00:00The Senate has received the impeachment complaint from the House of Representatives against
00:04Vice President Sara Duterte and is now expected to form an impeachment court.
00:09House Secretary General Reginald Velasco turned over the articles of impeachment along with
00:14a list of congressmen who signed the impeachment and the list of prosecutors.
00:19This means that Duterte will be up for an impeachment trial at the Senate.
00:23A two-thirds vote in the Senate equivalent to 16 senators is needed for a conviction
00:28that would remove her from office.
00:30However, the Senate during its last session day before the election break did not tackle
00:34the impeachment.
00:35Depending upon the Senate, we will respect whatever decision they have, but it is their
00:43constitutional duty to act on this.
00:46They can convene a court even during the break because this is a non-legislative function
00:54of the Senate.
