00:00Geek Culture Congress here from the floor here at Tampa Bay Comic Con here with Gilbert Del Tres, right?
00:05I got that name right, right?
00:06You see, I get people's names right now.
00:10From Headshot Comics and they're here on the floor here at Tampa Bay Comic Con 2019.
00:16I'm here to talk with you about your projects, your new books and everything you're working on at Headshot Comics.
00:22And that's your company, right?
00:24That's my company.
00:24All right, cool. So tell me a little bit about some of the stories that you have going on right now.
00:31So you have Galactic Rodents of Mayhem, which is interesting.
00:35Then you have Lair.
00:36Yes, sir.
00:37Excuse me. And then you have Pistolera.
00:40Yes.
00:40All right, so let's start with the first one.
00:42Give me the rundown or the cliff notes or the 30-second pitch for Galactic Rodents of Mayhem.
00:50In a nutshell, Galactic Rodents of Mayhem in a 30-second pitch could be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, you know, mashed up with Star Wars.
00:59Okay.
00:59Pretty much.
01:00I grew up with Ninja Turtles and I kind of wanted to bring an anthropomorphic tail out.
01:05So I figured rodents but capybars.
01:07If you guys don't know much about capybars, they're the most peaceful animal out there that get along with crocodiles.
01:13Turtles, ant-eaters, birds, capybars.
01:19You need to Google it.
01:20I didn't know much about it.
01:21My artist suggested, hey, you know, we want to do something like Ninja Turtles, but like sci-fi, Star Wars.
01:26And he's like, I'm like, what animals?
01:28Should we do geckos?
01:29And he's like, let's do capybars.
01:30I Googled them and I fell in love instantly.
01:33Wow.
01:33Yeah, they're awesome animals.
01:34So that's a lot of inspiration of Galactic Rodents of Mayhem.
01:36Do people have them as pets?
01:38It's illegal in South America to have them as pets.
01:41Really?
01:41They came from South America.
01:42There's a little print up here, Galactic Rodents of Mayhem.
01:45We're going to have our campaign go live on Indiegogo August 19th.
01:50It's going to be a 100-page graphic novel.
01:52Oh, right.
01:52We're trying to fund the artwork.
01:53Okay.
01:54And hopefully we can make it happen for that one.
01:57Wonderful.
01:58Wonderful.
01:58So what you have available here at Comic-Con is Lair.
02:03Was that one of your first projects?
02:04So, yes, indeed.
02:05Lair was one of my first crowdfunded complete Kickstarter graphic novels I was able to do.
02:10Also funded on Indiegogo as well.
02:12Pretty much Tales from the Crypt, Twilight Zone, Nash Up.
02:16It's a one-shot deal.
02:17Where do demons go before they possess them?
02:19Oh, that's right.
02:20I don't know if anyone's into demon possession stories.
02:22I always wondered where they go.
02:23Well, Lair is the place where demons go before they possess a human being.
02:26The story revolves around an undercover cop who somehow finds his way, trapped in this demonic
02:32convention with no way out.
02:34Wow.
02:35If you find a way out, we'll see.
02:36I also put a little spirit message in there.
02:38So it's just kind of oxymoronic.
02:40The spiritual message of art doesn't go together, but I try to find a way to do that.
02:44And tell me more about Bistolena.
02:47All right.
02:48So Bistolena is pretty much my love letter to the Western.
02:51I always wanted to write a Western.
02:53I love Western stories.
02:55Tarantino is a major influence on me.
02:57Clint Eastwood as well.
02:58Some of his love best for the new movies.
03:00And I figured what better way to do a story than do something that hasn't been done in the
03:04Western?
03:04I've never seen a pregnant gunslinger.
03:06So that was the inspiration behind creating Bistolena.
03:09She came to life.
03:10We crowdfunded this on Kickstarter.
03:12She brought it to Indiegogo.
03:14And it's pretty much her tale.
03:15She's on a endeavor against a sheriff who killed her parents and violated her.
03:20Oh, wow.
03:21Dark stuff, but awesome stuff.
03:2230 page, one shot.
03:24Dark stuff, yeah.
03:25All right.
03:26So if anybody wants to get Lair or Bistolena or help you out on the crowdfunding Kickstarter
03:32or whatever you're going to do for Galactic Rodents of Man, what can they do when they
03:37go work and they follow you?
03:38Yes, sir.
03:38If you want, you can follow me on Twitter with hashtag GilbertDelTrez.
03:45Get a little zoom there if you can't see it.
03:47Hopefully you can't deal with DelTrez.
03:49I'll be blasting the campaign for Galactic Rodents of Man, have money comes out.
03:54If you want a copy of Lair or Bistolena, DM me, follow me, and we can definitely make it
04:00happen.
04:00All right.
04:00Awesome, man.
04:01So, more from Tampa Bay Comic Con.
