00:02A lot of people say he's the horse that broke America's heart.
00:08You know, for me, it didn't break my heart because I was in love with him.
00:23I do remember on a Tuesday, myself and Scott Jones brought him into the world.
00:28He was easy to fall, what I can remember, because he's a little bit of a jerk when he's a
00:33baby.
00:34You know, he had his little quirks about him, but he growed out of him and got to where he's
00:38easy to handle.
00:40I first got to work with him between my junior and senior year of high school.
00:45I was finally big enough and strong enough, according to my dad, to work with yearlings.
00:51That was the summer that Blaine was a yearling.
00:54Blaine, he kind of flew under the radar.
00:56You know, he'd look at him and say, well, he's a type of horse that we kind of blend in
01:01because he's playing.
01:02No flash to him, but he got out there and he'd done his job.
01:05Blaine is coming at him with a menacing run.
01:08Quality road and Blaine, a photo finish that Blaine got.
01:13After he won the Whitney, Joe Peel, the stallion manager, we were talking and he said, look, he said, Blaine's
01:21going to be coming in here probably at the end of the season and you're going to get him.
01:26And so when he was running in the Breeders' Cup at Churchill, that was actually our 16th wedding anniversary.
01:39So she got me, you know, the tickets and Churchill was giving out these Zenyatta posters at the time.
01:46I actually got one for my oldest son because he was a huge Zenyatta fan.
01:52Obviously we knew Zenyatta was this great filly, 19 for 19, undefeated, big reputation.
01:58She was obviously the one to beat, had a huge fan following.
02:02But, you know, Blaine was going to do Blaine's thing.
02:06There's the roar from the Churchill bounce.
02:09I just remember when they turned for home, it was like as loud as a sporting venue could possibly be.
02:16Blaine on the inside, Blaine gets the lead, Zenyatta on the outside looking at Lucky, Blaine, Zenyatta, Zenyatta, Zenyatta is
02:24flying, Blaine trying to hold on, Blaine and Zenyatta, Blaine has won it ahead.
02:34Zenyatta...
02:35And then I've never seen like a venue just lose energy as fast as it did that night.
02:40As loud as it was, it was just instantly gone as soon as they hit the wire.
02:44And, you know, I think people were booing Blaine and they were like looking at us because we were cheering
02:49and people were like, how could you possibly be cheering right now?
02:52Yeah, I watched him from home.
02:53He was, you know, I was beating the couch.
02:57I was trying to get him across the finish line.
03:01If you've met Adele, Adele Snyder, she's this little dainty lady that's just always a pleasure to be around.
03:09They said she was going to help me bring him home.
03:11We brought him off the trailer together and brought him up here and put him in the stall.
03:16He'll always be my number one favorite horse just because I had the connection from my time with him as
03:21a yearling and what he did for us as a farm and obviously being a successful sire and being a
03:27really good broom air sire.
03:29I've been with him 16 years.
03:32My kids claim I love him more than I love them.
03:35If I showed you my phone, he's my screensaver.
03:37That is not my family.
03:40It's he and I.
03:41I never had kids of my own, so I raise these like I think kids should be raised.
03:47And you've got to care about the animal to do this job.
03:51He wouldn't be here without spectacular individuals that have helped him along the way, from Charlie as a foal to
03:59now Kevin as a stallion groom.
04:01This is a testament to those folks that have had a hand in his success.
