00:00April 3rd, 2016 was extremely special for West Indies cricket at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
00:23First, the ladies in Maroon took care of Australia in their T20 final by 8 wickets to lift the trophy.
00:29And then the men defeated England by 4 wickets in a humdinger.
00:33With 19 required of the final over, Carlos Brathwaite hit Ben Stokes for 4 sixes in a row.
00:39Marissa Aguilera, who was a part of the women's team that won the title, witnessed Brathwaite's heroics in that match.
00:46I remember sitting next to his wife and she was saying,
00:50Oh my gosh, I don't know if this is going to happen. And she covered her face.
00:54And I was like, just relax, you know, everything going to be okay.
00:57And it's something I felt within my guts because I believe that based on what we have been doing as a Caribbean, the under 19s, you know, they won.
01:08We were in South Africa. We came into India feeling that, you know, that, that, that eagerness to do well for the people of the Caribbean.
01:17And, you know, I just felt that something good would have happened. I mean, it was no way close to winning.
01:23We was no way close to winning. And, you know, just out of the blues, you know, it just happened.
01:26So, I mean, we, we were, we were really, it was, it was amazing. It was very amazing.
01:30After the win, Aguilera and her colleagues also wanted to be a part of the celebrations.
01:35After all, it was a double treat for the people of the Caribbean.
01:38We left, the entire team left. I think security officers was following us down the stairs because we were just running crazy,
01:45you know, trying to get to the ground in order to, you know, celebrate with the guys and so on.
01:50We just wanted to get on the field. So, you know, that's, that's what's our main focus at that point in time.
01:55Can the Windies bring home the trophy for a third time?
01:58Aguilera just wants to wish the men in Maroon all the best in 2026.
02:02It's a damper in spirit when it comes to Westernese cricket.
02:06And I understand what is happening to the people of the Caribbean.
02:09They want to see Westernese do well. But all I can say, just continue to have the faith.
02:13I know Sami and his team, you know, they will try their best.
02:16And that's all we are asking from them to just go out there, try their best and continue to fly the Black High.
02:21The Windies are grouped alongside Bangladesh, England, Italy and Nepal.
02:26They're not the only Chiefs export.
02:29Where is he?
02:30Oh, he did to the right side. Oh, West Indies right now.
02:35He is.
02:36He is.
02:37Oh, he has the right side.
02:38He is.
02:39He is.
02:40He is.
02:41He is.
02:42He is.
02:43He is.
02:44He is.
02:45He is.
02:46He is.
