00:00Hello, everybody, and welcome to the race notebook from the 2025 Bahrain Grand Prix.
00:09Here we go. Oscar Piastri from Melbourne, Australia, race winner, win number four.
00:15After win number three, of course, at the Chinese Grand Prix, is now win number four
00:23and has closed to within just a few points of championship leader Lando Norris.
00:29Four points, sorry, three points indeed to within championship leader Lando Norris
00:35while Max Verstappen has dropped back.
00:37So a significant day for Oscar Piastri, number one, a significant day for McLaren, number two,
00:44because, you see, after testing, so let me tell you, if you were following us during testing
00:48and all the notebooks I did and all of that, you remember I would have said that if the Grand Prix,
00:53Bahrain Grand Prix, had happened after Bahrain testing, it would have been a McLaren one too
00:57and George Russell would have been third.
00:58Now, because of Lando's problems in qualifying, it was a McLaren one three and George Russell was second.
01:04So at least, you know, we know that testing works and when they were testing, they were showing all their pace
01:09and that Mercedes was the second quickest car today.
01:12But with Lando only third today following that mistake in qualifying,
01:16and he's just said you would have heard from him just talking to Rachel that the car's not clicking for him.
01:23That's let Oscar back in.
01:25But the significant thing is, go back to your position,
01:27so it's about to be the photo with Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Abdullah from Talakat
01:32and the board member of McLaren standing here with Randeep Singh in the middle, the sporting director.
01:40The thing is, is that this was a nervous weekend.
01:47McLaren race team, it used to be McLaren International,
01:51the McLaren racing wanted this so much for their Bahraini investors,
01:58the majority investors from Bahrain here.
02:02And they wanted it so much just to say thank you so that they could throw off the kind of the curse.
02:09Here we go, Zach and the drivers coming in.
02:12So they could throw off the curse of Bahrain.
02:16And they hadn't led many races here before.
02:19They hadn't won here before.
02:21I'm not even sure they've been on pole here before, but they did it today.
02:25And just the relief.
02:27Can you imagine?
02:27Quickest car in Formula One.
02:29You know, won two races already in the season.
02:31Got beaten by Max Verstappen at the last one.
02:34Come here thinking, you know, we have to make amends for Japan,
02:39where Max really handed it to us on a plate.
02:42And the relief of doing it.
02:44And had there been anything go wrong, you know,
02:47it would have just been the most awful thing for words, I'm sure,
02:52for Andrea Stella, Zach Brown, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
02:55So the relief of actually winning and closing it out.
02:58Now, of course, look, it would have been lovely to have a one-two,
03:01but Lando, as I say, not clicking with the car and just couldn't get past George Russell.
03:07Even George Russell with an ailing car with various bits falling off of the thing.
03:12But, yeah, a really, really great drive from Oscar Piastri.
03:16Won by 16 seconds in the end.
03:19So Lando Norris third, Oscar Piastri first, making amends for Japan.
03:23And even Oscar, the only problem Oscar had today was that there was no drink available
03:27because the pump failed.
03:29But Oscar saw off the George Russell challenge early on
03:31as Lando Norris took Pierre Gasly and Charles Leclerc off the start for P3.
03:37But then Lando got done for being too far forward in the box, a five-second penalty.
03:41He served it at the first stops when he pitted on lap 15.
03:44And then held it all together.
03:52Well done, very good.
03:53Don't know if there's going to be, there's probably not going to be a spray of champagne
03:58because of, of course, respect to the local laws, the local alcohol laws.
04:06So I don't know if they can spray some rose water.
04:07I'm sure there'll be some, some little presents a bit later on.
04:12And here we have Oscar Piastri.
04:15Hello.
04:15Well done.
04:17Fourth win and now three points behind Lando in the championship.
04:21Yes, I am three points behind.
04:24You've overturned a 23-point deficit since the Australian Grand Prix.
04:30Now just to be three points behind.
04:33Yeah, it's been a good string of races.
04:35I think, I think even Melbourne, you know, apart from one corner that didn't go very well.
04:41I was, was happy with that weekend.
04:43I've been happy with every weekend since.
04:45And, you know, I think this has been, been the best one yet.
04:48So very, very proud of what I've been able to achieve so far this year.
04:52Very proud of the, the whole team.
04:54You know, we've obviously got a great car and, and a good team behind it.
04:59Making sure we get the most out of it as well.
05:00So very, very proud.
05:02Apart from the drink not working, was it all fine today?
05:05Yeah, apart from that, it was, it was good.
05:08You know, I got, had a good start.
05:09I was able to manage the race pretty comfortably.
05:11And yeah, it was a nice gap to have at the end.
05:15A bit more hydration probably would have been good, but it's all right.
05:18Bahrain's not, not too physical.
05:21Even the safety car was perfect.
05:23Yeah, it was pretty, it was pretty much perfect.
05:26Yeah.
05:27I mean, I probably would have been happy if it didn't come out at all, but, you know, we
05:31had still another medium tire left and it was pretty much the perfect timing to put
05:36that on.
05:37So, um, that, that worked, worked very well for us.
05:40And, um, yeah, I was able to have a good last in.
05:43Good.
05:43Jeddah next.
05:44Yeah.
05:44Any thoughts?
05:46Uh, I'm looking forward to it.
05:47It's going to be a tough race.
05:48It's going to be pretty warm again, I assume.
05:50And, uh, it's a circuit that I really enjoy.
05:53So, um, yeah, hopefully we can be strong there again and, uh, yeah, have some more success.
05:58That's the plan.
05:59Well, win by 16 seconds, 15.4 actually.
06:04Um, in this Formula One, that's hats off.
06:09Thank you very much.
06:10How tight it is at the moment.
06:12That is impressive.
06:13Yeah, I was pretty happy with it.
06:14That's impressive.
06:15All right, listen, go and say well done to Tom.
06:17And I think it's the first time you've seen Tom and all your, all your mechanics.
06:19Thank you very much for sparing, uh, the time, Oscar.
06:22So, uh, yeah, I mean, that's, it's crazy when you think about it.
06:26I mean, I know George Russell was like, you know, like a sort of, uh, is like a fighter pilot in a, in a, in a, in a spitfire with various things failing.
06:35Like, I don't know, like Tom Hardy in, in Dunkirk, but, but, you know, uh, 16 seconds in this Formula's winning by 16 seconds when they've previously only been, you know, covered by, uh, a few.
06:47Oh, look, it's Alessandro Aluni Bravi.
06:49Nice to see him again.
06:51Guy with the glasses.
06:52Simon.
06:52No, no, no.
06:53You were looking at him.
06:54Guy with gray hair.
06:55Used to be at Sauber.
06:56I know.
06:57Alessandro Aluni Bravi.
06:58Now works for McLaren.
06:59Um, but, uh, yeah, it's crazy.
07:02Yeah, even, yeah, even, even considering that.
07:04Oscar kind of completely in control.
07:06Um, as for Lando, he fought with Lewis Hamilton and then chased him and got past, even though, as he said, he needed to give the place back.
07:12Um, got, uh, chased George Russell, uh, and couldn't get past, uh, sorry.
07:20Lando made heavy work, really, of racing Charles Leclerc, but finally got him around the outside after trying to get him around the outside, uh, before.
07:27Again, around the outside with Lando.
07:29I mean, I get it.
07:30If the other driver has to, um, has to, is covering the inside, then you've got to go around the outside.
07:35But, you know, Lando struggling, toiling around the outside of passing drivers gives me kind of Max Verstappen vibes of 2024.
07:43And I'm sure Lando's thinking, oh, no, I've got to go past this guy around the outside again.
07:47I'd really rather not.
07:48But, uh, but, uh, anyway, listen, he made it work.
07:51So it was, uh, it was good.
07:52It was good racing in the end.
07:53And Lando recovered, uh, for P3.
07:55But interesting what Lando's saying about he's just not clicking with the car.
07:59So something, something, something's clipping, you know, Oscar's clicking with the car.
08:03So what is it about this car?
08:04Is it the fact that, well, I think it's probably the same thing that Lando's been, not complaining about, but noting about how difficult the rear of the car is, especially on, in qualifying.
08:13Um, and Lando's been able to live, sorry, Oscar's been able to live with it.
08:17So pretty consistent messages from, from, uh, testing.
08:21And as Lando said at the beginning of the weekend, don't expect me to be on pole position because I'm still not quite where I want to be with the car.
08:28But clearly, drive it, call it driving style, call it skill, call it, uh, Oscar and his work with Tom Stallard there, uh, next to him, to his right, to our left, um, working on that qualifying performance over the winter is paying off in double time.
08:43Because, uh, yeah, he's really producing the goods in qualifying, and that is meaning that he can win races by 16 seconds, 15.8.
08:51Um, Oscar in the ascendancy I've put on.
08:54So just think about that as we go to, uh, as we go to Saudi Arabia, where the Oscar is now in the ascendancy.
09:00Lando still leads the championship, but as I said, only by three points.
09:03Uh, and Oscar's closed down a 23-point deficit, as we've already said, since the Australian Grand Prix.
09:08Right, um, I'll do Ferrari, but you can carry on looking at this because there's not much to look at a Ferrari.
09:12Uh, Lewis Hamilton fifth, uh, Charles Leclerc fourth, just not fast enough.
09:16Uh, Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were medium starters and, um, really hurt, uh, Leclerc down, uh, to the turn one and on the first lap, starting on the medium tyre when everybody else was starting on the soft.
09:28Leclerc dropped two places to P4.
09:31Lewis stayed P9, both pitted on the same lap, uh, which was lap 18, which was pretty good.
09:35And then they were quick, mysteriously, so, uh, second set of tyres was good.
09:39Leclerc got Lando Norris, uh, even though Norris got him back later.
09:42But with, on lap 26, with younger tyres, uh, Lewis Hamilton's P6 passed, uh, Antonelli.
09:47Both pitted under the safety car, which was good.
09:49That really transformed Lewis Hamilton's race.
09:52And Charles Leclerc held off Lando Norris, as I said, for a few races, as Lando toiled around the outside.
09:57But eventually Lando got him, and Charles Leclerc said, a bit frustrating when, you know, you've got a good rep, when you've got a good car.
10:02Well, you haven't, you've got not as good a car as the McLaren.
10:05But when you've had a good race, a bit frustrating then to actually only finish off the podium.
10:10But, uh, fourth is a good result for Charles Leclerc, even though he started second.
10:15But fifth is a great recovery for Lewis Hamilton, uh, you would have to say.
10:20Um, this is, uh, some photo.
10:23It is a lovely trophy, actually.
10:25I was sort of eyeballing it on the, uh, on the, on the grid.
10:28And it's got all of the past winners engraved on the side.
10:31Uh, you probably can't see, because it's got rose water on it.
10:33And then there's the, uh, the FIA President's Medal.
10:36And, uh, yeah, you don't see that, uh, very often.
10:39Looks like it's got quite a bit of heft to it, doesn't it?
10:41It's got Oscar Piastri's signature on it.
10:43Do they manage to do that?
10:44Do they print that, or is that Mohammed Ben Salim's signature?
10:46Is it the winner's signature?
10:53Is that the winner's signature?
10:55No, no, no, no.
10:55Is it the winner's signature on the FIA President's Medal?
10:58And if so, how do they manage to print that at the last...
11:01What does it say?
11:04Oh, no, it...
11:05No, it's the FIA President's signature.
11:08No wonder.
11:09Then they can print them all.
11:11100...
11:121,129th race.
11:14Thank you, Sophie.
11:15You learn something every day.
11:16Right, no, it's Mohammed Ben Salim's signature.
11:19Little details, eh?
11:20In Formula One, you never knew.
11:22It's, uh, it's actually...
11:23Yeah, of course, because it wouldn't.
11:24How would they engrave it if it was...
11:26Right.
11:27Um, sorry about that.
11:28Uh, if you've ever wondered what's on the FIA President's Medal,
11:31then it's, uh, Mohammed's, uh, signature,
11:33and whatever race it was,
11:35which they can always engrave at the beginning.
11:37Uh, but, uh, yeah.
11:38Uh, Red Bull, let's do them.
11:40Uh, then we'll probably have to take a break,
11:42uh, because I've got to get back into the pit lane.
11:45Can you see the Red Bulls?
11:46No, they're still in Parc Ferme.
11:48Are we going to make this mistake again, Simon,
11:50that we're seeing somebody in Parc Ferme,
11:52uh, under investigation?
11:54Uh, I don't think so.
11:55I can't see anybody being weighed.
11:57I can't see any weights on a scale.
11:59Uh, I can't see any, uh, worried, uh, scrutineers looking.
12:04I'm not, I'm not making this mistake again.
12:06Not after China.
12:07Um, I can't see anybody, uh, looking worried
12:11or cars not being returned.
12:14No.
12:15Okay.
12:15I think we're in the clear.
12:17Yeah.
12:17Is there anyone on there?
12:18I'll take a quick look.
12:19You stay there.
12:20Uh, no.
12:24No, there's no one there.
12:25I think we're in the clear.
12:26Good.
12:26Right.
12:26Red Bull Racing.
12:27Max Verstappen's sixth.
12:28Uh, Inspector Max.
12:29He's now taking over the inspector, uh, thing from, uh, Sebastian Vettel,
12:34seeing that, uh, that Lando Norris was too far ahead in his grid box
12:38and reported it, which, of course, the FIA already knew about.
12:42Yuki Tsunoda P9.
12:43Um, Max was asked on the formation lap, uh, do you want,
12:47or laps to the grid, uh, do you want a flap adjust?
12:49And he said, no, because the car doesn't turn already.
12:52And GP said, yes, I know, but we can make it turn more
12:54if we give you a flap adjust.
12:55And then he said, there we go, look, we've just been released.
12:57I mean, then we know nobody is, uh, no one's being, uh, investigated.
13:02GP said, well, we can do, we can do that.
13:04And then you'll have more of a front or end.
13:06And Max said, no, no, don't do that because then I'll have terminal oversteer.
13:09Then I won't make it through the corners.
13:10So before the race had even started,
13:12Max was realizing that this was a difficult car.
13:14And so it continued.
13:16No, not much pace.
13:18One place, drop one place off the start, the Verstappen,
13:20a nice opposite, nice opportunistic move that Yuki Tsunoda did
13:26up to P9, then pitted.
13:27On lap 12, um, uh, both drivers' pit stops were slow
13:31because they had a problem with their automatic, uh, pit stop, uh,
13:34light system, uh, with an electronic glitch,
13:36which they are currently in the process of, uh, throwing in the bin.
13:40But, uh, they'll sort that out.
13:41Uh, and then there was a problem on, uh, Max Verstappen's front right
13:46in his second stop.
13:47So Jonathan Wheatley leaves and the whole thing falls to pieces.
13:50So whoever's taking over that part of Jonathan Wheatley's job, um,
13:53we'll, uh, we'll need to maybe text Jonathan Wheatley and say,
13:56well, of course, he's not going to do that.
13:57He's a Salva team principal.
13:59But, um, yeah, not good.
14:00Slow stops.
14:01Max lost time behind Ocon.
14:03Yuki cleared Isaac Hadjar.
14:04Max made a second stop on lap 28, chased Pierre Gasly,
14:07and got him on the last lap.
14:08Gasly was annoyed.
14:09That was a great opportunity to final, uh, points gain
14:12for Max Verstappen, finishing sixth.
14:14Yuki Tsunoda finishing ninth.
14:15But Yuki couldn't get Esteban Ocon.
14:18I've got to tell you of a little story
14:19before we make our way to the exit and we take a break.
14:21At the end of the race,
14:22I was waiting, uh, around here for, uh, some team principals.
14:27And Raymond Vermeulen, Max's manager,
14:30came into the Red Bull garage
14:32and gave Helmut Marko what can only be described
14:35as a right piece of his mind.
14:36And then was remonstrating with Helmut Marko.
14:39Helmut Marko was just standing there, taking it.
14:41And then, whoa, hello.
14:43Uh, we're going to get out of this pit lane.
14:44And, uh, Helmut was just taking it.
14:47And then Raymond stormed off at the back of the garage,
14:50uh, sort of taking his pass off as he went.
14:52So, uh, yeah.
14:53Clearly, they are not happy.
14:55Right, things are getting busy in here.
14:56We've had the photos,
14:57so we're going to move into the pit lane,
14:58into the, uh, the paddock.
14:59More Notebook in a bit.
15:06Hiya, welcome back to the Race Notebook
15:11from the 2025 Bahrain Grand Prix.
15:13Now, I spoke too soon about all of those cars
15:16being released from Parc Fermet
15:18with no further investigations.
15:19Because as soon as I check,
15:21uh, the old, um, the old idiot tablet,
15:24uh, that I see that, um,
15:27Nika Hulkenberg has been done for plank wear
15:30a la Lewis Hamilton in China.
15:32So, uh, I'll read it out if you want to know.
15:35Um, the car number 27,
15:36uh, the plank wear of,
15:38skid wear of car number 27 was checked.
15:40The rearmost skid, that again,
15:42uh, was measured according to the team's legality documents.
15:45The recorded measurement was 8.4
15:47in the left-hand side,
15:488.5 in the centre line,
15:50and 8.4 on the right-hand side.
15:51As this is less than the nine minimum,
15:53nine millimeter minimum thickness,
15:55this is sounding exactly like Lewis Hamilton in China,
15:57as required by technical regulations.
15:59I'm referring this matter to the stewards,
16:02says Joe Bauer, the Formula One technical delegate.
16:04So Nika Hulkenberg,
16:05from an absolutely glorious finishing position of 13th,
16:09is going to be disqualified.
16:11That means that, um, everybody behind him,
16:14Isaac Hadjar, is going to move,
16:16is going to move up.
16:16But, I'll get to that in good time.
16:19We are celebrating, or Lando, uh,
16:21Oscar Piastri is celebrating a win,
16:24a McLaren win,
16:25at their second home race here in Bahrain.
16:27And, by the way,
16:28he moves up, uh,
16:30does Oscar Piastri,
16:31to joint favourite with the bookies,
16:33whereas pre-season,
16:34this seemed like a very optimistic, um, uh, bet.
16:38Oscar Piastri was only fifth
16:39behind Lando and Max
16:41and, uh, and some other drivers.
16:45Um, but, uh, yeah,
16:46Oscar now joint favourite.
16:48Right.
16:48Uh, Mercedes, AMG, Patronus,
16:51uh, Formula One team,
16:52to give them their full name,
16:52because it's right in front of me,
16:53with this rather cool garage thing.
16:56Um, George Russell second.
16:57Uh, top off, uh,
16:59he took his top off in the, uh,
17:01in the cool-down room,
17:02um,
17:03in a brilliantly George kind of way.
17:05Uh, but I like the, uh,
17:06I like the sort of podcast,
17:07the chat between them all.
17:08But a great start from George Russell.
17:10Challenged Oscar Piastri on turn one,
17:12but then got squeezed out
17:13by the McLaren driver
17:13as he, uh, held his,
17:15his third position off pole position.
17:17Uh, but George made amends
17:19for the one-place drop,
17:20which was Andrew Shuvlin's fault,
17:21by the way,
17:22uh, not chief mechanic Matt Dean.
17:24It was entirely Shuv's fault,
17:26not Matt Dean's fault at all.
17:28Uh, releasing the cars
17:30too early in qualifying
17:30into a session
17:31and getting the one step,
17:33uh, one grid place,
17:34grid penalty.
17:35But, um,
17:36Kimi Antonelli dropped two places
17:37after going wide on lap one
17:39down from P7 to P,
17:41down to P7,
17:42then he made it back to P6.
17:44Kimi pitted on lap 13,
17:45it's quite early,
17:46got past Max Verstappen
17:47then cooked his tires,
17:48dropped to P8,
17:49stopped again,
17:50and then stopped again
17:51under the safety car.
17:52And when you three stop today,
17:53it means that you don't score any points.
17:55So it was only 11th
17:56for Kimi Antonelli.
17:57That was why.
17:58Three stop didn't quite work,
18:00but he only finished
18:00four tenths of second
18:01behind Oli Behrman
18:02for the final point.
18:03So it was very close
18:04for Kimi Antonelli,
18:05but no, uh,
18:07Ciabatta today.
18:08But, uh,
18:09George Russell
18:09questioned going onto
18:11the soft tyre
18:11at the safety car,
18:12took advantage of the safety car,
18:14but it was the,
18:15absolutely the right decision.
18:16And he powered through
18:18with an a-link car
18:19with various things,
18:20uh, not working,
18:21uh, to a very creditable P2
18:24and back on the podium.
18:26And, um, yeah,
18:27it was, uh,
18:28a great drive
18:29from George Russell.
18:30Uh, right,
18:30Aston Martin,
18:31not, you could,
18:32not the,
18:33a great drive,
18:34well, probably a great drive,
18:35but you'd never know
18:35because the car
18:36in testing
18:37was the ninth or tenth
18:39quickest
18:39or rather slowest car.
18:41And low,
18:42you come back
18:42at the circuit
18:43a few weeks later
18:44and it's still
18:45the slowest car
18:46or one of the slowest cars.
18:47Um, because Lance Stroll
18:49was 18th today
18:50and Fernando Alonso 16th.
18:52Fernando is a medium starter.
18:54Lance was a soft starter.
18:55Lance pitted first,
18:57both pitted again
18:57under the safety car
18:58and, um, yeah,
19:00first, actually,
19:01by the way,
19:01it was first safety car
19:02since Melbourne,
19:03which was interesting.
19:04Not much pace
19:04on either tyre.
19:05Uh, Fernando finished
19:07two seconds
19:07behind Jack Doohan.
19:09Lance Stroll
19:09will at least beat
19:10Gabriel Portoletto.
19:11But, um,
19:12well, that's it.
19:14That is it.
19:15Uh, and it was only
19:1616th and 18th.
19:18But nice that, uh,
19:19Fernando Alonso,
19:20uh, as one of the,
19:21uh, uh,
19:22world champions
19:23signed Jackie Stewart's,
19:25uh, crash helmet,
19:26uh, for that great run
19:28in the Tyrell.
19:2985-year-old Sir Jackie Stewart
19:31driving that Tyrell around.
19:32A bit frustrating,
19:33I guess, for him
19:34that it was behind
19:34his safety car,
19:35but it was absolutely fantastic.
19:36If you didn't know about it,
19:37then read all about it
19:38on our social channels,
19:40uh, with all of the
19:41world champions
19:42who signed the crash helmet.
19:44Right, Alpine.
19:45Hooray!
19:46They are off the mark.
19:47Simon, come on.
19:47Get a trot on.
19:49Uh, we've got to go down
19:49to Alpine
19:50because we need to see
19:51some, some happy people
19:52down here.
19:52And they deserve it
19:53because not only are they
19:54off the mark points-wise,
19:55but they are also suddenly
19:56up to P9.
19:58They've overtaken, uh,
19:59Sauber on, uh, points,
20:01uh, places
20:02because Gasly was P7 today.
20:04Woohoo!
20:05Gasly quite early,
20:07uh, was quick early on.
20:08Jack Doohan pitted
20:09on lap 10.
20:10Gasly unpitted on lap 11.
20:12Early stops worked well
20:13initially.
20:13Jack Doohan ran P9
20:14with Gasly P5.
20:15They had the pace early,
20:17they had the pace
20:17on the Williams,
20:18which is pretty much
20:19what we saw in the test.
20:20Um, and, uh,
20:22Gasly stayed out
20:23at the safety car
20:24on the hard tyre
20:25because he only just
20:25put it on.
20:26That was also
20:26the right decision.
20:28And, uh,
20:28there is the Gasman,
20:29uh, just with his
20:30back towards us.
20:31You can see his logo
20:32on his hat.
20:32That's how you know
20:33it's him.
20:33And there is
20:34Jack Doohan as well.
20:35And go on then,
20:36go up, go up there.
20:37Crash, gate crash this.
20:38They've just scored
20:38a load of points.
20:39Um, uh, and, uh,
20:41yeah, uh,
20:43not really much
20:44more to say.
20:45They were, uh,
20:46Gas was annoyed
20:47to get done
20:47by Max Verstappen
20:48at the end.
20:49He would have finished
20:49P6, an honourable P6.
20:52Uh, he deserved P6,
20:53but it ended up
20:53as P7.
20:54I probably won't say
20:55that too loudly.
20:56But, uh, yeah,
20:56very good stuff.
20:58Uh, straight into P9
20:59in the constructors
21:00and a relief
21:01for everybody
21:02in this Alpine team.
21:04And surely
21:04Jack Doohan's
21:05points, first points,
21:06he was only,
21:07he was 15th today,
21:08but surely his first points
21:09are coming soon
21:10now that they've got
21:11that points, uh,
21:12drought out of the way.
21:14No, no,
21:17no points drought
21:17for Haas.
21:18Well, there was
21:19at the last race,
21:20but they are back,
21:21uh, in the points.
21:23And another great result
21:24for Esteban Ocon,
21:25eighth today.
21:27Oli Behrmann,
21:28tenth.
21:28So always great
21:28when the team
21:29can score points
21:30with both cars.
21:31And that puts Haas
21:32past Williams
21:33for P5
21:34in the constructors.
21:36So Williams
21:36didn't score any points
21:37today and has scored
21:38a massive handful.
21:39So well done to them.
21:40Um, and Oli Behrmann
21:41up five places
21:43from last on the grid.
21:44Esteban Ocon
21:44pitted on lap nine,
21:46kept his tyres
21:46in great condition.
21:48He was running P6.
21:49Ocon stayed out
21:50the safety car,
21:51uh, having pitted
21:51just before.
21:52Oli Behrmann closed up,
21:54ran P10.
21:54Ocon was P8
21:55on old tyres,
21:56very old tyres,
21:57actually.
21:57Uh, Esteban Ocon
21:58finished with 30
22:00lap old hards.
22:01Uh, and that was
22:02a great strategy.
22:03Oli Behrmann,
22:04very good too,
22:05and, uh,
22:05scored a point for P10.
22:06And his dad came
22:07on the radio
22:08slightly randomly.
22:08I don't know his dad
22:09had, uh, radio privileges,
22:11transmit privileges,
22:12um, but came on his radio
22:13and said,
22:14well done, son.
22:14He said, oh, thanks, dad.
22:15I think inherent in Oli's
22:16response was,
22:17what are you doing
22:18on the radio, par?
22:19But, uh, anyway,
22:20that was nice, I suppose.
22:21Racing Bulls,
22:22what a horrendous weekend
22:23for them
22:23and a horrendous race.
22:25Liam Lawson,
22:25chaotic and, uh, and, and, and,
22:31and incident prone
22:32and got 15 seconds
22:34full of penalties.
22:35Bad start for Hadjar.
22:36Isaac Hadjar finished 14th.
22:38Liam Lawson finished 17th.
22:39Bad start for Hadjar,
22:40down four places to P16.
22:42Pissed on lap six.
22:43The tyres just didn't last.
22:44They degraded.
22:45The car was slow.
22:46Liam was P19.
22:48Isaac P14.
22:49Had a track limits warning.
22:50Dropped to P19
22:51after the second stop.
22:52Liam, I can't overtake.
22:54Lawson tapped Lance Stroll
22:55and got a five-second penalty
22:56and then got a 10-second penalty
22:58on top of that.
22:59And when your car is slow,
23:01what you don't want to be doing
23:01is picking up 15 seconds
23:03of race time
23:03lost on penalties.
23:05Uh, so one to learn
23:06from Liam Lawson
23:07because that was an ouch,
23:09horrendous,
23:10we end to a horrendous weekend.
23:12And it could have been
23:12so much more for Racing Bulls.
23:14Could have been so much more
23:15for Williams.
23:16Alex Albon, 12th.
23:17Sainz was a DNF.
23:19In fact, only DNF
23:21of the race
23:21even though Niko Halkenberg
23:22is about to get disqualified.
23:24Um, so Sainz up to P6
23:26off the start.
23:27Uh, up two places.
23:29Alex Albon also up two places.
23:31Uh, to, uh, lap...
23:33on lap one.
23:35Um, Sainz fought
23:36with Lewis Hamilton.
23:37Sainz pitted later than Yuki
23:39and passed him
23:40but lost a bit of his front wing.
23:42Then Sainz got a 10-second penalty
23:43for forcing Antonelli off.
23:45Served it
23:45but got a hole in the side pod
23:47after Yuki hit him.
23:48So, it was a bit frustrated about it.
23:51Retired on lap 47.
23:52Alex Albon chased
23:53Kimi Antonelli
23:54and Oli Behrman
23:55but didn't manage
23:56to get them at the end.
23:57Uh, but...
23:58and won't move up
23:59with any of the, uh,
24:00disqualification of Halkenberg.
24:01So, let's finally do
24:02Niko Halkenberg.
24:03Do they know
24:04that he's about
24:04to get disqualified?
24:05No, I don't think they do.
24:06Well, maybe they do.
24:07Uh, but, uh,
24:08they don't look too, um,
24:10upset about it
24:11because it's not as if
24:11they were going to.
24:12There's the team manager,
24:13Beate Zender, on the phone.
24:14Uh, but Halkenberg finished 13th
24:16but is about to get disqualified.
24:18Gabriel Bortoletto
24:18finished 19th
24:19but isn't about
24:20to get disqualified.
24:21Terrible start for both.
24:22Down to 19th and 20th
24:23off the start.
24:24Halkenberg pitted on lap 6.
24:26Gabriel Bortoletto
24:26pitted on the safety car
24:27but Halk stayed out.
24:2830 old lap tyres.
24:29Maybe they could argue
24:30something about the safety car
24:31but I don't think
24:31it's going to work.
24:32And Gabriel Bortoletto
24:33finished last.
24:34Right, that is it.
