00:00The youngest of fighters to those a bit older, all showed off their skills at the annual
00:17Team Elite Karate Interdojo Championship.
00:20The championship was held at a Northeastern community center and was open to kids from
00:246 years and under to 19 and above.
00:27The fighters showed off their abilities in creative form, point fighting, and padded
00:31weapon categories and Sensei Barry Wynter explained the objectives of the grassroot
00:35event.
00:36Today we hosted our Team Elite Karate Interdojo Championship, where champions are born, giving
00:42all the young people of the San Ignanio community the opportunity to compete and prepare themselves
00:47for future events outside of the dojo.
00:50This initiative has been going on since 2006 and we continue to do so and we are very happy
00:56with the outcome.
00:57We have athletes now competing at all levels, including regional and international and winning
01:03major medals.
01:04So the objective of this event is to unearth new talents and give them opportunities to
01:10compete at national rank events.
01:13The club has already discovered a number of talented fighters in its ranks including siblings
01:18Chelsea and Christian Wynter who are National Youth Awardees.
01:21The two have represented TNT winning medals at the Pan American and South American Championships
01:27and Chelsea Wynter expressed how this event has helped in her development.
01:30It's one of my beginner's events that I definitely look forward to since it has had a major contribution
01:37to my journey at different levels such as preschool, primary school and high school
01:43levels.
01:44I can say that this has definitely prepared us, myself and my fellow teammates for major
01:50events, all club events and now representing our country.
01:53And just like the Wynter siblings, standouts from this club event are selected to represent
01:57Team Elite at national events and possibly, one day, the national team.
