00:00We know the hard work and sacrifice they go through serving our community and keeping us safe.
00:06Let's honor another first responder on 99.5 QYK.
00:11I've got Terry on the phone for First Responder Friday right now talking about his son, Tyler.
00:15Good morning, Terry. How are you doing?
00:17I'm doing well. How about you?
00:19We're doing great. We're glad you reached out to us.
00:21So tell us what Tyler does as a first responder and where he is a first responder at.
00:25Well, Tyler is a fire medic with Clearwater Fire Department, and he's been there for almost six years now.
00:33He's been a firefighter for nine years.
00:35So, Terry, is this something you saw in Tyler from a very young age?
00:39Oh, yeah. When he was young, when he was four or five, he always wanted to go to the fire station and see the woo-wees.
00:47He wanted to go to the fire station and dress up as a fireman for Halloween and going for walks.
00:53He couldn't walk by a fire hydrant without him wanting to jump on it and get his picture taken on a fire hydrant.
00:58Aw.
00:59I read here, too, that his wife is also a firefighter as well in Madeira Beach.
01:04She is. She's a firefighter at Madeira Beach, and they've been married for about a year and a half now.
01:10And they actually got married over in Tampa at the Firefighter Museum.
01:14Oh, that's very cool. What's your daughter-in-law's name?
01:16Her name's Joe.
01:17All right. So does Joe absolutely brag about how awesome Madeira Beach fire trucks are?
01:21I mean, they're all blacked out and whatnot?
01:24Well, you know what? Madeira Beach fire trucks do look nice.
01:27But I'm glad Clearwater went back to the red instead of that orange back in the day.
01:31That's awesome.
01:32Now, I'm assuming they have the same shift, right?
01:35No, they don't.
01:36Oh, it's got to be tough.
01:37Their marriage will work great because they never see each other.
01:40There you go.
01:41But honestly, though, I mean, they're both committed to their jobs.
01:45They got servants' hearts.
01:46I mean, what do you think makes this work so well when they do have opposite schedules?
01:49Well, they're both very passionate about what they do.
01:53And they each one know, like, what each one goes through on tough calls and things like that.
02:00So they're great support for each other.
02:02Because it is good to have, you know, that relationship and those talks.
02:07So, you know, with somebody who completely understands what you go through on a day-to-day basis.
02:11Exactly.
02:12Well, Terry, you sound like a very proud dad and a very proud father-in-law.
02:16And we are so thankful for Tyler and Joe and what they do for our communities as first responders.
02:21We'd love to do this.
02:21We'd love to give you $200 in Visa gift cards, $100 from our friends at Crown Buick GMC,
02:26and another $100 from the DeMesman and Dover Law Firm.
02:29Just a gift to them for us to say thank you and please pass that along for us.
02:33And thank you to you as well.
02:35Awesome.
02:35I appreciate that.
02:36Thank you very much.
02:37We appreciate you.
02:38Well, if you want to nominate someone for First Department of Friday or Military Monday,
