00:00Senate President Francis Escudero shared his timeline for the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte,

00:08predicting that voting might be held by October 2025.

00:12He highlighted that the trial could be completed in less than three months if pre-trial procedures are followed properly.

00:19Senate Minority Leader Coco Pimentel urged Senate Majority Leader Francis Torrentino

00:24to initiate impeachment processes as they are separate from legislative functions.

00:30The Senate President, though, disagreed with the idea of venting the impeachment proceedings before completion,

00:36stressing that trials should be finished regardless of timing.

00:54I appealed to the Majority Leader and he agreed.

00:58To the Minority Leader, to Coco Pimentel, and he agreed.

01:01And to Speaker Martin, and he agreed.

01:04But for one reason only.

01:06Urgent legislation.

01:08Impeachment is not urgent legislation.
