00:00With the new 890 cubic centimeters motor and such a light, agile nature, the 2025 Ducati
00:08Streetfighter V2S is one of the most fun, engaging and friendly motorcycles to ride
00:15on the road that has even been designed by the Bologna firm.
00:18Essentially, they have widened the gap between their Streetfighter models, whereas before,
00:24both the V2 and V4 models were relatively close in terms of performance and their focus
00:29ethos, the new V2 is set about to road-biased and fun, and Ducati have achieved that goal
00:36with flying colors.
00:38Although it makes far less power than the previous, 955 cubic centimeters V2, the new 890 cubic
00:47centimeters unit, also used in the Panagale V2, is far more playful and engaging.
00:53From the very bottom of the rev range it fires into life and carries nearly all the through
00:59to the red line.
01:00Fun, exciting, and yet incredibly user-friendly too, with a soft clutch action and smooth response
01:07at slow speeds.
01:09At just 178 kilograms, albeit without fuel.
01:14The new V2 is devastatingly nimble and accurate to throw around, and is one of the sharpest
01:20sub-leader naked's money can buy when it comes to conquering the corners.
01:23The Brembo M50 calipers also do a wonderful job of completing the V2's sporty ability.
01:30Ducati have adopted or more road-focused ethos for the new Streetfighter V2, and it works a
01:36treat.
01:37Thanks to a whole host of changes, the 2025 model is a whopping 18 kilograms lighter than
01:43the previous generation, sharing much of its architecture with the newly updated Panagale
01:48V2.
01:49Utilizing the same monocoque frame and Olean's components as its fared brother, the Streetfighter
01:55V2S has a slightly altered rake, trail, and steering angle, alongside some softer spring
02:02rates and slightly different damping setups to be more compliant on the road.
02:07The result is a machine that is devastatingly sharp and accurate, yet not too poised and focused
02:12to be over poor surfaces and undulations.
02:15The sheer lack of weight makes the new V2 an absolute treat to throw about, with the
02:21agility of a supermoto that eats up corners and changes of direction with ease.
02:26It's agile, yet not unstable.
02:29The riding position has also been altered slightly with wider bars and a different shape tank,
02:35which fits perfectly for any frame under 6 foot.
02:38If you're much taller than that, it will be a little bit cramped.
02:41Although the Streetfighter V2 offers an incredibly engaging ride, it's not quite perfect.
02:48The seat, although shaped well, is incredibly firm, and after a full day of riding, it's
02:54brutal on your reed end.
02:55It's also worth noting that, even though the engine is quiet at motorway speeds, it is a
03:01little bit vibey through the pegs.
03:03You might be disappointed that Ducati have downsized their Streetfighter V2 in terms of
03:08capacity and performance, but don't fret, as the riding experience is actually far better
03:14for it at road speeds.
03:16At just 54.4 kilograms, 9.5 kilograms less than the previous model.
03:22It's impressively small and light too, although the V2 handles excellently.
03:28The Izzajem in the new model is just how the motor delivers its power.
03:31Whereas the previous generation 955 cubic centimeters engine was a bit sharp and serious, the new
03:40V2 feels like it's built for the road, thanks to a crisp throttle and a friendly but feisty
03:45shove of torque.
03:47From 3,000 RPM, it pulls like a train as 80% of torque is available all the way from 4,000
03:53RPM, 11,000 RPM.
03:56Yet it does so with a sense of urgency and spice that the previous V2S have always just
04:02slightly missed out on.
04:03Now, it feels like a proper spicy, sub-liter naked.
04:07Sure, it's on acceleration and firing from corner to corner where the V2 feels most at
04:13home.
04:13It's also able to perform on the motorway too, sitting at just over 5,000 RPM at 70 miles per
04:20hour.
04:20That over-square motor has already impressed in the slightly altered Multistrada V2 and
04:26worked wonders in the sporty Panigale V2, but it works just as well, if not better in
04:32the naked guise of the Street Fighter.
04:34Although the V2 platform is new for 2025, there's nothing to suggest that there are any major
04:40issues in terms of reliability.
04:43The same goes for the componentry, which is tried and tested from the likes of Brembo,
04:47Olien's, and Bosch.
04:49The new Street Fighter is entirely different to the previous model, but you can still get
04:54an idea of how modern Ducati ownership is by looking at the owner's reviews for the 2022
04:59to 2024 Street Fighter V2.
05:03Although the Street Fighter V2S is as good-looking as it is impressive, one thing that it isn't
05:08is cheap, especially when pitched against its sub-liter naked rivals.
05:12Where the V2S will set you back 15,990 pounds, Yamaha's MT-09SP is 11,810 pounds, KTM's 990 Duke
05:25is 10,999 pounds, Kawasaki's Z900 Performance is 10,199 pounds, and Triumph Street Triple 765 RS
05:37is 11,995 pounds.
05:41However, the base model Street Fighter V2, which comes with a standard battery, no launch control
05:47or pit limiter, Marzocchi forks, and a Kayaba shock, is 13,990 pounds.
05:55The Street Fighter V2S is stacked with technology and equipment.
05:59A 6-axis IMU powers Ducati's mighty traction control, ABS, and wheelie control systems,
06:06which are some of the best and least intrusive in the business, while the S model also comes
06:11with a pit limiter and launch control as standard.
06:14There are four rider modes and a new 5-inch TFT dash and switchgear setup, which is not only
06:21on the easy on the eyes in all conditions, but is also incredibly easy to navigate and play
06:26with, even on the fly, although its rider aids are incredible.
06:30The quickshifter has been set for a softer road riding style, and because of that it's
06:34not as sharp on fast up and down shifts too, while it also loses the ability to shift down
06:40while on the throttle, which is handy for dropping a cog for an overtake.
06:45The launch control isn't particularly scintillating to use, while the one gripe with those new, easy
06:51to use switchgears comes in the form of the cruise control button, which is located to
06:56high up to adjust without moving your hand quite a distance, and that's after you've
07:01had to pay an additional cost for the software to run it, along with the heated grips.
