A 30-year-old restaurant worker has claimed trial to a charge of driving under the influence of drugs, causing injury to five other road users.

Anuar Baharin's plea of not guilty was recorded before Magistrate Sharda Shienha Mohd Suleiman in Ayer Keroh on Monday (Sept 29).

00:09Anuar Baharin's plea of not guilty was recorded before Magistrate Sharda Shienha Mohamed Suleiman in Ayer Kero on Monday.
00:17According to the charge sheet, the accused, who was driving a four-wheel drive,
00:21tested positive for methamphetamine in a preliminary urine screening.
00:25The alleged offense occurred at 6.35 a.m. on September 25 along the Alor-Gaja-Malaka-Tenga-Jasin Highway AMJ at Malim in the Malaka-Tenga district.
00:38A dashboard camera recording of the incident went viral,
00:41showing a four-wheel drive crashing into several vehicles at a traffic light junction along AMJ.
00:46Anuar was charged under Section 44.1a, subsection A of the Road Transport Act, 1987,
00:55which carries a maximum jail term of up to 10 years, a fine of not more than 50,000 ringgit,
01:00and disqualification from driving for at least 10 years upon conviction.
01:06The court granted bail of 5,000 ringgit with one surety,
01:09ordered the suspension of the accused's driving license pending disposal of the case.
