00:00:00When Boy Meets World ended, the internet didn't exist the way it does now.
00:00:04We never knew what the show meant to people.
00:00:07For seven years, audiences were tuned in to the antics of Corey Cornelius Matthews.
00:00:13That's Matthews spelled with two T's.
00:00:16Two T's in Matthews, stupid, stupid.
00:00:20Boy Meets World was to air on the famous ABC-TGIF block on September of 1993.
00:00:26Corey would grow up in the same time zone that had featured Full House, Mr. Belvedere,
00:00:31Family Matters, Perfect Strangers, and Dinosaurs, the latter show being created by Michael Jacobs.
00:00:56Michael was born June 28, 1955, in Highland Park, New Jersey.
00:01:00By 1997, a young Michael was already premiering his own plays.
00:01:04In 1982, Jacobs had his first show on ABC, No Soap Radio, a sketch comedy starring Steve
00:01:13Guttenberg.
00:01:18Jacobs' follow-up attempt, Charles in Charge, proved to be much more successful.
00:01:23Scott Baio starred as Charles, a college student who becomes a nanny to young children
00:01:27in exchange for having a place to live.
00:01:29Scott Baio was writing off his previous successful role of Chachi on Happy Days.
00:01:34The show was a hit in syndication, lasting five seasons and 126 episodes.
00:01:38In 1986, Together We Stand became his next show to hit the air.
00:01:42The show was about a married couple, David and Lori Randall, and their adopted children.
00:01:47According to producer Sherwood Schwartz, the plot for the show was originally written as
00:01:51a spin-off from the Brady Bunch called Kelly's Kids.
00:01:54It only lasted 19 episodes.
00:01:56In 1987, My Two Dads premiered on NBC.
00:01:59The show would win the most promising new fall television series Young Artist Award
00:02:03of 1987 and a 1988 People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy.
00:02:09Michael Taylor was a successful financial advisor, and Greg Evigan played Joey Harris,
00:02:13a struggling artist.
00:02:14The two were awarded joint custody of 12-year-old Nicole.
00:02:17Nicole's mother, Marcy Bradford, died, and the two men who were once friends, and had
00:02:22both dated Nicole's mother, were left to raise her.
00:02:25In 1990, Singer and Sons, a comedy series about a Jewish widower who hires his housekeeper's
00:02:31sons to manage the family-owned deli, debuted.
00:02:34The way the feuding black brothers come to be fixtures in helping run a Jewish deli is
00:02:38pretty predictable.
00:02:391991 would debut The Torkelsons, a show created by Lynn Montgomery but was developed by Michael
00:02:45Jacobs.
00:02:46After her husband, Randy, leaves the family, Melissa Torkelson is left to support the family.
00:02:51After ending its first season on June 16, 1992, the series was retooled and renamed
00:02:56Almost Home.
00:02:57When her home is foreclosed on, Melissa becomes a nanny, and the family is moved to Seattle.
00:03:02Early Boy Meets World traces can be seen with Lee Norris playing 8-year-old bug collector
00:03:07Chucky Lee.
00:03:08Future Boy Meets World semi-regulars Brittany Murphy and Jason Marsden would play Molly
00:03:12and Gregory Morgan in the second season of the show.
00:03:15The show's run was over on June 6, 1993.
00:03:181991 would also debut The Dinosaurs, the first show of Michael's to be part of the TGIF lineup.
00:03:24The show centered on the Sinclair family, Earl Sinclair, Fran Sinclair, and their three
00:03:29children Robbie, Charlene, and breakout star Baby Sinclair.
00:03:34The show utilized voice actors for the characters, which were performed by different actors and
00:03:39puppeteers.
00:03:40The show spawned merchandise and its own rap video featuring Baby Sinclair.
00:03:45Where I Live was the second attempt of a show for TGIF.
00:03:48This mid-season replacement show starred Dougie Doug as Douglas St. Martin, a Trinidadian
00:03:54American teenager living in the Harlem section of New York City.
00:03:57The show, featuring Douglas, Reggie, and Malcolm, was based on Dougie Doug's own childhood.
00:04:03The series drew critical acclaim, but the ratings were very low, putting it on the brink
00:04:07of cancellation.
00:04:081993 would not be a failure.
00:04:11They had another show set to air that fall.
00:04:13That show was named The Untitled Ben Savage Project, later to be renamed Boy Meets World.
00:04:23I was just wrapping up Dinosaurs.
00:04:25I went to the president of Disney Television and said, in all these shows that are being
00:04:28done, Family Ties, Growing Pains, you have your Michael J. Fox, your Kirk Cameron, Big
00:04:33Brothers, but what about the kids in the middle?
00:04:35The younger kids?
00:04:37They have lives.
00:04:38All I wanted to do was write a show that never spoke down to kids, because I thought that
00:04:42was primarily what was happening in the world of teenage television.
00:04:45Let's speak up to them.
00:04:46They understand far more.
00:04:48ABC needed another family-oriented hit, and what better heir to Fred than his kid brother
00:04:53Ben?
00:04:54Well, I kind of play like a Cupid role, like I'm always around.
00:04:58It's like this is a Valentine's Day show, isn't it?
00:05:02Yeah, yeah.
00:05:03Kevin tells me to put a Valentine card in Winnie's locker, but I put it in the wrong
00:05:10one.
00:05:11I put it in Nancy Slater's locker, and she thinks Kevin likes him again, so everything
00:05:15turns out to be a mess.
00:05:16So you have made a triangle out of these three people, huh?
00:05:18Yeah.
00:05:19You ought to be ashamed.
00:05:20I know.
00:05:21I make everything a mess.
00:05:22There was something about the Savages.
00:05:24They were both just ridiculously cute, belonged on every diaper commercial.
00:05:28How old are you?
00:05:29I'm nine.
00:05:30You're nine years old.
00:05:31Yeah.
00:05:32You like acting too, huh?
00:05:33I love it.
00:05:34Both had the perfect combination of intelligence and humor.
00:05:37Both were willing to be vulnerable in a way that child actors weren't.
00:05:40You feel the world pouring into them, and they're reacting to it very honestly.
00:05:45Boy Meets World was a sitcom that was formed in 93, and it was a coming-of-age story about
00:05:51a young character, Cory Matthews.
00:05:53You.
00:05:54That was me.
00:05:55And it was him exploring the world, and it was basically him taking on the world, and
00:06:00we were seeing it from the eyes of a young 13-year-old boy.
00:06:03Then, the wildest things happen when the kids are left home alone.
00:06:07Just one 680 bucks.
00:06:09Lady Brown!
00:06:10All-new Boy Meets World on TGIF Friday.
00:06:13This show still needed someone for Cory to oppose.
00:06:17What if there is a figure who is absolutely unable to be moved?
00:06:22If it's a workplace comedy, workplace is school, the boss is the teacher.
00:06:27And what if the teacher lived next door?
00:06:30From 1988 to 1993, Ben watched his brother, Fred, star on The Wonder Years.
00:06:36My brother got The Wonder Years, so my family moved from Chicago to Los Angeles.
00:06:40Ben even played the role of Cupid in the 1990 episode, The St. Valentine's Day Massacre.
00:06:45I remember being a kid, and every day after school, I would get dropped off and hang out
00:06:50on The Wonder Years set.
00:06:51If they were ever filming late, I would go sleep in his trailer, because Mom didn't
00:06:55want me to be alone.
00:06:56A 12-year-old Ben went into the show, setting his sights low.
00:06:59I prepared myself.
00:07:01Oh, you're not going to do this show for the next seven years.
00:07:04Will Fridell had been living in Connecticut when he got his call to audition.
00:07:08Will's family allowed him to audition only once a week, as not to interrupt his normal
00:07:12life.
00:07:13On the day of original casting, Will got sick and wasn't able to come in.
00:07:17Harry Barandes was cast, but later dropped for being the same height as Ben Savage.
00:07:22Will was able to re-audition at the Shubert Theater with the role of Eric Matthews coming
00:07:27down between himself, Jason Marsden, and Shiloh Hunter.
00:07:31But they eventually cast a part to Will Fridell, a relative unknown but most famous for hosting
00:07:36Don't Just Sit There on Nickelodeon in the late 80s.
00:07:39That's interesting.
00:07:40This was my dream from the time I was a little kid.
00:07:45Everyone always asked me, what do you want to be?
00:07:46Never wanted to be a movie star.
00:07:48No desire whatsoever.
00:07:49I wanted to be Michael J. Fox, and not in Back to the Future, but Michael J. Fox on
00:07:54Family Ties.
00:07:55That's all I wanted to be.
00:07:56Morgan Matthews was to be played by Lily Nixay.
00:07:59The character was originally a generic cute little sister.
00:08:02She was often used as a means for Eric to attract girls.
00:08:05I'm Morgan, and this is my brother Eric.
00:08:08He's very shy.
00:08:10She would later develop a more sarcastic personality.
00:08:12Hi, I'm Cory, and for the next three years, I'm going to look like a potato.
00:08:18Ryder Strong would be cast as Sean Patrick Hunter.
00:08:21Ryder was the first actor to show up in casting.
00:08:26The original idea of the show was that Cory would have many friends.
00:08:29I had actually only gotten the part on Boy Meets World because Shiloh had worked with
00:08:33Michael Jacobs before.
00:08:34Ryder auditioned, and I turned to the casting director and said, okay, that's fine.
00:08:35And she said, what do you mean?
00:08:36I have 40 people out here.
00:08:37We've got a hundred.
00:08:38I said, no, that's fine.
00:08:39That's my guy.
00:08:47The mother, Amy Matthews, was to be played by Betsy Randall.
00:08:50Betsy at the time was playing the role of Jill's best friend Karen Kelly on the mega
00:08:54hit Home Improvement.
00:08:55The role of the mother was actually much more her than I thought at the time.
00:08:59I realize that now, as people stop and thank me for being this good mom.
00:09:03Betsy Randall and William Russ approached their roles as if they were parenting their
00:09:07own kids.
00:09:08For the role of Alan Matthews, Jacobs originally approached longtime actor William Russ about
00:09:13the role.
00:09:19This opening would allow Matt McCoy to get casted.
00:09:26He was replaced by original choice William Russ.
00:09:32One actor to audition for the role was future cast member Anthony Tyler Quinn, who was thought
00:09:38to be too young for the role.
00:09:39Alan's character was written to have a Navy background.
00:09:50For the role of Topanga Lawrence, the choice was between Danielle Fischel and Marla Sokoloff.
00:09:56Marla would later play Stephanie's friend Gia on Full House.
00:10:04Despite her being incredibly sweet, Marla was unable to improvise her performance when
00:10:08changes were made to the script.
00:10:10This led to Marla being replaced.
00:10:12With Marla still on set, a nervous Fischel had her first table read go poorly, and was
00:10:16given extensive notes on what was to change if she was to keep the role of Topanga.
00:10:20Topanga was written as a flower child, and Danielle was peppy and preppy.
00:10:35She went back the next day.
00:10:37When the run-through ended, Michael started the notes session off with me again.
00:10:40My heart stopped beating regularly, and my palms got sweaty.
00:10:44Danielle, yesterday I gave you an enormous amount of notes, and I did that because I
00:10:48believed that you were capable of handling them.
00:10:51However, with your performance today, you exceeded my expectations.
00:10:55Lee Norris was cast as Stuart Lemke.
00:10:57The brainiac Stuart was the rival of Corrie and Sean, and desired the affection of Mr.
00:11:02Topanga.
00:11:03Stuart Minkus would only be featured in season one.
00:11:05Long-time actor William Daniels, perhaps most famous for playing President John Adams
00:11:10in 1776, rounded out the cast as George Hamilton Feeney, or as more often said, Mr. Feeney.
00:11:16His other famous role of Kip was more recognizable to the young cast.
00:11:39Feeney first appears on the show as their 6th grade school teacher, and next door neighbor
00:11:44to the Matthews family.
00:11:46He'd later become their principal, and to comedic effect, followed them from grade to
00:11:50grade.
00:11:54The kids on the set thought William Daniels was British, because he came across as very
00:11:58proper.
00:12:08There wasn't a whole lot of socializing on set, but we revered the character and the
00:12:12man.
00:12:13When we came on set, we'd talk, we'd listen, and we'd absorb.
00:12:17And then he would vanish, like some sort of magical person that just pops into your life.
00:12:22They came looking for me.
00:12:23I read the first script.
00:12:25I don't want to do this.
00:12:26I don't want to play Mr. Belvedere or make fun of teachers, because I think they're underpaid
00:12:30and need more respect.
00:12:32Luckily for Jacobs, he was able to convince Daniels of the importance of the character,
00:12:36who was based on his own mentor or high school teacher.
00:12:38In a 24-hour turnaround, the script was rewritten and sent back to Daniels.
00:12:43And overnight, he sent another script.
00:12:44And it's totally different.
00:12:46Totally believable.
00:12:47And totally doable.
00:12:48And so I said, okay.
00:13:05Season 1 debuted to 16.5 million people on September 24, 1993.
00:13:11The show would have storylines like Corey wanting to become a baseball player, and dealing
00:13:15with things like school, family, and puberty.
00:13:18While you got me, I'm an idiot.
00:13:21Some of my greatest memories are from the first year, when the kids were little, and
00:13:24it was all new and fresh.
00:13:25Maybe it was even the episode where we chased each other with water guns.
00:13:29Jason Marsden finally made his way on the show as Eric's best friend, Jason.
00:13:33One of my favorite moments was obviously the first moment I had during the show, when I
00:13:38slammed Ben up against the lockers and gave him his first kiss.
00:13:43That was exciting.
00:13:44I was 12, and Ben was 13 at the time.
00:13:46There was never any question that there would be a love story in the show.
00:13:50But we thought that the most interesting thing to do would be to start out understanding
00:13:58the boy.
00:13:59Topanga's character originally had a sister, Nebula, Stop the War, Lawrence.
00:14:04Hi, I'm Topanga's sister.
00:14:06I hear you thought Sean Hunter was the only one with mysteries in their family tree.
00:14:10I'll ask my sister what she uses to straighten her hair.
00:14:13One of those mysterious relatives for Sean Hunter was a sister named Stacy.
00:14:17What had actually happened was one of the other kids who was to sit with Cory and Sean
00:14:23was fired during the episode, so all his dialogue was given to Rider Strong.
00:14:29From that point forward, the crew felt the chemistry of Cory and Sean was making the
00:14:33show click and stopped bothering finding other friends.
00:14:36Am I not your best friend?
00:14:38I think the original concept was that there was always going to be two best friends, two
00:14:42guy best friends for Cory.
00:14:43I'll hook up with Mr. Sullivan.
00:14:45No, no, that's worse.
00:14:46We used to have a chair that we called the death chair in the cafeteria because whoever
00:14:51sat in it wouldn't be back the next week.
00:14:53The fifth episode, which was the first episode that they introduced Topanga, was probably
00:14:57the best episode because that was when everything clicked, where I actually had a real role.
00:15:02Entertainment Weekly gave the show a C-, stating the dialogue as trite
00:15:07Hey, I'm average.
00:15:09and having issues with Ben Savage's delivery.
00:15:12Are you aware that I'm only 11 years old?
00:15:14They also believed William Daniels and William Russ were being wasted in the pilot.
00:15:18People Magazine gave it a C+, stating Cory Matthews had overwritten dialogue.
00:15:22You know, you're not doing your body any favors loading up on junk like that.
00:15:26Oh, thanks, Mr. Feeney, and please enjoy that high vitamin astronaut drink you're sucking down.
00:15:31People Magazine noted Mr. Feeney as a show highlight.
00:15:34You shrewd little observer of the human condition.
00:15:37I remember the first review I ever got.
00:15:39I was 16, and it was the first review I ever got on anything because, you know, Nickelodeon,
00:15:42they don't review you and stuff like that.
00:15:44And the first one I got was the older brother, Will Friedle, misspelled, is at best a cardboard
00:15:50cutout prop.
00:15:51Bye, sorry everybody hates you.
00:15:54During season two, we were introduced to Chet Hunter, an on-again, off-again father figure.
00:15:59I'm late.
00:16:00Well, actually, I was out in the hall having a smoke.
00:16:03Don't endorse it.
00:16:04Don't deny it.
00:16:07Damn it.
00:16:08Chet was played by Blake Clark.
00:16:10We were also treated to the start of the running gag of the Hunter family trade.
00:16:14Let's call my Uncle Frank.
00:16:15He knows horses.
00:16:16Uncle Mike's motorcycle repair shop.
00:16:19You're Uncle Mike.
00:16:20Well, except for Grandpa Lewis.
00:16:24Last week, he got picked up.
00:16:26I've had three mothers.
00:16:28Yes, Verna, Ming Hua, and Elaine.
00:16:31I think we can rule Ming Hua out.
00:16:33My Uncle Ralph, he does not care, because twice a month, he gets welfare.
00:16:38My Uncle Chuck has nylon hair.
00:16:40He bought the rug with his welfare.
00:16:42On one blind date, I got fixed up with my Uncle Mary.
00:16:44Well, I went down to my Uncle Lewis' butcher shop.
00:16:47What happens when he's 500 pounds sitting on a couch, not moving?
00:16:50Hey, I never stopped loving Aunt Gloria.
00:16:53To my alleged son, Chet, happy birthday.
00:16:57These loving words are in no way an admission of guilt in The Childhood People vs. Gertie Hunter.
00:17:00Interesting family on Dad's side.
00:17:02His great-grandfather and great-uncle were born in Scotland.
00:17:05And what they were known for was, well, one day they slaughtered their entire village.
00:17:10Hey, you know, my Uncle Ralph was in a documentary.
00:17:13They put a big blue dot over his face and changed his voice.
00:17:16Happy birthday, Chet.
00:17:18To all the hunters here at this undisclosed location.
00:17:24When they first met, actors Ben Savage and Ryder Strong didn't like each other that well.
00:17:28Ryder says over the years, Ben just kind of grew on to him.
00:17:32Ben Savage and Ryder Strong reached the point when they learned their lines so quickly
00:17:37and were able to lead each other so well, they felt like they could not make a mistake.
00:17:41Season 2 has the kids starting high school.
00:17:44Mr. Feeney was now the principal, in charge of new teachers, like the cool, Harley-riding Jonathan Turner.
00:17:49They give all the teachers students.
00:17:51I'm Jonathan Turner. You can call me Mr.
00:17:54Mr. Turner had an alternate way of teaching that clashed with Mr. Feeney's more traditional methods.
00:17:59Sean would end up living with Mr. Turner when Sean's dad takes off for his mother, Verna.
00:18:04Howdy, big guy.
00:18:06None of you want me? Well, that's fine.
00:18:08I don't need any of you. I never needed anybody.
00:18:11Mr. Turner was introduced to the show, as far as I understand it, because friends had taken off
00:18:15and ABC was like, you need 20-somethings on the show.
00:18:19Luckily, I think what Michael ended up doing was recognizing that Mr. Turner and Sean
00:18:24had a similar rebelliousness going on there.
00:18:27So suddenly, Sean's living with him, which is kind of ridiculousness when you think about it.
00:18:32Greaser Harvey Harley-Kiner was the school bully introduced as an antagonist to Corey and Sean
00:18:38and even occasionally Eric.
00:18:40Harley believed himself the eyes and ears of the school.
00:18:43Ethan Sapley would play school bully-turned-nice-guy Frankie Stakina.
00:18:47Joey the Rat Epstein was played by Blake Soper slash Sennett,
00:18:52coming off his role of Ronnie Pinsky on Salute Your Shorts.
00:18:55Blake would later leave the show to focus on his band, Rilo Kylie.
00:18:59Joey's role in the gang was never specified, obviously not the muscle.
00:19:03When McNulty left the cast towards the end of the season,
00:19:06Harley made one appearance as a different actor, Kenny Johnston.
00:19:10How's Harley doing in his new reform school?
00:19:12It's called Juvenile Boot Camp.
00:19:14The original actor made one last cameo in the third season
00:19:17where he confronts new bully Griff Hawkins.
00:19:20Adam Scott played replacement school bully Griff Hawkins.
00:19:23It's weird, Boy Meets World has kind of turned into a thing now.
00:19:27At the time it was on Friday nights at 8pm, so no one I knew even knew what it was.
00:19:32It was for kids.
00:19:34So it was a thrill to be on a TV show briefly, but it was not like I ever got recognized for it.
00:19:39If I had known then that in 20 years the show would be beloved,
00:19:42I probably would have been more psyched about it.
00:19:45Season 2 took a heavy focus on different aspects of teen dating.
00:19:53Real life started mirroring the show.
00:20:10Betsy Randall joked that Will Friedle took advantage of the situations
00:20:14that required him to kiss on camera.
00:20:16I was 13 when Boy Meets World started, so when people start interviewing you,
00:20:20it is exciting.
00:20:21Like Tiger Beat or Bob, they start coming to you.
00:20:23They take it very seriously.
00:20:25And they ask, OK, what do you look for in a girl?
00:20:28I thought these were just normal questions everyone asks.
00:20:31A sense of alienation that comes with fame in general,
00:20:33and certainly the type of fame that I had,
00:20:35this particular teen idol thing that I still don't understand.
00:20:38When you're 13 and someone wants to interview you,
00:20:59Ryder also had trouble dealing with the attention that his hair brought him.
00:21:02I hated my hair.
00:21:04I came to the auditions with that hairstyle, got the part,
00:21:06and the director Michael Jacobs never let me cut it from there on out.
00:21:10A bunch of girls at a sleepover told me to wear my hair like that,
00:21:13parted down the center, and I was 12, so I listened.
00:21:16It was my version of Christian Slater.
00:21:18I wanted to cut my hair so bad,
00:21:20but the only time I got to was when we found out the show was going to be canceled.
00:21:23Ryder's big thing was he didn't like his hair falling in his eyes,
00:21:26so, you know, I mean, you see it all the time.
00:21:28He's like running his fingers through his hair,
00:21:30and I don't think he knew he was driving every girl in America wild.
00:21:33It became a part of your character.
00:21:34I know, unfortunately.
00:21:35The hair-flipping thing.
00:21:36Yeah, I know.
00:21:37I still, to this day, if I catch myself doing this, I stop.
00:21:41Ryder admits to not watching many repeats of Boy Meets World,
00:21:44finding it hard to watch his maturation on film.
00:21:47And all the stars of 90s teen media showed up.
00:21:50Candice Cameron, Melissa Joan Hart, Linda Cardinelli,
00:21:53Mina Savare, Keri Russell, Stacey Keenan,
00:21:57Andrew Keegan, Larissa Olnick, Jennifer Love Hewitt.
00:22:00I always had fun working with Love.
00:22:02Not only was she my girlfriend, but also a close friend.
00:22:05I remember how excited we both were when Michael mentioned that he wanted to put her on the show.
00:22:09The show wasn't just about casting the teen idols.
00:22:11We would have interesting old-timer guest stars.
00:22:14Rue McClanahan, Phyllis Diller, Buddy Hackett, Bernie Coppell.
00:22:18We had an episode in the early years where Jim Abbott was on.
00:22:21The show even had a fascination with pro wrestling,
00:22:23including having pro wrestler Vader in the role of father of school bully Frankie Stacchino.
00:22:28I'm the face of death!
00:22:31It was scarier when you had acne.
00:22:33What we didn't realize is that Vader was a villain in the world of wrestling.
00:22:38There's villains and heroes, and he was a villain.
00:22:41So when we ran out to do our scene and character in front of people,
00:22:44they were booing us.
00:22:47They were like, we're just trying to make a TV show.
00:22:50Season 7 saw the girls challenging Eric and Jack to a wrestling match for the apartment
00:22:54with the WWF's Mankind as a referee.
00:22:57I think the coolest story stemming from my appearance on Blemish World
00:23:00is that I'm still in touch with Danielle.
00:23:02A few years ago, somebody sent me a tweet where she mentioned
00:23:04that I was one of the most enjoyable guest stars to work with.
00:23:07Their left-of-center approach led to things like a three-force monkey reunion.
00:23:11ABC was using each TJF show as a platform to promote the newest Beatles anthology.
00:23:16The music in the intro of each of that night's shows would be a Beatles song.
00:23:20In their own quirky, rebellious way, Blemish World decided
00:23:23that'd be the perfect time for an episode with the monkeys.
00:23:26Well, the magical world of Disney is really magical.
00:23:29Why do you think they call it the magical world of Disney?
00:23:32Well, they call it the magical world of Disney because it only shows
00:23:35the greatest Disney films for the entire family.
00:23:38You know, like The Rescuers Down Under, The Lion King, Pollyanna.
00:23:42What would you do if I told you that this family is going to subscribe
00:23:45to the Disney Channel so every Sunday evening we can watch the magical world of Disney?
00:23:49Well, I'd do all my homework, I'd make my bed every day,
00:23:53and I'd let you guys live with me when you're older.
00:23:57Season 3 of Blemish World aired between September 22, 1995 and May 17, 1996.
00:24:05The first change would come by adding a friend for Jonathan Turner.
00:24:08Eli Williams was his former college roommate.
00:24:11Turner would get him a job teaching media arts.
00:24:14They had the character Eli, who was the black young teacher,
00:24:17and they were going to have this whole 20-something storyline.
00:24:20I don't know what they were thinking, but it was a complete disaster.
00:24:23It didn't work at all.
00:24:24You have to please the studio, you have to please the network,
00:24:27you have your corporate masters.
00:24:30When they realize, oh, we have the hit in our hands,
00:24:34they start trusting the people who gave them the hit.
00:24:38Eric would struggle through the season to get his grades up so that he could get into college.
00:24:42Corey and Topanga start the season by finally becoming a couple and say their first,
00:24:46I love you.
00:24:47If I had to dream of a perfect woman,
00:24:51she wouldn't even come close to you.
00:24:57Would you be my girlfriend?
00:25:00I love you.
00:25:03I love you too.
00:25:04But break up in episode 312, but grass is always greener.
00:25:08Lindsay Ridgway would take over the role of Morgan.
00:25:11The show made this switch with an on-camera wink to its fans.
00:25:14I mean, she stays in her room, you don't hear from her, you don't see her,
00:25:17and best of all, she stays out of my personal life.
00:25:20So, rumor upstairs is you got a date.
00:25:23Morgan, long time no see.
00:25:27Yeah, that was the longest time out I've ever had.
00:25:31Things really get hot when Corey accidentally sets fire to the biology lab.
00:25:35Come on, quick, rub off your DNA.
00:25:37Boy meets world.
00:25:38As the season progressed, Chet stays in contact less and less with his son.
00:25:42Mr. Turner gets to the point where he's ready to become Sean's legal guardian.
00:25:46Well, I spoke to an attorney today.
00:25:48Guess what?
00:25:4948 hours, I'm Sean's legal guardian.
00:25:52Whoa, been on the fence about that one for a while.
00:25:55You know, it's what he needs, man.
00:25:56Besides, I've come this far, I might as well go the distance.
00:25:58The season ends with Sean going back to live with his dad, Chet.
00:26:02Eric Matthews graduates, but does not get into college.
00:26:05I didn't get in.
00:26:08What?
00:26:11They rejected me.
00:26:13People keep on saying that the show is going to end, but I honestly have no idea.
00:26:17I thought the show was going to be over after our third season.
00:26:20It just goes to show that you can never tell.
00:26:22With that trust, we were able to be who we really were.
00:26:28And what we did was hit the accelerator.
00:26:31The promise of it was at the beginning.
00:26:35The fulfillment of it hit, as you say, at the middle and went on through the end.
00:26:39TGIF, Backstreet's on TGIF.
00:26:42You know that's where it's at.
00:26:44Backstreet's on TGIF.
00:26:47The guys would lip sync to the Backstreet Boys in front of the audience between takes.
00:26:51Check out Boy Meets World.
00:26:53That is one big freaking picture of the Backstreet Boys.
00:26:56The BSB rocks.
00:26:58I actually still have it on a VHS tape somewhere in my mom's den.
00:27:02It did well.
00:27:03If either of them were in the room, it was on.
00:27:06Sometimes it got so crazy, we couldn't even get through a taping because they'd just be cracking so many jokes.
00:27:11They never let Ryder and I do scenes together because we would look at each other and start laughing.
00:27:16Stick it from that line.
00:27:18Which line? What, we can do it line by line?
00:27:21The fourth season of Boy Meets World aired between September 20, 1996 and May 9, 1997,
00:27:27airing between Clueless and 2020.
00:27:30Hey, I wonder what happened to that chain minder Serena put the spell on.
00:27:32Well, let's see if Cher can explain it to us.
00:27:34Clueless is coming up next.
00:27:36It used to be on at 8.30, but this year they moved to 9.30, those idiots.
00:27:41They moved that show to 9.30, why?
00:27:44No one knows.
00:27:45Well, was it doing badly at 8.30?
00:27:46No.
00:27:47Well, why didn't they leave it alone?
00:27:48They're trying to kill it. They're trying to kill it.
00:27:51On the show, with Eric not getting into college, he returns home with no direction.
00:27:56Alan Matthews has a midlife crisis and the family buys Kimbles, an outdoor adventure store.
00:28:01Eric and Alan begin working together.
00:28:03On the Hunter side, Verna returns to complete the Hunter family.
00:28:07Didn't Verna have a son, Eddie?
00:28:09How come he's never seen when she moves back in with them?
00:28:12Eddie, I'm serious. I'll turn you in.
00:28:15Come on, man, I'm your brother.
00:28:18Kristana Loken debuts as one of Sean's more memorable girlfriends, Jennifer.
00:28:26As my favorite teacher always says, do yourself a favor, eat breakfast.
00:28:35You know, he's right.
00:28:36The energy from breakfast, what you grab from home or school, fuels your brain.
00:28:40So you do better in class, have a better attitude, and do better physically.
00:28:44So do yourself and everybody else a favor, eat right, eat breakfast.
00:28:49Along Walk to Pittsburgh has Topanga dealing with having to leave Philly and move to Pittsburgh with her family.
00:28:55My family and I are moving.
00:29:00The story is resolved when Topanga is allowed to live with her aunt after running away from her new home.
00:29:05Well, maybe she'll realize that we're Romeo and Juliet, we belong together.
00:29:09Look, my aunt has never been in love, never been married, and wouldn't even know who Romeo and Juliet were.
00:29:14We sort of fashioned Corrie and Topanga as Romeo and Juliet.
00:29:18And I thought, wouldn't it be amazing to actually get Juliet to be the conflict?
00:29:23Because Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet, of course, started with Olivia Hussey.
00:29:27And so Olivia Hussey played Topanga's aunt.
00:29:29Well, Ryder and I had to dress up like women.
00:29:31That was quite exciting because it was very new and different.
00:29:35They didn't even ask that I wear undergarments.
00:29:37But the day we were filming, I showed up with some on.
00:29:40My hosiery is bunching.
00:29:42I enjoyed it a lot.
00:29:44Mr. Feeney encouraged Eric to continue his pursuit of college.
00:29:47Alan fires Eric from the store to motivate him.
00:29:50The season also featured the last episode of Mr. Turner on Boy Meets World.
00:29:54When Sean starts hanging around with...
00:29:56Not a cult.
00:29:57Jonathan Turner tries to stop him.
00:29:59Sean does not want his help because he does not believe Mr. Turner really cares about him.
00:30:03A judgment I made a long time ago is that Sean Hunter is the best friend that my kid ever had.
00:30:11And I will kill to protect Sean Hunter from people like you.
00:30:15George, what is it?
00:30:17Jonathan Turner.
00:30:19He's been in a motorcycle accident.
00:30:21Oh, no.
00:30:23Is he okay?
00:30:25No, he isn't.
00:30:27Now, you cannot leave here. Do you hear me?
00:30:29Turner took care of you. He loves you.
00:30:31And you love him.
00:30:33Cut.
00:30:37I don't want to be empty inside anymore.
00:30:40When Mr. Turner gets into a motorcycle accident, it forces Sean to reevaluate his choices.
00:30:44Quinn had a reduced role through most of season four.
00:30:47And going forward, the writers didn't believe his character to have much use in future storylines.
00:30:52Before the days of Netflix and streaming, follow-through on storylines was a lot more or less.
00:30:58This included having the characters jump up in age, jump ahead in grades, and have characters disappear in and out of the storylines.
00:31:06We also meet Dean Bolander in her first appearance in the episode, Learning to Fly.
00:31:11Eric Matthews has to convince her that he is ready to take college seriously after years of slacking off in high school.
00:31:17TGIF is Where It's At with Sabrina, an all-new episode of You Wish, Boy Meets World, and to top it all off, Teen Angel.
00:31:25It's a feisty one.
00:31:26Coming Fridays on ABC.
00:31:28Look, puppy dog eyes. Cool, huh?
00:31:31Hey, Dad! Mom! Come here! Quick! Hurry up!
00:31:34What?
00:31:35What's wrong?
00:31:36Oh, nothing. I just didn't want you to miss The Magical World at Disney, which is next on the Disney Channel Spring Preview.
00:31:40It's the Disney animated classic, The Rescuers.
00:31:42Eric, you scared us to sound as though you needed help.
00:31:45You think?
00:31:46It's funny.
00:31:47Did you say The Magical World at Disney?
00:31:49Yep.
00:31:50Oh, I love watching that.
00:31:51Oh, I remember watching this together as a family and seeing so many wonderful programs.
00:31:55Well, tonight, it's The Rescuers who never fail to answer the call for help.
00:31:59Well, then maybe there's hope for you yet.
00:32:01I sure hope so, because I haven't seen Amy in a while.
00:32:04The fifth season aired from October 3, 1997 and May 15, 1998,
00:32:09returning back to the 830 timeslot between Sabrina the Teenage Witch and You Wish.
00:32:14TGIF is taking you behind the scenes.
00:32:16That's right, Ben. But right now, there's a genie in your future.
00:32:19The magic continues on You Wish.
00:32:21The gang has entered their senior year of high school.
00:32:24With Eric not getting housing, he comes back home,
00:32:27only for Cory to search for an apartment and roommate for his brother.
00:32:30That roommate was Jack Hunter.
00:32:32He's revealed as Sean's paternal half-brother.
00:32:35He's my brother.
00:32:36Of course he is. He is not your brother.
00:32:40Same dad, different moms.
00:32:42Jack and his maternal sister grew up in a wealthy step-family in New York City.
00:32:46Jack's mother left Chet Hunter with her son
00:32:49due to not being able to cope with her former husband's alcoholism.
00:32:53You know why my mom left him?
00:32:54Because she went for a guy with more money?
00:32:57She left him because he was an abusive, ugly drunk.
00:33:00Don't you ever talk about my dad like that!
00:33:02Sean! Stop!
00:33:05He's my father too, man.
00:33:07Alcoholism is in our family, and you shouldn't drink!
00:33:10Sean would later deal with his own alcohol issues in season 5.
00:33:13Sean reveals he always knew about Jack and even wrote to him.
00:33:16Jack says he never got the letters.
00:33:18Although the character of Jack Hunter was Sean's older brother,
00:33:21in real life, Matthew Lawrence was two months younger than Ryder Strong.
00:33:25I was also kind of a really introvert type of a person.
00:33:29I've never actually really asked you guys this, but do you guys think I was just really quiet or...
00:33:33You were shy.
00:33:34Chet decides that the two estranged brothers should live together, along with Eric,
00:33:38and get to know each other.
00:33:39They wanted to add more to the show.
00:33:41They wanted another guy to bounce off Will,
00:33:43a little fresh blood into a situation that was already really good.
00:33:46We also meet Angela Moore.
00:33:48I auditioned five times before they finally said yes.
00:33:52The interracial teen couple of Angela and Sean
00:33:54were considered groundbreaking for a primetime television show.
00:33:57We really didn't mention the fact that I was black and he was white.
00:34:02Funny enough, I grew up in a poor neighborhood,
00:34:04but I was shipped to white schools to go to school all my life.
00:34:08I always had a crush on somebody of the other races.
00:34:12I didn't have a lot of black people at the school, but I'd grown up and everything.
00:34:15So I really related to the character and everything, and I'm proud of it.
00:34:20Originally breaking up because of Sean's two-week rule,
00:34:23the two were reunited when Sean finds a purse
00:34:26and finds the items in it to match his ideal girl.
00:34:29I thought I was just coming on for a guest spot, okay?
00:34:32And then I got called back for two more episodes.
00:34:35And now it's time for Let's Learn Something.
00:34:38This season also featured Amy Randall's favorite moment of filming the show
00:34:42in an episode set in the 40s
00:34:44where she got to dress up like Rosie the Riveter.
00:34:47That's right, Ben.
00:34:48But right now it's time to see what you do in front of the camera.
00:34:5140s world, next on TGIF.
00:34:54The biggest shock of the season came from Cory kissing Lauren.
00:34:57It all begins when Cory sprains his ankle falling off the bus
00:35:00during the senior class ski trip.
00:35:02Cory doesn't tell Topanga when he spends the night with Lauren.
00:35:05Cory milks his injury to stay another day in the lodge.
00:35:08That lie bothers Sean.
00:35:10That night, Cory and Lauren kiss.
00:35:12Before leaving the lodge, Lauren slips a letter in Cory's bag,
00:35:15which Topanga finds.
00:35:17When were you planning on telling me about Lauren's letter?
00:35:20Cory is torn between making up with Topanga
00:35:23or allowing himself to see how it would be to go out with Lauren.
00:35:27After he goes out on a date with Lauren,
00:35:29he decides he can't live without Topanga.
00:35:31But she decides she can't see him anymore.
00:35:34The events of the letter would even come up in Girl Meets World.
00:35:37Before we got married, your father met a girl at a ski lodge
00:35:40and she really liked him.
00:35:42Matthews, you dog.
00:35:45Is this why we never go skiing?
00:35:48Sean Hunter is kidnapped by his jilted exes
00:35:50because they believe that he'll ruin his date with Angela
00:35:53and that they are doing Angela a favor
00:35:55by not allowing her to get hurt on Valentine's Day.
00:35:58Kristen Loken returns as Jennifer.
00:36:00How did I get myself into this?
00:36:03Ready? One, two, three.
00:36:08Can I have her hair?
00:36:10TGIF will be right back and so will I.
00:36:13Don't go anywhere.
00:36:15And then there was Sean,
00:36:16was a season 5 episode written by Jeff Minnell,
00:36:19a freelance writer.
00:36:20Having been heavily influenced by the movie Scream,
00:36:22the script was a favorite of the writers room.
00:36:24The episode was designed to strike a balance
00:36:26between scares and fun.
00:36:28One of my favorite lines in the episode
00:36:30is when Will and Matt Lawrence were told by Ryder that
00:36:33Virgins never die.
00:36:35Alright, thanks for saving me.
00:36:38I'm dead. I'm dead.
00:36:40I'll get as sick as you can get without actually dying.
00:36:43South Park raged through Hollywood that summer like napalm.
00:36:48Howdy ho.
00:36:50Oh my gosh.
00:36:51Think you're kidding.
00:36:53I remember Will got a hold of one of the original tapes
00:36:56of their short film The Spirit of Christmas.
00:36:58I can do Cartman.
00:36:59I'm not fat. I'm festively plump.
00:37:02And we organized screenings for all the writers and the crew.
00:37:05So by the time the show was on Comedy Central,
00:37:07the whole Boy Meets World cast and crew
00:37:09were already complete fanatics.
00:37:11Promises Promises featured the discussion
00:37:13of the gang losing their virginity
00:37:16and Amy becoming pregnant with the fourth Matthew's child.
00:37:19I'm pregnant.
00:37:24I'm not kidding.
00:37:25I'm not kidding.
00:37:27What's that?
00:37:33Cory and Topanga's breakup hit Sean especially hard.
00:37:36Sean had spent most of the season depressed
00:37:38over the fact a relationship like his friend's
00:37:41could just die
00:37:42and made it his mission to get his friends back together.
00:37:45When Topanga realizes a kiss could mean nothing,
00:37:48That's all it took.
00:37:49Do you know what I felt when he kissed me?
00:37:51Yeah, I probably do.
00:37:53Nothing.
00:37:55What?
00:37:56her and Cory make up.
00:37:57Well, tonight TGIF has your backstage pass
00:38:00to Boy Meets World behind the scenes
00:38:02where the real action is.
00:38:06Psych!
00:38:07You'll learn things you never knew about the TGIF stars.
00:38:10Five times a day I put on makeup.
00:38:12Just for fun.
00:38:13Then things really get out of hand
00:38:15when Will Friedle takes you on a TGIF tour of the set.
00:38:18Now, I know you guys can't smell this,
00:38:20but it's absolutely disgusting.
00:38:21The gang gets prepared to graduate,
00:38:23Feeney decides to retire,
00:38:24and Topanga contemplates about going to Yale
00:38:26or staying with Cory.
00:38:28Cory tries to convince Topanga
00:38:30that he wants her to go away to Yale,
00:38:32despite that not actually being what he wants.
00:38:35Sean contemplates not going to college at all.
00:38:38This upsets Cory,
00:38:39who expected everyone to go to the same school together.
00:38:42First, Topanga is accepted to Yale.
00:38:44The Ivy League is pleased to announce
00:38:47the further disintegration of your world.
00:38:49A new Boy Meets World.
00:38:50In an interview, Danielle Fischel said
00:38:52that given the same choices Topanga,
00:38:54she would not have been able to give up Yale.
00:38:57Old faces like Joey, Frankie, and Stuart Minkis
00:39:00return for graduation.
00:39:02Hi, B-Cordy.
00:39:03That makes me Sean.
00:39:04Come on, Joey.
00:39:05It was.
00:39:06I was just in the other part of the school.
00:39:08What other part of the school?
00:39:10You know, over there.
00:39:12Well, we don't go there.
00:39:13Yeah, yeah, you go over there,
00:39:14you may never come back.
00:39:16Ah, that's crazy.
00:39:18Hey, Mr. Turner, wait up.
00:39:20Meanwhile, Eric tries to keep Mr. Feeney from retiring,
00:39:23and Topanga slyly steals
00:39:25the valedictorian position from Minkis
00:39:28and shocks Cory by proposing to him at graduation.
00:39:31Ryan came to me one day on the set
00:39:34and said, I have to quit.
00:39:36I'm really sorry, I really loved it.
00:39:38This was like year five,
00:39:40and I have to go now, so long, bye-bye.
00:39:43And, you know, he turned and went to the door,
00:39:46and it was like Columbo,
00:39:47and just as he reached the door, he said,
00:39:49uh, why do you have to quit?
00:39:52You're watching TGIF.
00:39:54The sixth season aired between September 25, 1998
00:39:57and May 14, 1999,
00:39:59airing at 8.30 between Two of a Kind
00:40:02and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
00:40:03Folks, for the last six years,
00:40:05our next guest has starred on the show
00:40:06Boy Meets World on ABC.
00:40:08Please welcome Mr. Ben Savage.
00:40:17TGIF has your backstage pass to Boy Meets World.
00:40:20Stick around for more TGIF backstage,
00:40:22but first, Boy Meets World next.
00:40:24Joining the cast this season was Maitland Ward as Rachel.
00:40:27And I just think that Rachel was a really smart,
00:40:29smart, strong woman.
00:40:31Ward had actually auditioned for another
00:40:33of Michael Jacobs' shows,
00:40:35Zoe, Duncan, Jack, and Jane.
00:40:37But, um, I didn't get the part for Zoe, obviously.
00:40:40But Michael was so sweet,
00:40:42and they said,
00:40:43we're going to add you to Boy Meets World,
00:40:45and I was like, oh my God,
00:40:46I want to be on Boy Meets World.
00:40:47That was like the best day of my life.
00:40:49Rachel moves in with the boys as Sean moves out.
00:40:52Corey and Topanga leave in the middle
00:40:54of a family argument to elope.
00:40:56But Topanga gets cold feet at the ceremony.
00:40:58The family has set up an impromptu newlywed party.
00:41:01Amy lectures the couple that getting married
00:41:03is a bad idea at their age.
00:41:05Coming out of retirement,
00:41:06Mr. Feeney takes a job at the college.
00:41:08I intended to come here strictly as a student.
00:41:11I thought I had retired from teaching.
00:41:13Yes, well, when I stopped teaching to become dean,
00:41:15I thought the same thing.
00:41:17Lila Bolander is the dean at Penbrook,
00:41:20a strict, disciplinarian college administrator
00:41:23who's romantically attracted to George Feeney.
00:41:26Around this time,
00:41:27the character of Eric started to change.
00:41:29Will was not like Eric in the beginning
00:41:33because he had a fine mind
00:41:38and he spoke in complete senses.
00:41:41For Eric Matthews,
00:41:42we started out with a dependable brother and said,
00:41:44what kind of incredible moron
00:41:46could we turn this character into?
00:41:48No matter how much moron we gave you,
00:41:50you always wanted more.
00:41:51We were happy to supply it.
00:41:53I mean, Will became a genius comedic actor before our eyes.
00:41:56Like, in the original couple,
00:41:58the first season, really,
00:41:59I mean, Will will say this, too.
00:42:00He's like, I learned how to act
00:42:01because he's like, I didn't know how to act
00:42:02that whole first year.
00:42:03But I also think it was because
00:42:04he didn't really have much of a character.
00:42:06Sort of like he was the older brother
00:42:08and, you know, he was like,
00:42:09at first he was kind of a good-looking guy
00:42:10who could always get dates
00:42:11and then, like, that didn't really work
00:42:13and he was kind of too funny.
00:42:15And anyway, by the time, you know,
00:42:17he was doing plays with squirrels,
00:42:18it was like, this is Will's wheelhouse.
00:42:22He was Forrest Gump before Forrest Gump.
00:42:24That's how we, that's how we always described Eric.
00:42:27Stuart, played by Ben Savage's
00:42:29real-life brother Fred Savage,
00:42:31was a teacher the group related to
00:42:33because he treats them as equals.
00:42:35Stuart used the kids' trust
00:42:36to hit on Topanga in her dorm room.
00:42:38This causes Corey to strike Stuart.
00:42:40Stuart tries to have him expelled from the school
00:42:42but is ultimately unsuccessful.
00:42:44Dean Bolander sentences Corey
00:42:46to a probationary period
00:42:48and Stuart would be faced with
00:42:49an investigation for his misconduct.
00:42:51Sean has broken up with Angela
00:42:53so they could both meet new people in college.
00:42:55Chet reappears on campus,
00:42:57promising that he's come to stay
00:42:58and spend time with his sons.
00:43:00Sean, knowing his father,
00:43:02warns Jack that this won't last for long.
00:43:04I guess I just can't believe
00:43:05I'm gonna actually get to spend time with my father.
00:43:08You're not.
00:43:10He said he's staying.
00:43:11Yeah, but the man doesn't know how to stay.
00:43:13Chet suffers a heart attack.
00:43:15Chet and Sean realize how much they need each other
00:43:17and how alike they are.
00:43:19Chet has a second heart attack and dies.
00:43:21We lost him.
00:43:25His heart wasn't strong enough.
00:43:28Sean and Jack clear out Chet's trailer
00:43:30where they discover evidence that Chet
00:43:32went to Jack's stepfather for help
00:43:34in financing Sean's college education.
00:43:37Sean has an issue being Jack's family's charity case.
00:43:40Sean takes the trailer out on the open road.
00:43:42This would mirror the same reaction
00:43:44Sean was said to have
00:43:45when Riley was born on Girl Meets World.
00:43:48Then a distraught Jack cries in Rachel's arms
00:43:51and Eric walks in to find them kissing passionately
00:43:54While in the hospital waiting for Joshua Gabriel Matthews to be born
00:43:58Corey tries to reconnect with the old weird Topanga.
00:44:01There is panic as Joshua is having trouble breathing on his own.
00:44:05Sean returns and is accepted by the elder Matthews as family.
00:44:09Oh, I'm sorry. Family only.
00:44:11Uh, he is family.
00:44:17Goodnight, Sean.
00:44:18Night, Dad.
00:44:19I'm in your memories.
00:44:22And you will always be here
00:44:24to remind me.
00:44:26Use a mirror, babe.
00:44:27Use a mirror, babe.
00:44:29Joshua is able to pull through.
00:44:31Dean Bolander's ex-husband arrives back in town.
00:44:34So that she won't go back with him
00:44:36Corey, Eric and Sean
00:44:38force Mr. Feeny to declare his feelings.
00:44:41If you stick around
00:44:42we promise to show you the rest of the show
00:44:44On ABC?
00:44:45Maybe.
00:44:46Corey Matthews, suffering from Paranoia Jealousosa Syndrome
00:44:49uses his shirt every time anyone even glances at his girlfriend
00:44:52and transforms into the Incredible Hulk.
00:44:55Boy Meets World, Thursdays at 6.30.
00:44:57Topanga's parents come back to town
00:44:59to announce they are in the process of separating
00:45:01which devastates Topanga.
00:45:03Feeny and Dean Bolander get married in the Matthews' living room.
00:45:06During the 6th and 7th season
00:45:08some of the cast began to struggle with their weight.
00:45:15Eric, do you think I'm fat?
00:45:17Yeah.
00:45:18You know, people change over the summer.
00:45:21They both put on 10 pounds.
00:45:23I said, I'm right in it.
00:45:26And Will took an entire slice of pizza
00:45:31and ate the whole thing.
00:45:33And those are the things you don't expect.
00:45:36Though for Will Friedle
00:45:38it was something much more troubling.
00:45:40Anxiety is something that I've dealt with ever since
00:45:42and at one point it was so bad
00:45:44that I couldn't do the on-camera anymore.
00:45:46But when you go back and you watch Boy Meets World
00:45:48you notice the difference between
00:45:50you know, I gained something like 30 or 40 pounds
00:45:52between it was either season 5 and season 6
00:45:55or season 6 and season 7.
00:45:57And it wasn't because, hey, I got lazy and I was eating.
00:45:59It was because I was medicated.
00:46:00It was the only way I could get on camera.
00:46:02Looks like Will Friedle's grabbed one of our TGIF cameras.
00:46:05Let's see what he's up to.
00:46:06Who's paging you with hi, babe?
00:46:08It's the Avengers.
00:46:09Oh, really?
00:46:10Yeah.
00:46:11Uh-huh.
00:46:12So what do you do on the...
00:46:13I'm a boom pusher.
00:46:14No, well, what is a boom pusher?
00:46:15A boom pusher pushes the boom.
00:46:16This is my favorite part right here.
00:46:18The fake fish.
00:46:20There's Rider Strong.
00:46:23Let's go, let's go.
00:46:24The seventh and final season aired between
00:46:26September 24th, 1999 and May 5th, 2000
00:46:30airing at 8.30 between the Hughleys
00:46:32and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
00:46:34Topanga breaks up with Corey
00:46:36fearing they'd end up the same as her parents.
00:46:38Angela then breaks up with Sean.
00:46:40Corey and Sean travel to Pittsburgh
00:46:42attempting to get Topanga's parents back together.
00:46:45Sometimes...
00:46:47love just...
00:46:49dies.
00:46:51Angela is visited by her military father
00:46:54who Sean goes out of his way to impress.
00:46:56Angela admits her love for Sean
00:46:58and the two get back together.
00:47:00Honey, whatever happens between your father and me
00:47:02shouldn't affect what happens between you and Corey.
00:47:05You're unbelievable.
00:47:07Topanga and Corey get back together
00:47:09and continue their engagement.
00:47:11ABC ran an internet poll asking
00:47:13whether Corey and Topanga should get married.
00:47:16Jacobs wanted the iconic couple to marry
00:47:18before the show ended.
00:47:19ABC disagreed with the decision.
00:47:21The network executives thought that the characters
00:47:23which were 20 years old
00:47:25were far too young to get married.
00:47:27You have a brand new thing you aren't using.
00:47:29ABC.com.
00:47:30Where the cast of Boy Meets World
00:47:32is answering your juicy online questions.
00:47:34Like why is Rider so cute?
00:47:37Oh, wow.
00:47:39Cute is a subjective term, Ellison.
00:47:42Nick.
00:47:43I love kissing Danielle. Very nice.
00:47:45That's not all passionate like you think it was.
00:47:47We've got cameras right in our face.
00:47:48Is Rider going with anyone?
00:47:50Well, honey, no.
00:47:52I'm single at the moment.
00:47:53Can I marry Corey?
00:47:54Allie, I'd love to marry you.
00:47:56But don't make any plans, Allie.
00:47:58I'll make you a deal.
00:47:59Run a graphic on Sabrina on the bottom
00:48:01should Corey and Topanga get married or not
00:48:03and he said, we'll get 10,000 hits.
00:48:05And I said, let's see what the 10,000 say.
00:48:08In 15 minutes, we got 220,000 hits.
00:48:1198% of which said, what do you think we're waiting for?
00:48:14Ted called me the next day.
00:48:16Can you please marry them in November or February?
00:48:19So that's what they did.
00:48:22We want to get married next week.
00:48:24No wedding hall, no fancy planner.
00:48:26Just our friends and family.
00:48:28All the people who care about us,
00:48:30right here next Friday night, 8 o'clock.
00:48:327 central.
00:48:35One question.
00:48:38Mr. Feeney?
00:48:40You're going to go through with it this time, aren't you?
00:48:47Okay, we're finally doing it.
00:48:49We're getting married.
00:48:50And we want you to be there, this time next Friday night.
00:48:53You're going to look so cute in a tuxedo.
00:48:55Yeah, it's powder blue.
00:48:56No, it's not.
00:48:57Well, all our friends are going to be there too, including you.
00:48:59It wouldn't be the same without you.
00:49:00So please RSVP to our website.
00:49:02CoreyandTopanga.com
00:49:04See, the Corey and Topanga one word is sort of like a symbol of our unity.
00:49:08No, it's a computer thing.
00:49:10Unity.
00:49:11CoreyandTopanga.com
00:49:12See you at our wedding.
00:49:13I think a lot of people agree that was the jump the shark moment
00:49:16because they got married in the middle of our last season
00:49:18as opposed to ending the show with their marriage.
00:49:20But yes, he got married too young.
00:49:22Definitely.
00:49:23That's my answer.
00:49:24Yes.
00:49:25It's ridiculous.
00:49:26On Corey and Topanga's wedding day,
00:49:28Sean and Corey are in a fight.
00:49:30Corey refuses to talk about the fact that he and Sean
00:49:32will never be best friends again.
00:49:34So Sean refuses to be Corey's best man.
00:49:36When Eric takes over,
00:49:37he moves the wedding to the most expensive place in town.
00:49:40Illegally.
00:49:41The wedding goes on as planned
00:49:42until Sean comes with the ring that Eric forgot.
00:49:45And Corey and Sean have it out once and for all.
00:49:47Do you really like her?
00:49:52Yeah, I really do.
00:49:56You sure?
00:49:57They're divorced, right?
00:49:58Probably.
00:49:59No, no.
00:50:00Because the whole conceit of the show
00:50:02was that they were meant for each other.
00:50:04So I can't say that.
00:50:05Of course they're still together in magical happy land.
00:50:08Yes, I think that had to happen.
00:50:10It was just the right thing.
00:50:12We had watched these two characters
00:50:14and their relationship blossom over the course of seven years.
00:50:17And it was just the right thing.
00:50:19Topanga and Corey then must adjust to married life
00:50:21and find a place to live.
00:50:23Verna writes Sean a letter revealing to him
00:50:25that he is not her son,
00:50:27but the son of a stripper.
00:50:29Hey, but don't blame her, son.
00:50:31She wasn't really the mother type.
00:50:33She was more...
00:50:35How can I put this delicately?
00:50:37A stripper.
00:50:39This is a question that may not have an answer.
00:50:43At least not for now.
00:50:46Sean struggles to accept the fact
00:50:48that he has no idea who his parents are.
00:50:50Feeling depressed, Sean shows up drunk
00:50:52to Alan's 46th birthday party.
00:50:56I'll be your father.
00:51:00You'll be what?
00:51:02I want you to be a member of this family.
00:51:04Sean, you have always been a part of our family.
00:51:06How about we make it official?
00:51:08Sean has always reminded your dad
00:51:10of someone he knew when he was a kid.
00:51:13You had a best friend like Sean?
00:51:15I was like Sean.
00:51:17Chet shows back up as Sean's spiritual guardian
00:51:20and Sean comes to grips with his past.
00:51:22Sean returns to the party,
00:51:24turns down the offer of adoption,
00:51:26but still knows he's always part of the family.
00:51:28This season also featured the fan favorite episode
00:51:31about a prank war that breaks out
00:51:33between Rachel, Jack, and Angela
00:51:35versus Sean, Corey, and Topanga
00:51:38with Eric acting as a neutral spy.
00:51:40And they handed out flyers saying
00:51:42okay, nobody have food anywhere near the bear
00:51:45and don't move fast.
00:51:46Well in the scene we're covered in honey
00:51:48and we run away from the bear.
00:51:50The character was so crazy
00:51:52that I walked onto the set dressed in this long beard
00:51:55with matted stuff and I'm holding a staff
00:51:57and the audience was like, yep, that makes sense.
00:51:59Like you got us, where are we going now?
00:52:01In the second to last episode,
00:52:03Angela's father returns to take her to Europe for a year
00:52:06and Topanga gets an internship
00:52:09at the law firm Brown Elliott in New York.
00:52:12Rachel, Jack, and Eric graduate from college.
00:52:15Boy Meets World at the end of its seventh year
00:52:19could have gone to an eighth year, a ninth year, a tenth year.
00:52:22Watching them grow was your fascination
00:52:25and my fascination.
00:52:27By the time we hit the seventh season,
00:52:29we had kind of really, all of our characters had found,
00:52:32you know, they had grown up.
00:52:34My parents and I love it.
00:52:35What are the odds of that happening?
00:52:37Wow, Danielle, you really love Kooshlings.
00:52:40Yeah, Jodi, they're cool.
00:52:43Guess what?
00:52:44Now there's Wild Times Kooshlings.
00:52:46Way cool.
00:52:47Yes!
00:52:48Ah!
00:52:50Ka-ching!
00:52:51Hee-hee-hee-hee-hee-hee-hee!
00:52:53Ah!
00:52:54Dude!
00:52:55Dude, come here!
00:52:56I'm gonna miss you.
00:52:57I'm gonna miss you so much.
00:52:58Let's not say goodbye.
00:52:59If I had to dream of the perfect woman,
00:53:01she wouldn't even come close to you.
00:53:03The only thing that ever made sense to me was you.
00:53:08I love you all.
00:53:10Class dismissed.
00:53:12Say farewell to Boy Meets World in one week on ABC.
00:53:17In the two-part finale,
00:53:18Jack and Rachel join the Peace Corp.
00:53:20Sean and Eric join Corey and Topanga in going to New York.
00:53:23Corey talks to his little brother Joshua,
00:53:25played by Daniel Jacobs.
00:53:27You know, it's the same world that's given you
00:53:29your family and your friends, you know?
00:53:34And you're gonna come to believe
00:53:35that the world's gonna protect you, too.
00:53:41Boy Meets World.
00:53:44Now I get it.
00:53:45Mr. Feeny returns back to the high school
00:53:47and says farewell to the kids with some final advice.
00:53:51Dream.
00:53:54Try.
00:53:59Do good.
00:54:00Dream.
00:54:01Try.
00:54:02Do good.
00:54:03Always stuck with me as a mantra.
00:54:05We're all adults now,
00:54:06and we're trying to do the best with what we can.
00:54:08The four main cast members,
00:54:10Danielle and myself and two others,
00:54:12were in the classroom with William Daniels,
00:54:14and he looked at us,
00:54:15and his final line was,
00:54:17I love you all, class dismissed.
00:54:19And Dream, try do good.
00:54:21But he said, I love you all, class dismissed.
00:54:23And I remember when they said cut,
00:54:25it was almost like someone was saying,
00:54:26you're no longer a kid anymore.
00:54:28You know, it was like moving on to the next stage of your life.
00:54:30And I'll always remember that.
00:54:31You'll remember that, too.
00:54:32Absolutely.
00:54:33This is my childhood that isn't my childhood.
00:54:35It's a big part of my childhood,
00:54:37but it's just acting.
00:54:38A lot of the time,
00:54:39I was really experiencing some of those things on camera.
00:54:42And Michael is over my shoulder
00:54:44going, be a professional, don't grab your nose.
00:54:46Sure enough, on camera, I grabbed my nose
00:54:48because I was like snotting all over the place.
00:54:51We only did that last scene in one take
00:54:53because we were all too just wrecked.
00:54:55A lot of those emotions, like that finale,
00:54:57those are real tears.
00:54:59How can I learn so much every week
00:55:01and still be so stupid?
00:55:03Since entering syndication,
00:55:04Boy Meets World has aired on ABC Family,
00:55:07MTV2, and the Disney Channel.
00:55:10It's the only TGIF show that has never left syndication.
00:55:13I think this show has mass appeal,
00:55:16or we're hoping it does.
00:55:17Because it was very popular, right?
00:55:19It was.
00:55:20And interesting about the show
00:55:21is that it got more popular once we went off the air.
00:55:23It found a great life in cable and reruns.
00:55:26So the kids have seen it.
00:55:27It's never been off the air in 21 years.
00:55:29On Disney?
00:55:30Not just on Disney.
00:55:31ABC Family, MTV2.
00:55:34After Boy Meets World,
00:55:36after TGIF came off the air,
00:55:39children were persona non grata
00:55:41on primetime network television.
00:55:45So all of a sudden,
00:55:46there were boutique cable channels
00:55:49which catered to this particular audience.
00:55:52Oh, thank you so much.
00:55:55This is the coolest thing in the world.
00:55:59You know what?
00:56:00We want to thank everyone out there.
00:56:02Thank you guys for supporting our show.
00:56:04And we love everyone out there.
00:56:06We hope you're having fun because we love you.
00:56:08Love you guys.
00:56:11But it's hard to escape Boy Meets World
00:56:13when kids get out at 3 o'clock of schools in New York
00:56:16and then they're on the subway
00:56:18asking for my autograph constantly.
00:56:20William Daniels tells of a time
00:56:22that he was spotted by school kids
00:56:23coming home on the bus.
00:56:25They spotted me and they started yelling,
00:56:27Mr. Feeney, Mr. Feeney, I'm a coward.
00:56:29I ran all the way around the block just to escape them.
00:56:32I had no idea the show was that popular
00:56:36and it wasn't until it just started showing on TV.
00:56:38And now it shows on TV sometimes six hours a day.
00:56:41People don't give me crap in bars.
00:56:43It's a pretty sentimental show.
00:56:45But when you're a young person,
00:56:47sentimentality doesn't bother you so much.
00:56:49The fans that we grew up with,
00:56:51you know, we started this show when I was about 12.
00:56:53So I was like this young little kid
00:56:55and our fans were basically like younger people.
00:56:57But as I've grown up, like our audience has grown up.
00:56:59So most of our fans now are like in college.
00:57:02So I get guys coming up to me all the time
00:57:04just like fraternity guys.
00:57:05Like, yeah, we love your show.
00:57:07Like I grew up with it.
00:57:08And like they play drinking games to our show.
00:57:10They do everything to our show.
00:57:11You know, and it's amazing
00:57:13how many wonderful lessons are in the show
00:57:17and it's sort of disguised with comedy.
00:57:19So you don't really notice it when you're a kid.
00:57:21But then you're like, wait a second,
00:57:22that was like a big topic.
00:57:24People who are now parents write saying,
00:57:26you helped me grow up.
00:57:28You helped me raise my family.
00:57:30That has been really gratifying.
00:57:32People say, you know,
00:57:34that they needed a dad at a certain time in their life.
00:57:38And I happened to be that dad for them.
00:57:41And that's really quite touching to me.
00:57:44Boy Meets World's legacy seems to have only gotten bigger
00:57:47since leaving the air.
00:57:48Yeah, yeah, you still get letters.
00:57:50Yeah, for sure.
00:57:51Yeah, absolutely.
00:57:52Yeah, Boy Meets World is just,
00:57:55for television, that's one of those experiences
00:57:57that, you know, it's kind of like a phenomenon.
00:58:00It just sort of happens
00:58:01and you're kind of along for the ride.
00:58:03From loving tributes on late night.
00:58:07Boy Meets World.
00:58:10Boy Greets World.
00:58:12Hello, world!
00:58:13I'm Cory Matthews,
00:58:15short and average, head full of curls.
00:58:18To the internet.
00:58:19You know that friends will always stand by me
00:58:24when there's Boy Meets World.
00:58:28To the general zeitgeist.
00:58:30You like Boy Meets World?
00:58:31Love it.
00:58:32What song is running through my head right now?
00:58:34Theme song from Saved by the Bell.
00:58:36Oh, my God, it was the theme song to Boy Meets World.
00:58:38Nothing past season five.
00:58:39Boy Meets World?
00:58:40Nothing past season eight.
00:58:41Was that before or after Cory marries Topanga?
00:58:43My favorite was when it was Family Matters,
00:58:44Boy Meets World, Sabrina the Teenage Witch,
00:58:46and Step by Step.
00:58:47My father's joined the cast of Boy Meets World.
00:58:49Just when you're saying your prayers tonight,
00:58:51in addition to the one about meeting Topanga
00:58:53from Boy Meets World.
00:58:54Topanga!
00:58:56I'm guessing this is how Cory and Topanga
00:58:59will react at Mr. Feeney's funeral.
00:59:01Before Aaron, his biggest client
00:59:03was a day player on Boy Meets World.
00:59:05I'm just excited because they're showing
00:59:07an episode of Boy Meets World.
00:59:09I did that at the movie White Chicks,
00:59:11and when...
00:59:14It's funny, when I went on the set,
00:59:15Dwayne's brothers and other cast members were like,
00:59:17wait, we gotta ask,
00:59:18are you on Boy Meets World?
00:59:20You can now buy shirts with Mr. Feeney on them,
00:59:23confess your feelings about show plots,
00:59:25see a history of shoes worn on the show,
00:59:27or even interact with the stars themselves.
00:59:29A 2013 article in People Magazine
00:59:32said that Cory and Shawn had the best friendship
00:59:35in television history.
00:59:36A 2011 article in the New York Times
00:59:39said Boy Meets World is one of the iconic shows
00:59:41of the 90s.
00:59:42Boy Meets World even led way to a sequel series,
00:59:45Girl Meets World.
00:59:46That's different from Boy Meets World.
00:59:48Yeah, it's their kids.
00:59:49So Cory and Topanga have a daughter.
00:59:51They also have a son named Augie,
00:59:52but anyway, it's that show,
00:59:54so we watch that show a lot.
00:59:55Everyone had kind of moved on after Boy Meets World
00:59:57and was doing their own stuff
00:59:59and engaged in their own projects.
01:00:01Everyone was busy,
01:00:02and then there had been talk of maybe a reunion
01:00:05or sequel over the years,
01:00:06but nothing really came of it.
01:00:08Things started to happen,
01:00:09and all of a sudden, it became a real thing.
01:00:12Ben Savage and Daniel Fischel
01:00:14reprised their roles in Girl Meets World,
01:00:16which centers on the life of the couple's daughter,
01:00:19Riley Matthews.
01:00:20So he was Boy Meets World.
01:00:22I was.
01:00:23Now you are the Girl Meets World,
01:00:24so you're the Cory now.
01:00:25I am the Cory.
01:00:27Cory has become a middle school teacher
01:00:29while Topanga is a lawyer,
01:00:30both retaining their original character traits.
01:00:33William Daniels was kind of the epitome
01:00:35of what a teacher should be on Boy Meets World.
01:00:37That character was just wonderful, wise,
01:00:40and just, he knew everything.
01:00:42He had all the answers.
01:00:43Cory, as a teacher, doesn't have the answers,
01:00:46but he's figuring it out,
01:00:48and I think he's doing the best that he can,
01:00:50and I think that that's something that people our age,
01:00:52myself and Danielle's age,
01:00:54you know, young 30s, 30-ish,
01:00:57they're slowly figuring it out.
01:00:59They obviously don't have all the answers,
01:01:01but they're doing the best they can.
01:01:02I believe that a large part of the reason
01:01:03I am as independent and self-confident as I am
01:01:06is because I grew up portraying Topanga,
01:01:09who is the epitome of a do-it-all kind of girl.
01:01:12It's been a lot of fun revisiting Cory again.
01:01:14Most of the writers and many of the crew members
01:01:16worked on the original series,
01:01:17and it's incredible to go to work every day
01:01:19and see so many familiar faces on set.
01:01:21Working on Girl is this journey into the past.
01:01:24I have a lot of deja vu moments.
01:01:26And then we can name our children Chewbacca and Plankton.
01:01:29Cory and Topanga's kids did not end up being called
01:01:31Chewbacca and Plankton.
01:01:33I guess they eventually settled with
01:01:35Riley and Augie Matthews.
01:01:37Rowan Blanchard plays Riley,
01:01:39despite originally coming in to audition
01:01:41for the role of Maya Hart.
01:01:43It's important for people to understand
01:01:44that it's not going to be picking up
01:01:46where Boy Meets World left off.
01:01:48We're trying to create a show
01:01:49for a brand new generation of kids to grow up with.
01:01:52How do I get up in the morning and think to myself
01:01:54that I'm not doing a unique show of this day?
01:01:57Girl Meets World has got to be
01:02:00about the friendship of these two children
01:02:05as couched by somebody who has been through it
01:02:10and is still confused.
01:02:12Disney called Michael Jacobs
01:02:14asking for a new Boy Meets World.
01:02:17Michael Jacobs was intrigued by the idea
01:02:19of bringing back the same type of storytelling
01:02:21that Boy Meets World was famous for
01:02:23back to television.
01:02:25A lot of the motivation for making the show
01:02:27was to address the issues and concerns
01:02:30that kids nowadays are going through.
01:02:32So we were lucky enough to have Ryder Strong come back
01:02:35who played Sean on the original show.
01:02:37He plays Sean in this show as well.
01:02:38People are going to be very excited to see him.
01:02:40Bill Daniels makes an appearance again as Mr. Feeney
01:02:43who is just an iconic teacher.
01:02:46We also got to see Rusty who played Alan Matthews.
01:02:51Betsy Randall who played Amy Matthews.
01:02:54Lee Norris comes back as playing Minkus.
01:02:58We get a lot of really great people to come back
01:03:00and if we get to continue on
01:03:02we hope that more will return.
01:03:04We're going to figure out a way to see
01:03:05absolutely everybody in this room
01:03:08and Mr. Feeney.
01:03:09Yes, and the cardboard cutout.
01:03:11The cardboard cutout is going to make a great appearance.
01:03:13She's a done deal.
01:03:14Ryder didn't want to revisit Sean Hunter.
01:03:16He told me he keeps him locked in the cellar.
01:03:19I'll be honest and say it has not been fun
01:03:21playing Sean again.
01:03:22Going back to the show as a director
01:03:24is incredibly satisfying and fulfilling.
01:03:26She's the one who left.
01:03:28I got left.
01:03:29Yeah, I get a lot of that too.
01:03:32Who's on your list?
01:03:33Mother, father, girlfriend.
01:03:36Wow.
01:03:38What is it with us?
01:03:39Nothing good happens to Sean.
01:03:41Sean returned on Girl Meets World
01:03:43in the episode, Home for the Holidays,
01:03:45the 16th episode of season one.
01:03:48Sean, Amy and Alan and Uncle Joshua
01:03:51played by Uriah Shelton
01:03:53are coming over for a holiday dinner.
01:03:55Girl Meets World has kept true to its word
01:03:57of getting every Boy Meets World character involved.
01:04:00So we're still friends?
01:04:02Because I haven't seen you in a really long time.
01:04:04Not a day goes by that your voice
01:04:06still isn't inside my head.
01:04:08No matter what I do.
01:04:09Sean has now developed a relationship with Riley
01:04:12and especially with Riley's best friend,
01:04:14Maya Hart.
01:04:15I like her very much.
01:04:17Doesn't she remind you of someone?
01:04:21What can I say?
01:04:22I like people that remind me of me.
01:04:24Maya and Riley's friendship
01:04:26is written to parallel the same type of relationship
01:04:29that Corey and Sean had.
01:04:31Riley and I are the best friends on this planet.
01:04:33Well, that's cute.
01:04:34Because Corey and I are the best friends
01:04:36in all of existence,
01:04:37which includes your little crummy planet.
01:04:39Sean has become a mentor slash father figure to Maya
01:04:42and has a budding complicated relationship
01:04:44with Maya's mother, Katie.
01:04:46The writers have continued Sean's journey
01:04:48by giving him closure with Angela.
01:04:51What's going on?
01:04:53I'm married now.
01:04:55Let what we had make you ready for something.
01:05:00I have kids, Angela.
01:05:04But more of you in the world.
01:05:06And having his dad Chet Spirit guide him
01:05:08on major life decisions.
01:05:10Take a look at the expression on them two faces.
01:05:13You know what that is?
01:05:15Hope.
01:05:16We saw Harley Kiner return as a janitor
01:05:19whose life was changed by Corey.
01:05:21You look a lot like Harley Kiner.
01:05:23And now looks out for the school kids.
01:05:25I appreciate you, baboon.
01:05:27Now get out of here so I can go home.
01:05:29Stuart Minkus returned as the father
01:05:31of the main character, Farkle Minkus.
01:05:33Minkus.
01:05:35Topanga.
01:05:37I'm Stuart Minkus' son.
01:05:39Minkus reproduced?
01:05:41Farkle Minkus shares many of his dad's attributes,
01:05:43eager to learn and a know-it-all wannabe ladies' man.
01:05:46Stuart even married Sean's old girlfriend, Jennifer.
01:05:50The girls are also joined by Lucas Fryer,
01:05:52a native of Austin, Texas,
01:05:54trying to make a new life and reputation
01:05:56for himself in New York.
01:05:58Sean often displays common sense and good manners,
01:06:01going out of his way to bond with people
01:06:03who are his opposites.
01:06:05This makes him good friends with the nerdy Farkle
01:06:07and the target of mockery by Maya.
01:06:09The girls even got to meet Mr. Feeny
01:06:11at his Philadelphia home
01:06:13and do the famous Feeny call.
01:06:15Nobody was more elated to be back than Will Friedle.
01:06:17Since season six, Will Friedle had been suffering
01:06:20from an anxiety attack.
01:06:22This cost him a huge ABC acting contract
01:06:24because he no longer could act on camera,
01:06:27forcing him to focus on voice acting.
01:06:57Eric Matthews once knew me as Tommy.
01:07:01Hi, Eric.
01:07:03The show would be a reunion with the same boy, Tommy,
01:07:06that Eric big-brothered and almost adopted.
01:07:09Being forced into voice acting,
01:07:11Will considers the best thing that could have happened.
01:07:14The biggest promise the writers fulfilled
01:07:16was the nagging question of what happened to Jonathan Turner.
01:07:19Cory, you were listening.
01:07:21How could I not?
01:07:22I mean, you wore a leather jacket to work every day.
01:07:25You taught comic books.
01:07:26So, word has it you took care of Sean Hunter?
01:07:29Yeah, I did.
01:07:31His dad was a little off and on.
01:07:33No kid should have that.
01:07:34Yeah?
01:07:36Did you care about him, though?
01:07:38You weren't his real father.
01:07:39No, I wasn't.
01:07:41But was it possible for you to?
01:07:43Yes, Maya.
01:07:44I loved him like a son.
01:07:48I still do.
01:07:50Mr. Turner was now a superintendent.
01:07:53Jonathan reveals that he married his nurse
01:07:55who cared for him after his motorcycle accident
01:07:57in Boy Meets World.
01:07:59You rode to work on a motorcycle?
01:08:01Right up until the day the bike and I both got totaled.
01:08:04But things happened for a reason.
01:08:06I married my nurse.
01:08:08You fell in love with her?
01:08:10Yeah, in case it ever happens again.
01:08:12Though if you'd like to know where Nebula Lawrence
01:08:14and Stacey Hunter went, well...
01:08:19I don't know where I'm going but I know where I've been
01:08:24I don't know who I'm gonna see but I know who I've seen
01:08:29I don't know where I was last night but I sure had a ball
01:08:33I think I had too much and I don't remember at all

01:10:02Busted.
01:10:14I wonder how they make a spectacular animated movie come to life.
01:10:19Well, the Disney Channel must be reading your mind.
01:10:22Hey, can they legally do that?
01:10:24No, because next up, the Disney Channel is taking us behind the scenes to see how they do it.
01:10:28From the stories, to the artists, to the animators, to the actors.
01:10:31Wait a minute, wait a minute.
01:10:32You're saying that they're going to show us all the special secrets in making an animated movie?
