A 54-year-old unemployed man has been charged with murdering a mother of three, who was also a part-time singer, at a Magistrate's Court in Melaka. 00:11The charge against Hong Yupeng was read before Magistrate Nur Afiqah Radia Zainurin on Friday.

00:17However, no plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

00:24According to the charge, the accused was alleged to have inflicted injuries, leading to the

00:28death of 52-year-old Ling Lucheng.

00:31An autopsy report revealed that the victim was stabbed 14 times, with the fatal blow

00:37piercing her heart.

00:38The offence was committed at a house in Jalan Seri Manga between 1.30am and 3.30am on February

00:4622.

00:47The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death sentence

00:52or, alternatively, imprisonment for 30 to 40 years, and whipping.

00:57Deputy Public Prosecutor Hanis Alia Ahmad Kamarul Najuib did not offer bail, as the

01:03offence is non-bailable.

01:05The court set April 21 as the next mentioned date.
