00:00The back-to-back winner of the four-star, Dave Deterministic, wins it easily.
00:07All the grade one races are so exciting. It's really hard to pick a favorite, but
00:11I think I scared my kids at home screaming at the TV so loud. I didn't understand why I was
00:17so excited.
00:20This is Hinkle Farms. We're outside of Paris in Bourbon County, Kentucky.
00:26The land has been in our family since the mid-1920s. My father and Henry's father
00:33bought two broodmares in the mid-1960s, and that's how we got started in the horse business.
00:41I think within the last 15 years, I'm really proud of how we've built our broodmare band
00:50and getting grade one horses.
00:52The Deterministic's dam is a Spicetown mare named Julio's Jewel. Her foals, with the
00:58exception of Deterministic, were not what I would call great sales yearlings, but Deterministic
01:06was just so much different than the others.
01:09Deterministic was the most gorgeous yearling, and he was easily everyone's favorite cult that
01:17year. Kristoff and Miguel have always described him as, he walks like a cat, and he really
01:24always walked like a cat here on the farm as well.
01:28There's a reason he bought the highest price of any Liam's map of his crop. Monique Delk
01:36recognized what a special horse he was, and bought him for Mr. Viola and his friends, and
01:41you know, the rest is history.
01:43He was a TDN Rising Star in his first start at Saratoga, and he came from out of the clouds.
01:51In September of his three-year-old year, during the September sale, Kristoff Clamont stopped
01:57by to see us at our barn at Keeneland, and he said, Deterministic is a very good horse.
02:05And he said, I will win a grade one with him.
02:12I get nervous about any race from a horse we've bred. I feel like my heart starts racing.
02:17Sort of like a proud father, you know, when you see one of the horses who was bred and
02:22raised here do well. We usually have a text chain going, and big races we'll call each other.
02:30This year, we'll all be together at the Breeders' Cup, so hopefully we'll have a reason to celebrate together.
02:40We bred More Than Looks, who won the Breeders' Cup mile in 2024, and that was our first Breeders' Cup
02:48winner.
02:49I think winning a Breeders' Cup race is the ultimate achievement for a breeder, and hope it's just the first
02:57of more to come.
02:59He's a really good horse. If he gets there, it'll be tremendous competition, and there'll be great horses coming from
03:07Europe,
03:08but I certainly believe he'll give a good account of himself.
03:11We've bred some nice horses, but I think we're all in agreement that he's the best horse that we've ever
03:17bred.
03:18.
03:18.
