00:00Members of the House Prosecutorial Panel are stepping up their game to pressure Senate President Francis Escudero
00:08to grant the request for a summons on the Vice President by the latest pleading filed with the Senate President's office.
00:15Just the latest developments in the saga of the Vice President's impending impeachment trial drawing near as our Mel Alice Mora's report.
00:25We are not pressuring. We are doing our job.
00:30We also want to campaign but we will be the ones who will have a culpable violation of the Constitution if we do not do our duty.
00:39This was asserted by House Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan who is now informally serving as the lead prosecutor
00:46in relation to their filing of their first ever pleading to the Senate regarding the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
00:53In an entry with motion to issue summons filed by the lawmakers, they formally asked Senate President Francis Escudero
01:00to direct VP Sara to file her answer within a non-extendable period of 10 days from receipt of the wreath of summons.
01:07Anong ibig po sabihin nito? Una ay nagpapa pinahayag po namin na handa nakanda po ang House.
01:16At ayon po sa rules of impeachment ng Senado, pag mayroong na-file sa Senado na impeachment complaint,
01:29the Senate shall start the proceedings forthwith. Simulan kaagad. Anong ibig sabihin ng forthwith? Without delay. Right away.
01:39SP Escudero said he hasn't seen the document yet but he will discuss it with the Senate legal team.
01:45The legislators are hoping this will be approved immediately and even if it undergoes a thorough review in the Senate,
01:52they are confident they have taken the right course of action.
01:55We are of the opinion that our motion is legally sound. However, we do understand that the good Senate President might have a differing opinion
02:03and thus we would understand the reason for them to refer it to their legal team.
02:07But we remain confident that our submission is in line with our legal theory.
02:11As of now, Vice President Duterte is still in The Hague, Netherlands.
02:15If the motion is approved while she is still abroad, lawmakers say she may formally submit her response to the Philippine consulate there.
02:22However, it would still be preferable for her to personally submit it.
