00:00The PDP political leader tells the Morning Edition there should be a separation of Trinidad and Tobago by definition.
00:08He says this doesn't mean literal separation, but that Tobago must be seen as equal to Trinidad.
00:16We're not talking autonomy. Autonomy is a choice. You have to choose that.
00:21But self-determination is a fundamental, inalienable right.
00:27It's a cardinal principle rooted in international law, that every people's, right, would have the right to choose among themselves, by themselves, without any external influence, their political status.
00:44He adds, there may be at least eight gas lines in Tobago, some of which are untapped.
00:51All of our gas fines are sent to Trinidad point leases by a 40-inch pipeline, and we have no problem with that.
00:58The problem is how do we establish a fair revenue-sharing agreement between Trinidad and Tobago so as to ensure that we profit from the extraction of those rare properties.
01:13Regarding the two members of the Farley-Augustin-led Tobago People's Party to be sworn into Parliament, Duke tells us he remains cautiously optimistic.
01:22It's not a hate match or a grudge match. I wish them the best. I just think that they must have been the best to go forward.
01:28But now that they're there, we have to work with them.
01:32Additionally, he says, once they enter the House of Representatives, Tobago expects them to seek the interest of Tobago holistically and not just the TPP.
