00:00the Dallas Cowboys are always a lightning rod in sports because sometimes they have so much money
00:05they just don't spend it correctly and understand when to pull the trigger and sign a player that
00:11they feel is a franchise guy. Dak Prescott went years and years and years franchise tags now it
00:15costs more than any other player in football at the quarterback position which is wild on a year
00:19to year basis where they constantly have to restructure and kick the can down the road
00:23as opposed to signing him sooner than later if you recognize he's a franchise guy. You know it
00:27also hurts when you have a wide receiver that resets the market with C.D. Lamb and is up top
00:32of that payroll and then you say to yourself well non-quarterback non-offensive player defensive
00:37end we're going to pay this guy more than any other player in NFL history non-quarterback.
00:42Who is that? That's Michael Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys. Mark we have a clip here from
00:46Jerry Jones talking about how he plans to go about signing Michael Parsons. You should be
00:51worrying about your ability to make it work and you should be worried about what the player does.
00:59Does he have good enough health? Does he have enough skill to do what you're paying him the
01:04money for? The agent is not a factor here or something to worry about and I don't know his name
01:15and so my point is that I'm not trying to demean him in any way but this isn't about an agent.
01:22The agent doesn't have one thing to do with what we're doing when we get on the football field
01:30against a team. Micah does to the degree I'm involved I do. The people that have something to
01:38do with what we do going forward relative to our fans and football are me and the player not the
01:46agent and I'm not demeaning the agent I'm just saying anybody can do this and that's taught
01:53directly to a player and frankly frankly most people that negotiate me will tell you that
02:02they were better off than negotiating with
02:09anybody else even or anybody involved so this is not uncommon. I have an issue directly with
02:18as far back as Emmett, Dion and we by the way maintain a relationship that lasted well after
02:28their playing days. Yeah Jerry's not making any sense here at this point Mark let me start with
02:33this question like let's talk about from real life most people aren't professional athletes
02:36that's like Jerry going like well you get a real estate agent to buy a house he has nothing to do
02:41with the purchase of that house you're gonna live in that house the agents what is he talking about
02:45here Mark your agent is designed to get you the best deal possible in legal terms so the team
02:51isn't able to say oh you didn't read that fine print on page number three for year number two
02:54where you don't get paid if you miss one practice what's he talking about Mark help me out here.
02:58Yeah well I mean that's kind of the point even if in a certain perfect world Micah Parsons and
03:04Jerry Jones agree on six years 150 million there's so much more fine print that goes into an NFL
03:11contract including how it's structured including when bonuses are set including how much money
03:16goes against the cap that Jerry doesn't ever have a part in because he has guys on his staff
03:22who do all that work for him right and that's what he's paying people for I don't think Jerry
03:26is sitting there breaking down how percentages of the cap are going to go year over year
03:31and keeping track of all this stuff because well at this point as you said it looked like he can't
03:35complete a coherent thought in a sentence beyond two sentences so yeah I don't know how much this
03:42is true how excuse me this is going to go down without agents being involved but we've seen
03:48agents not get involved before it never usually goes well for the player
