it a much better idea
20:30than sitting around at home worrying about Paul you'll still need treatment though won't you a
20:35physio that sort of thing of course but we can work that out and quite frankly as soon as I made
20:40the decision I felt like a new person things have been pretty rough around here lately haven't they
20:46we managed remarkably well too well let's get started shall we I imagine you'll be quite happy
20:53to hand over the more pressing problems well you might like to start with these department
20:59we'll want to speak to the governor like a dollar for every time I've washed the same
21:07lousy sheets in this dump yeah you'd be washing them a damn side often if you're married to some
21:11poor jerk on the basic wage with five kids to support on the smell of an oily rag well am I
21:16glad Pixie's not here a crack like that I'd break a romantic little heart I do you really think
21:21she'd be silly enough get married again you bet one smell of orange blossom and she's anybody
21:27if it's legal Oh Phyllis if you must turn that on would you make sure it's something decent I
21:33bet Bobby's got the kitchen radio on to that Camilla Wells talk back oh yes what you know
21:38we might get arrested on air switch it over and what about the millions of other people madam
21:55when they can get transport to get to their jobs ever stop to think just how many of them your
22:00husband and his mates are putting out of work you agree that if the nurses can't get a hearing when
22:07they want to rise and God knows they deserve it we closed down the hospitals right and that
22:13appendix of yours is just about to burst does just that and you offer the long long ride in the big
22:18black car that's different it's their duty to save lives no madam I've just about had you and
22:25your sort there are a lot of callers waiting on my line I've got something constructive to say so
22:29just do me a favor get off the line good your type I don't need now someone's got something worth
22:42saying I'll take another call but first here's a newsflash about yours truly just outside my
22:49studio or some boys in blue waiting to haul me off to jail for not paying those parking
22:53anyone got anything to contribute on that subject yeah it's a real drag not being able to pack the
22:59wrong set shut up okay someone coming through now oh it looks like we're gonna be getting a
23:04girl no let's turn that thing oh dear we'll see you now
23:17I wonder if she'll spill the beans if she does I can't back her up oh thank God you've kept the
23:23paperwork up to date plenty of it isn't it enjoy that side of the job Colleen I've thrown you by
23:32coming back so soon haven't I well I've been pretty heavily supervised by Erica Davidson over
23:39the last few weeks I was hoping to make a few decisions of my own I still had the job I think
23:46I understand look Colleen there's more than enough pressure for two people running this place I do
23:52need your support I think you should look at these first we've inherited a few problem cases while
23:58you're away welcome back thanks Meg Maureen McGuire has an appointment that's her part
24:05on top anything specific I should know she says she's innocent look if that is all I have a few
24:11calls to make don't forget your back manager do you want me to tell her to wait no show
24:16you this is mrs. Reynolds our governor good morning McGuire now what's the problem I shouldn't be in
24:27here it's a case of mistaken identity just because I was getting through a window place where I used
24:31to work so I'd have somewhere to stay the night look I'm no more a cat burglar than you are I see
24:36and what do you think I can do about it I want to make a phone call that can be arranged I send an
24:48officer into me would you please thank you was that all Minnie Donovan knows this lawyer and
24:54she says he'll fix things for me she gave me the number I hope she's right well if you are
24:59innocent I'm sure everything will be sorted out of course I'm bloody innocent do I look like a
25:03do McGuire welcome back mrs. Reynolds thank you mr. Dobson isn't it that's right McGuire would
25:12like to make a telephone call could you arrange it for her please there's any governor
25:15what do you know about McGuire make well most prisoners claim their innocence but I don't know
25:27cool to hunt you if you like I think it's true well if Minnie Donovan's decided to help her
25:32she's got a powerful friend on site make this is just between us but his calling upset that
25:40I've come back so soon none of us want you to overdo it straight after you're on that's not
25:45what I asked you make no she's having a bit of a bad time with that hit-and-run business and
25:50Patrick being retrenched what yes yes it's made things a bit tight financially well I suppose
25:56things will sort themselves out Colleen's a sensible person yes yes of course
26:16you seem very tense Stevens something troubling you look someone did turn those lights out in
26:22the library when John's tried to murder me it's not a lot of comfort oh hell you know how things
26:26are around this place yeah sure anyway mrs. Reynolds is back and she's been very helpful
26:32in getting me reinstated it's definitely it will be and there'll be no one around to put a spoke
26:36in the wheel no one who can't say this well there do you any kind of stuff meeting yeah just on my
26:41way mrs. Morris I'd like to make a phone call to my husband all right I'll organize it I want to
26:56say first of all that it's good to be back and that I'm very grateful to Colleen for the fine
27:01job she did while I was away and naturally having been back for five minutes the department stopped
27:07a king-sized problem in my lap we are about to receive a celebrity Camilla Wells is to be our
27:14guest for two weeks how are we to treat a governor same way we treat everyone else presumably and not
27:20quite she'll mix with the other women during normal recreation periods but she won't be put
27:24on the work roster in fact we're going to make her stay here as informal and relaxed as possible
27:29oh that'll have a terrific effect on the other women yes well mrs. Davidson a department have
27:34pointed out that miss Wells has her own newspaper column and her own radio program she has the
27:41opportunity to be very vocal about Wentworth when she gets out of here yes well it's only a minor
27:46offense seems common sense to treat her accordingly there shouldn't be two sets of rules it was her
27:52choice to ignore her fines and come to prison mind you I suppose it'll supply her with very
27:58good mileage the department wants to make sure that miss Wells gets a good impression of Wentworth
28:04in short she's to be treated as VIP and frankly I think the less contact she has with the other
28:10women the best for all of us personally I'm against the idea then it's your decision it's
28:16the department's decision and as governor I intend to carry out their instructions
28:22Wells and King yep we were expecting you miss Wells but so were the reporters at the gates
28:38apparently yes we got quite a welcome didn't we they better not put my phone in the paper if they
28:44know it's good for me are you sure do you know I think your jurisdiction ends once you've handed
28:51the prisoner over we'll take it from here thank you Constable you're welcome governor
28:56stand on the line King just a moment don't we do this together I'm not asking for special
29:05privileges the inductions being made in alphabetical order miss Wells your turn will
29:09come the name is Meryl Shirley King and you have been charged with possession of marijuana correct
29:16big deal just answer yes or no King and you've been sentenced to one week's imprisonment at
29:21Wentworth detention center correct and I was given two weeks for refusing to pay parking
29:27fines an amusing imbalance of justice perhaps we could discuss that later good yes I have a
29:35few comments to make on the mode of transport to this place too I'll see miss Wells in my
29:40office after induction miss Ferguson King stand up straight please what do you mean your name isn't
29:50making me he said she's gonna send me her lawyer yes I know but unfortunately nothing make a nose
29:55with a real cat burglaries do you well so how on the hell are you gonna help me miss McGuire I'm
30:06going to do everything possible to try and clear you but I need to know the facts now I've got a
30:14list here of the times and dates of the robberies I need to know from you exactly where you were
30:20and with whom at these times oh you're joking look I couldn't tell you where I was last week
30:29let alone way back then do you think I keep a diary T was the vicar 5 p.m. well you must know
30:35somebody friends you can give you an alibi for these times come they go you know see well you
30:45know anybody you can post the thousand dollar bail for you oh yeah there's a whole bunch of them
30:49just standing there waiting to fill in their checkbooks I'll talk sense can't you well have a
30:55look through my notes see what I can pick up hurry up I'm sick of this hole we're finished
31:02and innocent
31:11not very imaginative practical though and reasonably comfortable according to the women
31:24well if it's all right by them who am I to criticize so what's next you ought to be put
31:31in our isolation section you'll have access to the library you can have a typewriter if you want
31:36one and you're to be excluded from the normal work roster naturally you'll eat and spend your
31:42recreation periods with the other women I broke the law mrs. Reynolds I expect to be treated
31:48exactly the same as every other inmate you misunderstand me miss Wells they're not just
31:54considering your comfort we're considering the other inmates and the effect that you're being
31:57here could have on them they're not all fans you know survival's the name of the game in prison
32:03and even you could find yourself a little out of your depth possibly but it's only for two weeks
32:10mrs. Reynolds if you or the department try to mislead me about the normal conditions in here
32:17it'll be bad for Wentworth when I start broadcasting again
32:19ask miss Ferguson to step in please
32:32a lot miss Wells a single dormitory and a squatter there please
32:35certainly governor this way miss Wells
32:37she's going to be trouble oh I don't know about that seem to be making things pretty easy for
32:56a room all to myself I'm just following orders miss Wells I'm sure you're quite good at that
33:03well yes I've had the right background my father was a major in the army and I was acting governor
33:08here for a short time how come well mrs. Reynolds had to have surgery and that required her to take
33:14some leave the deputy had some personal problems so the department decided I should take over
33:19temporarily big responsibility oh yes I enjoy that and you do too obviously
33:26well I'm sure you'll find this quite helpful book of regulations sure I'll find it fascinating
33:32reading there's been quite a lot of problems in this place over the past few months
33:38oh yes that happens in every prison I'm sure things will run quite smoothly now that mrs.
33:43Reynolds is back in the chair you admire her oh yes she understands the balance between fair
33:50treatment and necessary discipline the women respect that so do the staff most of them I
33:56certainly do but you still wouldn't mind stepping into her shoes ambition is no crime in your line
34:04of work or in mine miss Wells and I'm sure you'll be able to find the recreation area and the toilet
34:11facilities no doubt the women will give you a favorable reception but if you do have any
34:16problems please let me know thank you miss Ferguson I think I'll be able to cope
34:22I think I'll be able to cope
34:44I didn't have you come Eddie you're still legally married aren't we
34:49I thought maybe you wanted to talk business
34:54is that all we've got left between us now that's a laugh coming from you
34:58Eddie I'm scared you maybe you could swallow me for breakfast and not even hiccup
35:05so
35:14there's a water Rick Manning used to be in the force yeah he's a mate well he's got it in for me
35:22and why not as I said he's a mate and an officer Joan Ferguson so this place has really got to you
35:29hasn't it you don't need to talk to me tell the governor you need to see the shrink
35:39I know it was hard on you Eddie but there were good times too
35:45surely you haven't forgotten what it was like in the beginning
35:49I'm working on it she pushed me into making deals with her when I first came in Joan
35:54Joan Ferguson now I know too much you got yourself into it baby you get yourself out
35:59Eddie
36:04please help me there's just one problem Sonia my last visit you said you only
36:13married me because you needed a cover well you're on your own kid
36:29I thought perhaps we could start our own glee club how's that it's a singing group
36:37as a matter of fact the history of glee clubs is very interesting it's just like the Beatles
36:42girls but with all class and no beat not exactly when is the glee coming when you start singing I
36:47bet well I think it's a very nice idea have we really practiced we should be able to enter a
36:53competition with her you know me uncle Mike had a fine tenor voice trouble was at a ruddy rough
36:58passage getting out I think we should give it a go oh I'm not sure you've met well we don't
37:05need an introduction Mr Dobson well you sure got a lot of fans around here for your radio show
37:12well we'll organize the glee club late hello
37:28making me feel like a bit of a goldfish oh sorry
37:31it's just that we're not used to having anyone famous around here you know
37:40look this is very uncomfortable
37:46if I'd known you were going to be like this I uh well I'd have paid the damn fines instead
37:51of telling the judge to go screw himself why do you give the people who ring in such a bad time
37:57yeah you don't pull your punches well I'd be pretty bloody boring if I did that's what
38:00keeps them listening Eddie you know Michael Parkinson yes Bobby'll be green-eyed we've
38:08met you first she always listens to you well he told me I'd be doing time with a bunch of
38:21murderers and pros but damned if I can tell which is which we're not sure ourselves
38:40I'll send you detective Stevens isn't it that's right I'd like a word with Rick Manning I'm
38:45sorry he's off duty at the moment I didn't think we'd see you back again senior after your last
38:50visit not really your problem is it miss Ferguson then I guess old protective habits die hard
38:57oh I think Stevens can look after herself does she need to
39:02the prisoner who attacked her has been transferred good
39:08I'm still officially a husband so I'll be keeping a finger on the pulse
39:11tell Rick that I was asking after him yes of course senior
39:21hey get the fruit hey must be a VIP amongst us what's it like generally
39:29much yeah I suppose the department of nervous you're going to print a few home truths when
39:32you get out of here not too subtle are they might as well enjoy it while they're laying
39:37couldn't get you seen if it's the end of it
39:40just on your Stevens I've seen you around the area I work sorry drunk person Merrill King I know
39:48your husband Eddie can we drop the subject Eddie and I don't have anything in common anymore
39:54just thought you'd be interested what Eddie's not the initial used to
39:58meaning on the tape like the rest of them
40:08Colleen the department's just approved your recommendation for Stanley Dobson I thought
40:15perhaps you might like to tell him the official word should come from the governor yes but I've
40:21hardly had any chance to get to know him yet and after all you were the one who talked to
40:25mrs. Davidson about it they've approved the PA system too of course there'll be a bit of
40:34inconvenience while they're installing it but we'll just have to live with that and is that
40:39something you want me to handle as well no I'll be circulating an official memo governor I believe
40:46you wanted to see me yes the department's accepted the withdrawal of your resignation
40:49come in and have a chat about it that is good news thank you governor bloody hell hey
40:57oh you have managed to fool her but not me oh that's a pity mrs. Pearl you are the deputy and
41:03I'd like to think that I had your support to save your play acting for mrs. Reynolds
41:09she's obviously more gullible than I am
41:10hey I've been thinking what now that we've got our VIP here we could really call the shots you
41:20know yeah we could have that the sky's the limit maybe we could get Mel Gibson stashed away myself
41:26for a couple of weeks serious look we could ask for longer telly time and more visitors and we'd
41:30be in like Sweden maybe you can get a few free extra fag right yeah no hold it you're not using
41:36me up so don't get any ideas about it well who was it that said eat the good taco while it's
41:40there that was their idea this is different this is a prison not a luxury motel and no way you're
41:46setting me up to turn it into a holiday camp oh you and all your big talk we only want to make
41:50this dump bear you're being fed and clothed and paid to work all at the state's expense
41:56now if you don't like it you shouldn't have broken the rules in the first place
41:58we don't need that kind of crap around here
42:06thank you
42:23you wanted to see me mrs pal yeah sit down steady thank you
42:29we've heard from the department oh where where are they sending me
42:34are you gonna stay on here that was our recommendation
42:38there will be changes in your duties you'll work mainly on the desk and when you're with
42:43the women you'll have to be with another officer i'm still quite capable of carrying out my routine
42:48duties stanley you've got a heart condition these restrictions are for your own good
42:55i made the one fatal mistake didn't i i got old
43:05thank you mrs pal i'm grateful to be able to finish my time at wentworth
43:12thanks stanley
43:17poor old thing but it would have been much worse if they'd moved him at this late stage
43:23yeah maybe so but why did i have to be the one to hand this sentence out to him i thought you
43:29did it very well i shouldn't have had to do it at all that's the governor's job but apparently
43:35that's the way it's going to be and gets a kudos and the salary and i do all the dirty work well
43:40she's got another thing coming what is this look either she is fit enough to do this job and that
43:46means all of it or she can find herself another whipping boy i'll have to end the bloody job
43:52and the sooner she knows about it the better
44:09i wish he could again
44:10but that was on the outside
44:19and things were different then on the inside the sun still shines
