00:00Stony Point Bloodstock was created with the goal of making a profit for its investors

00:07while also introducing them to the sport of horse racing.

00:10They recently took a trip to Lexington and we dropped in on their visit to Spendthrift

00:14Farm.

00:16My wife, Jim Fitzgerald, my son Matt were all in Saratoga last year and we were brainstorming

00:22around the table and we thought about the idea of forming a pinhooking partnership.

00:30In addition to wanting to make it a for-profit venture, we wanted this to be fun for investors.

00:36We wanted it to be experiential.

00:39We've assembled six coals.

00:41We have two Constitutions.

00:42We have a Not This Time, a Metoli of InnoRossa, and an Omaha Beat.

00:48The yearlings are at my farm in Virginia, so the Keeneland September sale will be probably

00:53where most will sell.

00:54And hopefully we can grow the whole thing from there and maybe eventually to evolve

00:58into having a couple of racehorses and maybe a couple of broodmares.

01:04And now this weekend we're able to bring our investors to Lexington to have them enjoy

01:10the beauty of the countryside, to go racing at Keeneland, to see sires of their own colts.

01:15So we want this to be both profitable, but certainly enjoyable and fun for folks that

01:20have never experienced the industry before.

01:23It's been a whirlwind over the last 24 hours of just learning so much and I had no idea

01:28all the things that this sport had to offer.

01:31How much fun it is, how much of this community the racing really is, and it's been a lot

01:36of fun.

01:37I mean if you can get a group of guys like this that you can enjoy and you can spend

01:40time together and then it gives you an excuse to then interact with the horses and be a

01:46part of that community.

01:48For me I love the process, I love the buildings, I love the fields, I love the horses more

01:56in their natural element, even more than I love the racing.

02:00In order to do any of this stuff well with animals you have to love the process.

02:04It's wonderful that the farms are opening up and letting people do this because the

02:09horse in itself is the common denominator and it makes everybody feel at home and they

02:14love these wonderful animals.

02:16It's easy for us, the people that live in the urban environments to get really disconnected

02:21from rural life.

02:24I think we miss out on a lot when we don't have the connection that we had to horses

02:30for thousands of years as humans.

02:33There's a spiritual element to interacting with horses that people who are around horses

02:37all the time know and love and feel invigorated by, but for those of us that don't get to

02:45do that all the time I think this is a great mini substitute.

02:50Most people would say that an investment like this is obviously a little crazy maybe, obviously

02:55one of the greatest investments ever made, not just because of the financial possibilities

02:59but just the sheer coolness.

03:01It's something different.

03:02It's not just a piece of paper that says we own something, this is a feel like we're part

03:06of what's going on here in Lexington, even when we're sitting up in our cold state of Michigan.

03:11I think you have to get the hands-on experience to really find the delight in it.

03:18Certainly we're investing in order to make money, but then when you couple that with

03:23the ability to get out here and have interaction in a way that you otherwise wouldn't have,

03:29I think that's what makes it all worth it.

03:31I don't know how I would ever be able to get out.

03:33This is just so much fun and even if the first year doesn't turn out great, we're definitely

03:37going to be back for year two and three and I've got a lot of people that are watching

03:40how this goes and I think we're going to have a lot more people year two and three also.
