00:00President of the Police Association, ASP Ishmael Pitt, notes the decision of the Appeal Court and says it must be
00:08respected.
00:09The dispute stems from a high court injunction that previously blocked disclosure of the firearm audit report,
00:15which examines FUL approvals between 2016 and 2021.
00:20We believe in the judicial process. We trust that the judicial process is one that every single citizen is going
00:31to abide by and is going to respect.
00:34So we respect the judicial process and, you know, as such, a pronouncement was made and, you know, we respect
00:44that.
00:44The period falls within the tenure of former Police Commissioner Gary Griffith, who has indicated he will take the matter
00:51to the Privy Council on principle,
00:54arguing that the case concerns constitutional fairness and the protection against the use of state processes to damage reputations.
01:03ASP Pitt also comments on the probe into the police shooting that left Josiah Samru dead,
01:10saying it must be investigated thoroughly before conclusions are drawn,
01:15pointing to the Professional Standards Bureau and the Police Complaints Authority as part of a multi-layered investigative process.
01:23We must balance also the rights of the officers in terms of ensuring that they get a fair process.
01:29And a fair process means a fair investigation.
01:31And you cannot circumvent an investigation and run into another domain just to appeal to what people may call swift
01:41justice.
01:42Justice must come tempered with the tenlands of a proper investigation in order that it informs the decision-making going
01:52forward.
