00:00All right, so there's this massive debate brewing, and I'd say this is going to drive you crazy, but there's something really to it.
00:06But there's a massive debate between the responses, no problem, and you're welcome.
00:12Okay, no problem, and you're welcome.
00:13You're welcome, one of the most innocent statements ever, right?
00:16There's a song.
00:17You're welcome for the tides, the sun, the sky.
00:21Once again, if you're a parent, this is embedded in your brain for, I don't know, maybe the rest of your entire life.
00:26But it's a happy song.
00:27Well, so that's, you're welcome, but this guy on the news, he broke this down to when it's appropriate to say no problem and when it's appropriate to say you're welcome.
00:38Think about how many runs you have with people all through the course of the day, right?
00:41And they're like, no problem, or they're like, you're welcome.
00:44Listen to this.
00:44Only say no problem when there is a reasonable expectation that the task you are performing might be problematic.
00:52Thank you for lending me $10,000 to stop the bank from foreclosing on my house.
00:58No problem.
00:59That's what no problem is for.
01:01But if you work in a donut shop and a customer thanks you for selling him a coffee, don't say no problem.
01:07He's paying for the coffee.
01:09Just say, you're welcome.
01:11Try it.
01:12You're welcome.
01:13Is that so burdensome?
01:14Gosh, this is like a mind trip right now.
01:17And I wonder how many times a day I do this.
01:19Like, I wonder.
01:20Oh, yeah.
01:21I bet I say no problem when I should say you're welcome and vice versa.
01:25I definitely do.
01:26And then I think about all the interactions we have with people where I say thank you and I get no problem all the time.
01:31There's a woman who comes in and she grabs the logs every day and we say, oh, thanks.
01:35And she goes, no problem.
01:37Every day.
01:38But that's her job?
01:39But that's her job.
01:40She's getting paid to do it.
01:42Buck films a lot of our videos, all of our videos.
01:44And I've met a lot of people tell you.
01:46All the time.
01:47They say it to you because you have a lot of, like, work and equipment and everything.
01:51They say thanks.
01:51I say, no problem.
01:52It wasn't a problem.
01:54It's not a problem.
01:55But all the cameras and stuff could be problematic.
01:57You know what I mean?
01:58It could cause.
01:59You could.
01:59Yeah.
02:00So it's a lot of work to lug in all the cameras and stuff.
02:02He is being paid for it.
02:04Kevin, you're a no problem guy.
02:05I do it so much.
02:07All the time.
02:07I know.
02:07And I told, it was funny because I was thinking about this yesterday.
02:10And I do this to my wife all the time.
02:12She goes, hey, thanks for taking out the trash.
02:14I'll go, no problem.
02:15But it's not a problem because I don't mind doing it.
02:18You know what I mean?
02:18So I don't think it's a bad response.
02:20But yes, I am horrible at saying it.
02:22What if you switch it up and you say, if someone says, oh, thanks for doing that.
02:25And you said, that's fine.
02:27I mean, it was a problem, but fine.
02:29Like, you know what I am?
02:30I'm an all good guy.
02:32I go, all good.
02:33It's fine.
02:33It's all good.
02:34All good.
02:34Why does that sound passive aggressive?
02:37You know what I mean?
02:37Because when you say that, it kind of sounds like stuff is not all good.
02:41You're right, you're right.
02:42And now I'm like, wait a second.
02:43What happened?
02:44Yeah.
02:44Do you notice I say all good a lot?
02:47Yeah.
02:47Yeah, I do.
02:48Jeez.
02:49All good.
02:49I knew it.
02:50Yeah.
02:50I knew it.
02:51I felt like I did and I knew it.
02:53When I listen to you, yeah, I guess I notice.
02:57It's all good, Melanie.
02:58You're welcome.
03:00You're welcome.
03:01Do you really care, though?
03:02No, I mean, I don't want people to feel.
03:06Yeah, but I do see why.
03:07So I've been I was somewhere recently and somebody was checking out and they messed everything
03:11up and they said, I'm sorry for the wait.
03:14And I said, it's no problem.
03:17And then the guy looked at me behind me and he goes, speak for yourself.
03:21And I went.
03:22So he thought I was is no problem for me, but it was a problem for him.
03:26Oh, right.
03:27Because their computers had broken down or something like that.
03:29And he goes, speak for yourself.
03:30And I was like, and then I turned around, I went, but I was like, how would I know if
03:35it was a problem?
03:36You know what I mean?
03:36Like, I didn't have said you're welcome in that scenario because then the cashier would
03:40have thought you were a jerk.
03:42Like, right.
03:42You're welcome.
03:43Like, I guess knowing what I knew, I should have said, hey, it's fine for me, but this
03:46guy behind me is really mad.
03:48So, you know, it's no problem for me.
03:49But this other guy, he's really ticked off.
03:51But you just don't know what to say.
03:53Sometimes it is weird when someone goes, no problem.
03:55And you say, well, yeah, I mean, it should have never been a problem.
03:58It should have never been a problem.
03:58Right.
03:59Why was it ever a problem?
04:00I think that's why you got to go the Chick-fil-A route and just start saying my pleasure.
04:03That's why they do that.
04:04That's why they do that.
04:06They just say my pleasure.
04:07I mean, how could you ever twist that?
04:09Now, would that be weird, though, in the workplace if, you know, the lady comes in to get the
04:13log and we go, oh, thanks.
04:15And she goes, my pleasure.
04:16My pleasure.
04:18Well, she doesn't have to say it like that.
04:20Yeah, that's a documentary on Friday nights at 10 o'clock.
04:26That's an HR report.
04:27I don't know what that is.
04:29Yeah, it's funny.
04:29I wonder.
04:30I'd love to know the backstory on how Chick-fil-A came up with, you know, they must have researched
04:33it and done so.
04:34You don't come up with that.
04:35But I bet it was because of this.
04:37I bet that the owners realized that people said, oh, no problem.
04:41When you they give you your sauce packets and go, no problem.
04:44And they go, wait a second.
04:45It's not a problem.
04:46I had this business idea once for about 10 minutes until I told my buddies.
04:49I was like, I'm going to open a chicken restaurant with the best chicken sandwich right next to
04:53Chick-fil-A, but it's going to be called My Pleasures.
04:55We're just going to sell chicken sandwiches.
04:57That sounds like a strip club, not a chicken joint.
04:59Yeah, I'm not going.
05:00This was a chicken joint and it was My Pleasures.
05:02Well, no wonder we were so disappointed on Saturday when we showed up there.
05:06Oh, by the way, we're open Sunday.
05:08My Pleasures.
05:09Just to tell you what's up around here.
05:11Now you're on to something.
05:13Because it is our pleasure to serve you on Sunday.
05:16There you go.
05:16I'll let you know.
05:18All right, that's a thank you.
05:19That's my, you're welcome.
05:21But here's the thing, it's going to drive you crazy all day today when someone says no
05:23problem because you're going to be like, oh, I should have never really been one.
05:26You know what I'm saying?
05:26Right, right.
05:27It's 99.5 QIK.
