00:00Newcastle United are up to third in the Premier League table with a routine 3-0 win here over
00:06Ipswich Town in the Premier League. Now Newcastle came into the game obviously knowing that Chelsea
00:11had beaten Everton in the game before and knowing that the prize of going third in the table was a
00:16stake if they won but of course that win for Chelsea against Everton really put the pressure
00:20on them to get a win and keep their noses in front in this you know really tight battle for
00:25a Champions League qualification and they managed to do that with as I said before a routine win over
00:30Ipswich Town of course Ipswich relegated after that loss and other than the first I would say 10-15
00:35minutes it never really looked in doubt for Newcastle but they were made to work for it especially in
00:39those 10 minutes beginning obviously Eddie Howe back on the touchline after missing the last three
00:43games and it was good to see him back and you would have thought Newcastle would have really started
00:47with lots of intent lots of high pressing you know showing the best of Eddie Howe team with him and
00:52it didn't really happen to be honest Ipswich had a couple of early chances they had one cleared off
00:55the line early on and you know Newcastle didn't really settle in the game for about 10 minutes
01:00I would say 15 minutes and then they got into their rhythm they dominated a lot of the ball had a lot
01:04of possession but they couldn't really break down an Ipswich back line that was very resilient
01:08you know they put up a fight to be fair Ipswich certainly in their first period but then
01:13Ill Discipline really got the better of them I think they were they looked like a Championship team who
01:17you know couldn't handle the ability of of Newcastle going down to 10 men was never going to help
01:23their case and that happened Ben Johnson got two yellow cards and first for a simulation on the
01:28edge of Newcastle's box so Dan Burns fouling Ben Johnson I haven't seen it I won't lie but it seems
01:33you know the general consensus seems is it the Michael Solsby made the right call and just seven
01:38or eight minutes later he then fouls Alexander Isak and Isak flicks a ball around him he's heading into the
01:43box Ben Johnson pulls him back and that is a yellow card like it's a yellow card that you only see people get
01:49away with once have been yellow carded but and he wasn't fortunate this time referee showed him a
01:53book again and from that moment Newcastle United were absolutely dominant and they never looked
01:57back Alexander Isak scored a penalty just before half time to really settle the nerves around you
02:02I think they've gone into the break maybe a level there might be one or two nerves but that was you
02:07know Isak settled the nerves straight away but that was sort of only half the story the first half it was an
02:11absolutely chaotic sort of end to the first half the last 10-15 minutes I've talked about the red card
02:15Isak's penalty initially wasn't given by Michael Salisbury and for a foul by Julio and Seesaw on
02:21Jacob Murphy and Seesaw and Seesaw sorry pulled back Murphy but he was sent them on and it was given
02:26I think it was probably the right call to give it and you know I think I think there was a foul
02:32they obviously got some benefit from that Isak scored Isak has missed penalties but he put that one
02:36away earlier in that there'd been a VAR call for coming together between Sam Morsi and Joe Willock in
02:43the middle of the park and it was an off the ball incident didn't really see what happened but VAR
02:46checked it for violent conduct and that was quickly you know quickly confirmed that it wasn't a red
02:51card in that and yeah it was just it was just a chaotic first 45 I'm sure there was another VAR
02:58incident which would come back to me but yeah in the second half Newcastle made their dominance count
03:01Dan Byrne with a towering header and just his first Premier League goal this season of course his second
03:05of the campaign in all competitions we all remember that first one was of course at Wembley in the
03:10Carabao Cup final and then Will Assoula it was a bright spark after he came on he looked really
03:13good he came on for Jacob Murphy alongside Wilson who came on for Isak in the second half we were
03:1820 minutes ago and Assoula within a couple minutes of coming on got in the end it was a really good
03:22corner from Kieran Trippi on Assoula headed it back over the top of Palmer in the Ipswich goal it was a
03:28brilliant header from Assoula and yeah Newcastle ran out comfortable 3-0 winners they didn't really have
03:32to do too much they just you know especially in the second half kept the ball well didn't
03:36over commit too many players they don't have to because you know they've they've now got four
03:39really big games coming up they'll have a harder challenge in each one of them four games coming
03:42up and obviously Brighton next week it's a massive game but they had to win today not just with Chelsea
03:46winning but you have to beat teams like Ipswich town at home they've done that so you know hats off
03:50to them you've got to give them that they go five points above Villa in the table they stay above
03:54Chelsea they stay above Man City and Nottingham Forest at least until Thursday Man City and then Nottingham Forest
03:59of course in FA Cup action they meet on Sunday so they tomorrow as I'm recording Aston Villa
04:05play Crystal Palace tonight and they obviously played that game and had against City in the
04:09week and got beat that's why Newcastle are now five points ahead of them and Nottingham Forest
04:12play Brentford on Thursday so you know Newcastle will be third till at least Thursday if Nottingham
04:16Forest win that they'll go back above them but yeah it's they have to finish just above you know
04:20two of them teams and so far you know they've got the nose in front and they are the pace setters
04:24yeah that game against Chelsea in two weeks time look two weeks and a day's time looks massive but
04:30right now they'll be happy with that win and yeah Ipswich town you know gave as good as it got
04:34over the season just haven't been good enough and the fans enjoyed a big day out they to
04:38be fair a lot of them stayed after they pulled their team off you know I think the relegation
04:41has been on cards for a while now and of course they knew they had to win here and not just win
04:45here but win five games in a row and hope West Ham lost five games in a row and so it was never
04:50unlikely they were going to survive and their relegation is confirmed I've seen James Park but
04:54yeah back to Newcastle United it's a solid result in the race of Champions League and yeah now
04:59they've got four more games and four massive games it really is it can't be underestimated how big
05:03them games especially against Brighton next weekend then Chelsea week after I think get two wins from
05:07that they're almost there you know they're going to Arsenal in Everton on the finals they're going
05:11to Arsenal just for the final game season against heaven knowing that maybe just a point's enough
05:15but obviously we don't know what the Premier League salesman like but yes it was a big win they did I
05:19had to get a win and they did yeah just Newcastle will be really happy with maybe not their performance
05:26but just with a win and head to Brighton next week full of confidence that it's going to be a huge game
05:32and yeah the best we can see with all the news before from Eddie Howe and from the Kieran McKenna
05:38and whoever else speaks today and of course in the lead up to that Brighton game is with the Shields
