00:00Phil Bauer and Rigney Racing celebrated an unforgettable Kentucky Derby weekend when
00:08their filly played hard, defeated Secret Oath, and the Grade 1 La Troyenne.
00:12This weekend, the daughter of Entomischief will go head-to-head with Secret Oath once
00:16again in the Grade 1 Ogden Fiffs.
00:19Here Bauer tells us more about his stable star and a few other recent Rigney Racing
00:23winners.
00:26Played hard.
00:28We purchased her at the September yearling sale and she was one that you immediately
00:34fell in love with.
00:35It was such a special day.
00:37The La Troyenne was, I guess, a dream come true.
00:41You know, Johnny wrote her great and when Secret Oath came to her at the eighth pole,
00:46you could tell it was going to take a lot to get by the way she was digging in.
00:51We were upstairs so we were unaware that there was a jockey's objection because we were stuck
00:56in an elevator and we came out and it was a little confusion at first like what's going
01:01on and by that time I think it was pretty much already decided that it would be no change
01:07and the celebration began.
01:10She bounced out of the race doing great.
01:13We originally thought, well, let's just come back on the floor to Lee.
01:16At the end of the Churchill meet and, you know, the Ogden Fifths, we kept an eye on
01:22it and the fact that she's got the grade one, we felt like the big picture, if we can win
01:31or be extremely competitive in it, it's only going to help her credentials.
01:36We're confident she'll take her game with her.
01:39Kedra, she was a relief for me.
01:43We felt so confident going into the Breeders' Cup last year and to run as bad as she did
01:49was just a hard pill to swallow.
01:52She came back much more mature physically and mentally and we were anxious to get our
01:59start in her and hoping that she would return to form.
02:02So when she did, it was just like a sigh of relief.
02:07Warrior Johnny ran Sunday very similar to horse that's got, you know, a lot of ability
02:12and he's gotten stronger and hopefully another one that just, you know, being a gelding,
02:19hopefully he's around for many years.
02:22It's just so satisfying and very, very happy for the Wrigley's for what they've put in
02:29the game.
02:30It's long overdue and hopefully many more to come.
02:35We started in the fall of 2013.
02:39We hit some rough years early on trying to find our stride and how the program wanted
02:45to work.
02:46So I'm very fortunate and blessed that they stuck with me.
02:52Played hard, the name came from their model of life is if you lived well, you played hard
02:58and they enjoy life.
03:02At the same time, they made everyone's lives around them better.
03:06They're very important people in our lives and he's one of my best friends.
03:12I don't know if I'll ever be able to top the feeling of our first grade one being at home
03:18and with the cast that Richard had present at the races, obviously win a grade one at
03:25Belmont on Belmont day would be surreal as well.
03:29What we've done so far this year, you know, you win a grade one, you doesn't get much
03:34better than that.
