00:00Jockey's mental health has been a much-discussed topic this year, and in this week's Saratoga Minute,

00:04our Katie Petruniak attended a Jockey's Mental Welfare Summit at Saratoga.

00:19So we have this event here at the museum today, and thank you to the museum to allow us to do this in the museum.

00:26An event that, you know, we'll talk about mental health for jockeys, and not only the jockeys and

00:31their families, jockeys will also open the doors for the rest of the industry. It's about, you know,

00:38jockey health, mental health, if you will, and talking about, you know, things that all the frustrations

00:44and ups and downs that jockeys and their families go through. Obviously, you know, depression hits

00:50everybody, but when you're in a business that we are in, the pressure is so much about making,

00:58just making enough money to, you know, to pay your rent. Not all roses like all the top jockeys, and

01:04I'm one of those, one of the blessed ones that have been very blessed to be here for this many years

01:09and have the kind of career that I have, but we all go through the same pressure, we all go

01:14through the same thing. I'm the blessed one who, with all my injuries and everything, still here

01:19riding and trying to help the less fortunate, and hopefully this today kind of really hits

01:28to people and the awareness, you know, that we got to do more for the jockeys.
