00:00We had a surprise phone call this morning from the man himself. Good morning.
00:05Hey, good morning.
00:08Oh, look, is it Mr. Roll or is it Mr. Jelly Roll?
00:13Oh, dude, just call me Jelly.
00:15Just Jelly.
00:16Hey, Jelly Roll, it is so good to hear your voice and talk to you again. How you been?
00:21I've been incredible, man. I mean, it's hard to have a bad week when you're officially selling tickets to your first headlining arena amphitheater tour.
00:29Yeah, that's pretty exciting. I mean, congratulations on that. I mean, it has been quite the year for you.
00:36No, dude, the last year is just it's just unreal, man.
00:39The sheriff, I got to go do a concert at the same county jail.
00:42I was locked up in here and the sheriff gave me a key to that jail.
00:46Oh, my goodness.
00:47No, can you imagine how it feels that you change your life in such a way that the sheriff of one of the biggest metropolises in America gives you a key to the jail that you were incarcerated in?
00:59All right. Well, the interview's done. Thanks for that.
01:02It's like I just couldn't. There's things that are happening in my life that were beyond even imagination.
01:07I can't even say I dreamed of it because it's just beyond even being able to imagine.
01:12Well, you know, Son of a Sinner is just a fantastic song.
01:15Every time I still hear it, it's just it's just so well written, so well sung by you.
01:20But then you come out with this new song and I'm more blown away by it.
01:25It's just incredible hearing your words in song.
01:30It's so impactful, man.
01:32You're on fire with your music, man.
01:34I love it.
01:35No, thank you, man.
01:36And Need a Favor is just the beginning of an album.
01:39The album will be out this summer.
01:41It'll be my debut country album.
01:42And I'm excited, man.
01:44The one thing I love about you, Jelly Roll, is that you just came out and you said, here's who I am.
01:51Here's what I've done.
01:52Here's what I've dealt with.
01:53And I think that's why people are so drawn to you because you're just wearing everything literally on your sleeve.
02:01Yeah, no, but it's all tattooed on me, too.
02:03It's a road map to my failures.
02:05No, it's just be yourself all the time.
02:08You don't have to worry about nobody catching you in a weird, you know.
02:10And it's just like, man, if God ever puts me in a position to be an actual entertainer and in the public eye, I'm just going to be myself.
02:18Good for you.
02:18I love that about you.
02:20Everybody in the country world is just soaking you up.
02:24And I see you all over social media hanging out with, you know, rubbing elbows with all the big timers in country.
02:31Is there anybody that you've been like kind of starstruck over meeting?
02:36Man, almost everybody.
02:38I mean, I've been a country music fan my whole life, so it's like almost everybody you bump into, you're like, oh, dude, that's crazy.
02:45You know what I'm saying?
02:45You're like, that's nuts.
02:46That person even knows I'm a human being, you know.
02:49I'm still that dude.

03:06I watched him when I was a kid, you know what I mean?
03:08Like, it's nuts that he knows I'm a breathing human.
03:10That just makes you human because you're like, oh, my gosh, he knows my name.
03:13Oh, my gosh.
03:14That's crazy.
03:14Yeah, literally.
03:15Like, I can't believe you know who I am.
03:17You know what I'm saying?
03:19When Miranda Lambert agreed to write with me and hang out with me, I was like, I can't believe Miranda Lambert would even know that I exist.
03:27Yeah.
03:27You know what I'm saying?
03:27Like, I would faint if I knew that Miranda Lambert knew who I was two years ago.
