During a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, President Donald Trump clarified policy about Chinese international students and whether or not they would have their visas accepted.

00:00There is no, Mr. President, in May, Secretary Rubio said that they were aggressively removing
00:05visas of Chinese students. Yesterday, you said you wanted to allow 600,000 Chinese students
00:12to study in the United States. Could you and the Secretary clarify what is the policy on
00:16Chinese students in the United States? Well, we think we're, you know, look,
00:21we're getting along very well with China, and I'm getting along very well with President Xi.
00:26I think it's very insulting to say your students can't come here because they'll go out and
00:31start building schools and they'll be able to survive it. But I like that their students
00:36come here. I like that other country students come here. And you know what would happen if
00:41they didn't? Our college system would go to hell very quickly. You'd have, and it wouldn't
00:46be the top colleges. It would be colleges that struggle on the bottom. And you take out 300,000
00:53or 600,000 students out of the system. I like having, and I told this to President Xi,
00:59that we're honored to have their students here. Now, with that, we check and we're careful and we
01:04see who's there. And Marco wants that. We spoke. We're in the same position. But we have a tremendous
01:10college system, the best in the world. Nobody even close. That's why China sends them here.
01:14And you can call it an industry if you want. But you're talking about millions of people.
01:21And I'm honored to have the students from China come here. And they're, we're just getting along
01:27very well with China. And it's a different relationship than we had for years where
01:32they took hundreds of billions of dollars, just sucked it right out of our country.
01:37They respect us again. I respect them. The relationship is very good. I think it's important
01:43that when these are two very major powers, nuclear powers at that, but two very important powers.
01:49You know, when I get along with Putin, when I get along with President Xi, when I get along
01:53with these people, that's a good thing, not a bad thing. We're tough and we're smart and
01:58we're strong. We get along. It's a lot better than not getting along. You had somebody in here
02:02before. The war should have never started with Ukraine and Russia. It would have never
02:07started. And Putin said that himself. President Putin said that himself. So we want to see
02:13college students come in from countries. There are some countries that we, we can't necessarily
02:19say that. These are places that have ideologies that we can't live with. So there are some areas,
02:26some countries that we can't say that. But we're honored to have the students come here.
02:29Please, please.
