00:00The border is back home for me.
00:01They are closed.
00:02I cannot travel back home.
00:04So if they were to deport me,
00:06I don't know where I would go.
00:08They're wanting us to leave the country and go back home,
00:10but they still want us to pay our tuition
00:13and still want us to pay for online classes.
00:16Am I going to have to go back to a country
00:18that I don't even live in,
00:19that I don't have a place to go to?
00:30Given the whole pandemic
00:44and having to travel long hours,
00:47risking infections,
00:48risking infecting my parents,
00:50I would be studying at like midnight or like 1 a.m.
00:55And I don't know how all of that was going to work.
00:57And then I feel like my whole future is uncertain now.
01:02We as international students,
01:03we pay the most tuition here.
01:06We bring diversity to the college campuses.
01:09We do so much for the U.S.
01:11and this is just like telling us to leave.
01:15It's like, get out of our country.
01:17That's what it's saying.
01:18And it seems racist to me.
01:21This law is just,
01:23it's an utter disgrace to society.
01:26It's an actual embarrassment to the U.S.
01:29So I'm actually originally from Mexico,
01:32but I moved to the United States
01:33when I was two years old.
01:35And I'm not used to the visa, the F1,
01:39because I used to be on an E2 visa.
01:40That's a working visa that my dad had.
01:42So I'm over here so stressed out.
01:44I'm like, what do I do?
01:46I think it's a very conscious effort
01:48to try to make the U.S. less friendly
01:51to international students.
01:52And I also think that it is intentionally meant
01:55to try to encourage,
01:59force even universities
02:01to keep doing in-person classes,
02:03even if they would think
02:05that it's safer to be teaching online
02:08in the coming year.
02:17We have to open our schools,
02:20open our schools.
02:22Stop this nonsense.
02:33The more hurdles you put in front of people
02:36who want to come to the U.S. and want to study
02:39and who bring a ton to the country,
02:43the fewer students who are going to be willing
02:46to do that in the future.
02:47I mean, most people probably know
02:49that a very large fraction
02:50of Silicon Valley startups
02:52are founded by immigrants.
02:55There are a lot of fields
02:57in the STEM areas
02:59that at the graduate level
03:00are made up mostly of international students
03:03and that would just be decimated as fields.
03:20I feel like they're really honestly
03:22just used to get money out of them
03:24because of the overpriced prices
03:27that we have to pay.
03:28And I'm here because I want to
03:32have a better career,
03:33have a better future.
03:34And I'm here for better opportunities,
03:37not to like take away jobs from other people
03:40or put other people on harm
03:42or anything like that.
03:43And they say America is a free country.
03:45So where is the free country?
03:47So where is the freedom there?
